A Place for Mom has scored Grace Management, Inc with 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 623 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Grace Management, Inc has 2,732 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.4 out of 5.
It was fantastic for a while and we overlooked some of these things because she was happy here. They do not fix anything. She had ripped screens in her room and the lights would go out in her apartment and they would not come to replace anything. The rooms are pretty old, they do not repaint or clean any of the rooms before new residents move in. They are also supposed to clean weekly but all they do is vacuum. My mom has been locked in her room for the entire pandemic so her meals are served in her room and she is not allowed to come out. Since the food is being stacked up in the hallways now, my mom now has a cockroach infestation. It has been a nightmare and we are taking my mom out of here. I would never advise anybody to send their loved ones here.

My mother moved into The Residence at Whitehall during the pandemic and they did not notify us when we were looking that they had two patients living there that had the coronavirus. My mother was very upset and we moved her out immediately. My sister tried to contact the director and have not heard gotten a call back.

This facility will sell you a bunch of goods, but they won't deliver. It use to be a wonderful facility 3 years ago before Grace Management took over and began cutting staff, reducing nurses, and replacing them with less qualified folks who essentially can give medication. Family members complain, but it goes nowhere.

They gave us very short notice for when we had to move my friend out of the community and would not take her back after her stay in rehab. The dinning staff, cooks and servers were excellent. They did keep the community very clean. They did have activities available for the residents to participate in and my friend was involved in some of them.

My Dad has lived here since fall of 2015. The previous director was a nurse who truly was a caretaker, and that trickled on down to all of her staff. It felt like a loving environment and each and every staff member treated family with respect and showed personal interest in residents' lives. They used to stop in, just to see how my introvert Dad was doing. Random acts of kindness, very dedicated people who worked hard to maintain a high standard. Dirigo Pines is not what it was before Grace Management took over. There has been a near-total turnover in staff, as far as I can see. And my Dad is in a memory unit where consistency really matters. I cannot tell you how many times we have asked for a schedule to be maintained simply to cut my father's fingernails and toenails. They can't manage it, despite family repeatedly asking for it to be set to a calendar reminder somehow. In these COVID-19 days, I've called his "neighborhood" and left messages on their voicemail and my calls aren't returned. His doctor reached out two days in a row to their Coordinator line to set up a Zoom appointment for my Dad. I likewise emailed the nursing staff ahead of this appointment, due diligence as it was a new thing to have a remote appointment for Dad and he doesn't do well with surprises. No one responded until it was too late and the response was I didn't get a reply because of "staff cutbacks" and "we don't have any appointments scheduled for today." If family and doctors can't reach a human when they need to, in a timely fashion, who is looking out for our vulnerable family members?

My mom was at Elmcroft and it is 100% horrible. The nurses and caregivers lie about the care they provide and the salesperson washes her hands of you once she's sold you this disaster if a place. They kept my mom alive while in respite but her room was almost always dirty and smelly. She always looked disheveled and they did not wash her face every day, keep her hydrated or engaged. They are LAZY about the care they provide and did not follow through with their promises. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SALES PITCH! IT'S A BAIT AND SWITCH and if you care about your loved ones, don't trust them to do the same.

My mother was a resident at Town Village for six years. Unfortunately, she recently had to move to assisted living. Town Village represents to their tenant's that if they are absent from the facility for 5 days they will receive a meal credit on their billing statement. However, they have failed and refused to abide by this policy. They also bill for meal delivery services in a way that is confusing and difficult, if not impossible to dispute. It appears they care more about their bottom line than they do about their tenants. If you care about your loved one I would advise you to proceed with great caution if you are considering Town Village, Vestavia Hills. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.

