Heritage Woods is new so therefore it was beautiful. It's located on a Very busy road and again further from family and friends which was the main reason we did not go with them. Both of these for the Medicaid waiver were studio apartments. I don't believe mom would have liked that. They did offer assisted living and memory care. I believe mom will be in a memory care unit in due time.

It's been a pretty good experience. We picked this community, because of [name removed] I would love it if they would take Medicaid waivers. The food seems to be lacking on some things.

The inside of the facility including the individual apartments are beautiful. However the courtyard space is pathetic. All of the staff is amazing except [name removed], I believe she is the director. She is extremely unapproachable and very abrupt with all, should not be holding this position in my opinion. The activities are nice for the ladies although I don't believe there is much for the male residents.

While I don't have other facilities to compare, all of the experiences at Carriage Crossing have been 5 with the exception of meals. I'm not sure my mother is getting or eating nutritious meals. It could also be that I'm not getting good descriptions from mom. She struggles with that sometimes. Also, for those who don't want to engage - it would be beneficial if there was more encouragement to get her "out of the house" so to speak. I just recommended both you and Carriage Crossing last week.

Whenever I visit my mom she is always dressed and clean. I am not completely aware of daily activities and could use more communication from the facility. Staff are always kind and helpful.

The White Oaks community itself is very clean - the hallways and main common areas are very nice, however for the amount of money being spent per month we do wish the house keeping (bed making, bathroom cleaning, tidiness) was a little bit better. We do love the staff members there and the care that they provide. Anytime we have questions or concerns they are addressed quickly. We overall are very happy with them, and our definitely recommend to other families. However the meals need much improvement - they have very small portions and just not very good in our opinion. We do have to say they are accommodating to the fact that when our loved one does not like something they will make him a sandwich - however it is only a sandwich, no sides like fruits or chips.

We picked this community because of the cost, and it's more affordable than other places. if there is a problem, the nursing staff does not hesistate to call me, to let me know what's going on. They could improve on the communication, between the familly and the caregivers. They serve good food, and provide good portions. I would recommend to other families.

Just like every other nursing home and assisted living community they are understaffed, but our loved one does feel comfortable and the staff members are very friendly.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The community went above and beyond to assist my loved one during their move in. There are three meals a day provided and the residents have choices to choose from.

Really liked what I saw and actually got back on their waiting list in case another community doesn't work out. The timing they offered did not work with our move in timing we needed for our loved one. At the time trey seemed a tad less organized and the guest rooms had no separation between living and sleeping. The bathroom was right when you walked in. Their shower had no lip which was nice; another community had a lip which is unnerving. Why would ANY facility for old folks build a non-walk in shower?!?!? It take some fore thought and extra planning but no old person needs to step in and out of a shower Heritage Woods was homey and the dietician seemed more on par. VC dining is not good and their chef seems less than interested in working hard.

We chose Independent Village of Greenwood because of the large size of their apartments as well as the location. I think that making sure the carpets are cleaned before new residents move in would be helpful. Overall we would recommend this facility to others looking.

We chose Traditions at West Park Place because they made the experience of moving my dad very easy. WE looked at a lot of places and I felt like their services were best. They go from independent living all the way to memory care all within the same complex. Memory care is in a separate section, but the same complex. My dad was straddling independent living and assisted, he is on a floor that is half and half. So if he started to trend towards assisted living he will not have to move, he can stay in the same apartment. That is a big plus. They were so helpful, they rented us furniture in the unit which he can purchase or replace himself when he wants. That was helpful because he was moving from Florida. They also have a full kitchen with a stove in the units except for memory care. He is still able to make himself his own food if he wants too. I would definitely recommend them to others looking, but talk to them about the food situation. It is either great or horrible, there is no in between. Other than that, the people and all the staff are fabulous. The location is great, It is near the mall, grocery store, medical facilities etc.

I picked this community because It's close to my home. The food is sort of bland, and could improve a bit. My advice to other families, is it takes awhile for your loved one to get use to new surroundings.

We chose Heritage Woods of South Elgin because of the convenient location, they accept Medicaid, and just the overall gut feeling. I toured 7 places and I got the best feeling here. The director of sales is very nice and friendly and gets back to you in a timely manner. Same about management, they would meet with me when I had any concerns. The one negative thing that happened after we moved in was the entire nursing staff left, so there was just one nurse there that we had worked with. They had to get people from corporate to come help while they were looking for new staff. Unfortunately it was a short experience for us, but I would recommend them to others looking.

I believe it is a good place to be. With any place, you have to pay attention to what your family member is telling you and weigh that with reports from the staff. My loved one seems to just want to go home, although not necessarily because of Cedar Grove. To me, it seems like a satisfactory place that I wouldn't mind being myself if I were in need of that type of care.

My dad is very happy at White Oaks, and he loves the food. There were some small hurdles when I first moved him, but they were sorted out timely and since then there haven't been any issues.

The facility at White Oaks was a little bit older than others we looked at, but still very nice. My loved one just needed more care than they were able to provide.

l have had my loved one(s) in a few different communities and all senior living communities have issues. You have to keep your eye on them. Sometimes staff is stretched thin and calls don't get answered right away. It's not continual and it's not always bad, but sometimes they would ring and it can take upwards of 15 minutes for a staff member to show up. Heritage Woods is an immaculate facility; everything is contemporary and up to date. They put a lot of thought into areas for the residents to sit and enjoy their surroundings. The courtyard is also beautiful.
