I toured Somerset when I was looking for a place for my parents. The only view of the outside was looking directly over into the employee smoking spot. It would have been right below their window. I thought, this is not going to work. For two non-smokers, they could never open their window!

Dont Be Fooled

Brookdale at first encounter was impressive by all the decor.. Other than that it was very poorly run. The charges were huge and often charged without the services being done. The staff were nice however I saw a lot of standing around visiting with each other. Charged for laying out clothes in the morning but found that many times the clothes worn were dirty. Housekeeping was poor. Finally I had to vacate as toilet seat was dirty and that was the last straw. Beware of the promises and question the charges. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I decided to put my mother in Carmel village memory care center when her dementia became advanced in February of 2023 and after I was advised it was one of the best in Clovis. At first I thought it was a good idea because they kept her clean but then they started drugging her to the point of she slept all the time, which I understand they need to keep her mellow but I thought they used to much and I explained that to them. The food they serve them started out okay but shortly after it was very bland, I would pay for my own meal and eat with mom who needed help getting to the cafeteria, she was very sleepy. One day in late September of 2023 when I wasn't there she fell out of her chair in the cafeteria where there are many caregivers and the fall broke her hip. I was notified by one of the caregivers that she was being transferred to Clovis community hospital for the injury and surgery, the surgery went well but the trauma caused her to go into shock and stopped eating and drinking, she

Not good.

Do not like this place. I went to visit my grandma and a lady came in named [name removed] that was very rude and smelled like cigarettes and it was not appealing to my grandma. She acted and looked like she was drunk or on drugs and I am not very pleased with this place. Working on getting my grandma out of there. Tried to talk to the staff about not having [name removed]be there but my grandma said she is still there. If you are drunk or on drugs how can you take care of my grandma. I use to hear good things about the staff but this visit has me feeling very differently. You hope your loved ones are in a place they feel well taken care of. Not treated bad and worried how someone will treat you.

Management

Management as with most care facilities doesn’t care about the residents. Especially if the resident can speak up for themselves. Medication management is horrible, they don’t listen and don’t communicate with patients. I have had 2 people here one left after 3 months, the other stayed due to location. I will tell everyone I know not to put someone you love here.

Sad last year of mom's life

My mother was at Sunrise Creek for the last year of her life. It was terrible. The director was cold and unfeeling, the prices were astronomical, and the services provided were severely lacking. She was in memory care about the last six months before she passed away and I'm so so sorry Montrose didn't have a better place for her to spend her final days. I can't speak to the change to Montage Creek, but it certainly would have to be better than Sunrise Creek was.

They suck you in with false discounts and once you are there they stick you will a lot more charges like $839 a month just to dispense pills to my mother! She could do it herself but they won't let her. Also, if you get your own meds from your own pharmacists they charge you money for that. They make you get your meds from who they say so! Obviously they are getting kickbacks from the pharmacy they make you use! Is that even legal???

We wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! The only good thing about them was the bus driver. He was extremely accomodating and so wonderful! If we ever needed our loved one to be picked up or taken somewhere, he was there to help! Very accomodating. Other than that, we hated it!

Horrible Experience!

We weren't very happy there. The service was horrible. They were always short of help. My mother pulled the string for help and they were just really bad. She'd need help to go to the restroom and it would take them up to 45 minutes to get there and that happened a lot. She got a couple of bladder infections because of it. It was really bad. I thought it would be a lot better because it looks nice and the people seem nice but they are so understaffed. For about 99 residents they only had maybe a handful of girls trying to help everybody. I definitely wouldn't recommend it. You could never find the administrator or the nurse on staff. For the money that people pay there it's just horrible. We chose is because it was a convenient location for us and they kept it clean and tidy. They said the could do a two person transfer but they weren't truthful. They really couldn't provide that care for her. They seem to accept anybody whether they need a high skilled facility or not and they're not trained well. I know OR law doesn't require them to be certified but I don't think they were properly trained either. It was all around horrible.

Meh.

So far, we're not terribly impressed. Our mother now needs adult diapers. We are told Brookdale can't provide those; the family will have to do it. Today is a holiday and she feels as though she has a UTI. we are told they can't do anything about it until tomorrow. What do people without families do? Wet their pants and suffer an extra day? We feel like we can't even leave town for the weekend!