My father was there for 6 months and it was great until he passed away. The staff was sympathetic and caring. Now however there has been constant turnover with staff and they do not do the basic care. Their memory care facility where my father was and now several other friends is more of an afterthought. Some of the staff are gruff and rough.People with alzheimers do not do well with change but that is not a priority any more.If you have a memory care facility the staff needs to be attentive, patient, and on their toes. They are charging alot of money and the staff is not giving basic care as in cleaning patients well, making sure they eat and drink enough. I know it is a tough job but these are human beings and they are your responsibility,we trust Celebration to take care of our loved ones. They need to do everything in their power to keep good staff and ditch the bad.I would not recommend their memory care to anyone anymore.

was invited to a crab fest by my uncle by 530 of a party that was to last until 7pm there was no food. the crabs were outside with no warmer or ice. the so called chef{absolutely not even much of a short order cook} was drinking and didnt care that nothing was left to eat. the folks serving the food were great and apologized but they were not to blame . [name removed] was the one that was supposed to be the chef. it was pitiful to see these seniors looking for what was promised to them and they didnt have even a third of what was needed. i complained to the chef and he ignored me and obviously did not care. we are moving my uncle to another home and hope all others follow suit .this place is terrible.

While the facilities are generally clean and adequate, the management is dishonest and less than helpful. When my mother moved there, certain commitments were made; commitments that have no negative side for the management of the facility. All that notwithstanding, after they had received the money (of course), these commitments were no longer available. It's like dealing with snake oil salesman! My mom has since tried to sell, but is getting lack luster support, at best, from management. It is a shame that such organizations are allowed to take advantage of the elderly in their twilight years.

Keep your loved ones away from this senior living. First hand the comfort care are not trustworthy with your valuables, things have gone missing and management doesn’t care. Oh and don’t utilizing comfort care you will find yourself sitting and waiting for 15 to 30 minutes for them to show up and take you back to your place. Many of the staff in comfort care and dining are seen talking or on cell phones, seems that is more important the us residents. The dining stay is awful, grown adults telling us where we have to sit, refusing us service and using foul language. Need to fire kitchen cooks they don’t know how to cook food the way we request it, half the food served is dry or over cooked. Whoever is doing the food ordering needs to be replaced shouldn’t have to be forced to drink water or skim milk cause the dining is out of cranberry juice, orange juice, whole milk and coffee is old and dark. Also half the time menu options for the day are out or don’t have. We pay top dollars and should be able to get the food options offered to us and enjoy them. The building management has gone down the tubes the past two years. Our rent keeps going up but the condition keep getting worse. Grace management needs to throw in the towel and a new company needs to come in and clean the place up, have people here to work that care about us seniors and our quality of care. Unfortunately the lowest review score option was a one if a zero was an option that’s what this place would of got!!!

If you don’t eat food this place would be ok but that’s the problem! You wait hours to get a meal for 3000,00 and more. Comfort care? OMG what a joke! People wait and wait for an assistance to come and take them back to their apartment after dinner. Their to busy chatting on their phones to care! If you love your family member DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT take them here....you WILL be sorry. To bad too, this place used to be a diamond! Now it’s a piece of coal under the current management that is strictly in it for profit!!. Horrible people..

A PREVIOUS RESIDENT. I LIVED THROUGH THIS NIGHTMARE. What a wonderful place to live BEFORE the current company bought this facility.they came and introduced themselves to us and told us up front they were a “ solely in this business for profit “ they said our standard would not change but they LIED. Slowly all the things that made this a wonderful place were taken away. One by one. No more special dinners once a month. Birthday party’s were eliminated. WORST THING! They cannot get people fed! The waitstaff walks off the job, the cooks leave one after another. People waiting for hours to get a meal that they pay dearly for. When they call to be pushed up after waiting for hours to get dinner they wait and wait while comfort care people talking on cell phone in stairs corridor. it’s a mess there. Residents are complaining daily about the food service and taking there the things away they pay for. Their rent goes up and they remove something they loved. At the last meeting they (the residents) we are not taking anymore complaints about the food! Who says that! They are paying 3.000 and more to be told that? Please if you love your family member DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS PLACE. ITS Horrible! They talk a great story but night mare to live here. I moved out my friends have moved out. So I know what’s happening there. ITS A MESS PLEASE BELIEVE ME.. Thanks for reading. Hope you listen.

