Pro: Good location, new facility. Con: Does not have the trained staff to provide the promised services. At $210 per night, toilet paper was not provided.

We toured this community. We did not like the cleanliness of this community. They did not have a lot of things needed in the rooms. There were extra charges. We did like this community. The staff was nice. This community needs to have more accommodations for needs in the rooms and the restrooms. I would recommend this community for other families.

This place has very good activities however the care is poor. You do not get what you pay for and there is a lack of communication between staff, residents, and family.

The management was terrible at Camellia. The staff was so bad I had to bring in 24 hour caregivers. The food was not eatable. They had to move my husband out of his room because they found mold. They also did not keep the community very clean and there were issues with bugs. I would not recommend this community.

Windward palm is not a place I would recommend anyone to send their love ones there. All the good people who were at windward,they let go and the new mangers are [Removed]

No stove or oven, no vitality. No open dining and few menu options.

Beautiful facility and lovely apartments with stunning views. Caring staff. Nice array of activities. This facility was originally built by Hyatt, the hotel company and it shows. This facility works well if you/ your parent is fairly independent and mobile and just needs a bit of structure and activities. Also if he/ she has an easy going personality. It also works well if you have a parent with more serious cognitive declines, but again with a mellow personality and wealth to afford significant outside help. Some residents "age in place" and have 24 hour help. Their business practices, however, are questionable--they are evicting my mom after 6 weeks because of her demanding personality. Tried to blame it on drinking (she has 1/ 2 cocktail before dinner) or frontal lobe dementia (which I know from recent cat scans she does not have.) No ability to correct the situation, nothing in writing or evidence of the behavior--just a call and 30 days to leave. If you have a parent with a demanding personality, this is not a good choice. A new facility I called said I was the second person from Brookdale Lakeshore who called him with the same issue in the last month. Hard sell, "we can handle it"--then no follow-up when there is an issue....

The new owner of this company seems overwhelmed in her duties and extremely rude to potential employees. \r\nThis is not the type of woman I would want talking care of my loved ones.

This place is garbage. The food there is terrible. They keep telling me it's low sodium, but I went in there one day and they were serving sloppy joes and potato chips, it was loaded with salt. They have a menu of all the choices you should have, but when you go in there they don't have those choices available. The wellness director will tell you she is going to do things, but then she won't do them. There are a couple of people that are really good, and Marcy is fantastic. After the first week we were doing so good, but then things just went downhill and it was like, good luck getting Diane to help with that. It was an awful experience.

We weren't happy with them. They weren't giving him the one on one time that they were supposed to, based on the level of care we were paying for. They weren't giving the medications like they should have been. They never told me that there were problems, until it was too much to handle. They were not able to handle the things they said they could. They were definitely understaffed. I think they may not be quite trained to handle the level of care that they say they can. They charge a pretty high price, too. It's clean and looks nice on the surface, but everything else was missing.

Overall my experience was Sterling House of Bartlesville South was not a good one. The facility itself seemed nice enough, it was clean and the aides were friendly. However from the beginning the sales process just felt shady and high pressure. The representative from Sterling House really pushed me towards this specific community and shut down questions I had about other locations. I also was not happy with the nursing director, I only spoke with her briefly when we moved in, and then never heard from her again. They were also not clear with the billing process, there were charges they did not do a good job of explaining, and there was no option for refunding any portion of the rather hefty bill, despite my loved one passing before they had been at the community for more than a few weeks.

I took my mother there for 1 week while I went on a business trip. At the time she was using a walker and needed help transferring. I gave strict instructions that she should not get in and out of bed on her own....and needed help getting to the toilet in the middle of the nite. Mother says she rang the bell and no one came for quite some time so she got up on her own........and, of course, fell and broke her femur right at the hip (doctors were able to repair with only pins, not full replacement...thank God!) And, I had to cut my trip short. However.....what happened next was the most disgusting part!! They blamed my mother and denied any responsibility. The Head Nurse even visited her in the hospital (without any notification or permission) and tried to get Mother to admit she was to blame, even while she was drugged on pain medication. I spoke with my attorney and he said we had a case.

We are moving our loved one out. They had her mediations so screwed up it was unbelievable. They were not giving her some medications and then overdosing her on others. It is frightening. I would absolutely not recommend this facility to others. The issue is the executive director. Her response to my question when I asked how do we make sure this does not happen again was this: "We are humans who make mistakes we cannot promise that it will not happen again." We took back over her medications because we do not trust them.

Things have gone downhill

I would NOT recommend putting your loved in Portside facility in their Memory Care unit. The staff is awful and wont do anything unless asked. The staff is nothing more than not very good housekeepers at best. They are also they are woefully understaffed. The facility is new and nice and not run well. Anywhere is better than this based on the care provided.

One of my biggest problems i had with this community was the cleanliness, at one point there was an infestation of insects. The staff members weren't all perfect but most of them were fine and did their job as well as they could. I only had a problem with on individual. Some of the food they served was bad and past its due date. There wasn't to many care services, i did have to pay extra for the laundry which they took care of.

It was fantastic for a while and we overlooked some of these things because she was happy here. They do not fix anything. She had ripped screens in her room and the lights would go out in her apartment and they would not come to replace anything. The rooms are pretty old, they do not repaint or clean any of the rooms before new residents move in. They are also supposed to clean weekly but all they do is vacuum. My mom has been locked in her room for the entire pandemic so her meals are served in her room and she is not allowed to come out. Since the food is being stacked up in the hallways now, my mom now has a cockroach infestation. It has been a nightmare and we are taking my mom out of here. I would never advise anybody to send their loved ones here.

My mother moved into The Residence at Whitehall during the pandemic and they did not notify us when we were looking that they had two patients living there that had the coronavirus. My mother was very upset and we moved her out immediately. My sister tried to contact the director and have not heard gotten a call back.

This facility will sell you a bunch of goods, but they won't deliver. It use to be a wonderful facility 3 years ago before Grace Management took over and began cutting staff, reducing nurses, and replacing them with less qualified folks who essentially can give medication. Family members complain, but it goes nowhere.

They gave us very short notice for when we had to move my friend out of the community and would not take her back after her stay in rehab. The dinning staff, cooks and servers were excellent. They did keep the community very clean. They did have activities available for the residents to participate in and my friend was involved in some of them.