I was actually very impressed when I first visited Inspired Living because the facility is nice and clean and there is a great outdoor space. I also liked that patients can roam freely because of their tracking bracelets. However, my experiences with my Mom--in only two short weeks--made me understand why my mother's guardian (a respected professional in Brevard county for many years) told us she wouldn't put her own mother in that facility. She only allowed my Mom's temporary stay because we thought it would be a good fit for her. Twice in a 6-hour time frame, another patient stood next to my Mom, screaming at the top of her lungs that she was going to kill her (well, in one instance, she was actually saying that to my sister, but my Mom was equally horrified). While I know that this is an unfortunate result of a terrible disease and I do not hold it against the woman at all---I was appalled that there was not a single CNA in sight--in either instance--to calm down the woman or to reassure our mother, who was terrified. More importantly, my mother suffers from CHF and her feet had been swollen to 3 times their normal size for several days before the staff actually listened to me and my sister, who were telling them that it was edema, which is a basic symptom of CHF. They kept insisting that it was because her shoes were too tight and she walked a lot. But we pressed the issue, forced them to have a doctor look at her, and she was, of course, immediately hospitalized. We believe that they had messed up her medication and were not giving her her Lasix but we still aren't sure. And do not believe a word [name removed] tells you--particularly if he gives you his cell phone and encourages you to call him any time or tells you that I.L. is now your loved one's home and you can come to visit them any time at all. Tonight, I went back at 9:30 after the horrifying experience with the other patient at dinner because I knew that this was one reason my Mom wasn't sleeping well and she had just been released from the hospital. While the nurse was very supportive of my staying with her for a couple of hours to help put her to sleep, after about 30 minutes (my Mom was fast asleep), one of the employees, barged in, addressed me in a curt and condescending tone and told me I had to leave. She proceeded to tell me that I had told my mother not to take her medication--which was completely untrue--and that I was interfering with her sleep--even though my Mom was obviously fast asleep at that very moment. When I called [name removed] to tell him how upset I was by both of these experiences he was dismissive, belittling and--he hung up on me. At best, he seems like an incompetent middle school counselor. Unprofessional and out of his league. The facility is clean--the activities are great and the nurse was also very good. But it is understaffed, the CNAs need much better training and the management is unskilled.

My 84 year old mother took it upon herself to sign a 6 month lease in this horrific place. She moved in there on [date removed], and within days, she was crying and asking me to come get her. The facility and her apartment is a old and dingy, there aren’t very many people living there. They are extremely short staffed. The other day, they made her wait an hour to take her order for a sandwich. She had only been there 1 week when she informed [name removed], the General Manager that she was probably moving out. Yesterday, [date removed], I notified [name removed] that my sister that lives about a mile from there will be moving to Arizona. Therefore, my mother won’t have any family in the area and for that reason, and the fact that she is miserable there and complains that the food is awful, I have to move her closer to where I live and work. He said he didn’t care, and said she will be held responsible for paying all 6 months of the lease. Her last day there will be this Friday, [date removed], 2 weeks after after her move-in date. He was very rude and disrespectful when my mother asked him to email a copy of HER lease to me and her attorney. He refused, and demanded to see my power of attorney before he would email anything. IT’S HER LEASE AND HE REFUSED TO EMAIL IT FOR HER. She is like a hostage there. She can’t even get to her physical therapy appointments because she has to give them 3 days notice to get a ride there. Please do let your loved one move in there. You, and they will regret it.

Some employees are unfriendly--sometimes a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. Food is decent, rooms are nice but bad housekeeping (vacuuming, dusting, bathroom). Has a beauty salon but it is rarely open. They have a "sign-in, sign-out" front door policy for residents and their visitors. There are few activities--a short Bingo game twice a week, a "scenic drive" (30 minute bus ride in surrounding neighborhoods or sometimes to Dairy Queen or Amy's Donuts), fireside chitchat, hand massage, "resident choice" (which means there is nothing), occasional games . They are "fair" about giving out medications--a few times I had to go looking for them. On the whole, I would not refer.
