They were amazingly helpful and very fair. My Father died before we could move him in, and they couldn't have been nicer. They were all really lovely, decent humans!

My mother and I started our "Stonebrook journey" [date removed] as she moved into assisted living after my dad passed and didn't feel mom should be living alone. Mom was resistant at first, but as time passed she made new friends and enjoyed her new surroundings. It gave me peace of mind knowing that mom was being taken care, eating delicious meals, taking her medication, and participating in social events. Since then mom has progressed to the Memory Care unit in [date removed]. The Stonebrook Village team helped me immensely with this transition-as it is difficult for all parties involved. The Memory Care staff has activities and outings planned to ensure the residents are engaged and active which is wonderful. Stonebrook has brought in resources such as speakers, support groups and elder law presentation which have been extremely helpful to me as a caregiver to my mom. Highly recommend Stonebrook Village at Windsor Locks!

Overall it was a good fit for [name removed]. We had some issues with staff who worked so much but the letter of their assignments sometimes it felt callous and at one point [name removed] said she needed to hire someone to come in and pick up where staff refused to help. Meals were good and having alternate choices- not on the menu- was very welcome. Best thing was the balcony that we're lucky enough to get. She loved being outside, and having her little dog outside was a blessing. She also loved plants and gardening on her balcony was a pure delight.

If your loved one dies, you still pay for the month. That was the only negative I have about Cedarbrook Village at Ware.

The staff are great. The nursing leadership leave something to be desired in their communication between shifts. However, they have since let go some of the staff that were making this an issue. We'll see what the future brings. I would definitely recommend Cedarbrook Village at Ware to others looking.

I feel that my dad is safe and secure at Hillsbrook. They keep the facility and his room clean at all times. It never smells of a nursing home. They seem to have a lot of turnover, which is the nature of this work. The staff they have tend to be on the younger side but they treat the residents either respect and are friendly and seem caring. When we had to increase dads level of care to helps with ADLs, he didn't always get the daily/ weekly assistance we were paying for. There seems to be quite a bit of turnover in the kitchen so meals are sometimes good, sometimes not so good. But they now offer a "grab and go" café so dad can take a sandwich up to his room and that's a nice addition. Although my dad doesn't typically leave his room to join activities, they've gotten better with more variety for the residents. There are things that are offered for what his rent is that dad isn't taking advantage of but we're happy with pretty much everything

The only problem I have with this place is the food is plain and repitious. Everything else is good. It’s clean well maintained the staff is always helpful. Activities are definitely geared to old people and not so much for the able bodied unless you like playing cards.

Staff really do quite a bit, despite it being ASSISTED living. It's overall a great place. They really get to know your loved one. They will be as involved with the family as the family is involved - therefore, you won't hear from them unless there's an issue. But if you're an invested family member, you'll know all about your loved one's day. At times you will find that if you don't ask, you won't know - for example if your loved one needs something. They will push certain agencies for outside help but it's important for families to know that it's always up to them who is involved in their loved ones care. You may have to push back a bit if you want someone other than who they prefer. It's a federal law that there is a choice in hospice, therapy, doctor, specialists, etc. They technically have a podiatrist but he's never there. Best to keep your own outside podiatrist. No hairdresser either - prepare to be responsible for your family member's nails and haircuts. No dentist that comes to the facility, but I don't think any places have that. The rooms in memory care are pretty large, both the room and the residents own bathroom. Great space and closets

I think my comment is more general, but families should be prepared to do lots of advocacy for their family member. Their special meals they do really well. Their portions for my specific family member are too large. It's often not super warm, but my mom gets hers in her room. And I think if you stick with the safer choices it's ok. But I'd equate it to low cafeteria quality. The kitchen staff, however are excellent, kind and attentive.

I am agent for a younger brother who is living there in an Independent Living apartment, is totally self-sufficient at this point, and is probably one of the youngest residents there. I'm not cognizant of everything they are doing there, but they have added new pub and exercise facilities and some type of unit for transitioning from assisted living to memory care, have made a lot of cosmetic upgrades to the property, and there has been a lot of top staff turnover, including the director. They have been making some property improvements and ongoing organizational and staff changes there in the last year. Not sure what effect this will have on the residents, but I believe it's intended to be beneficial. The prices have also increased.

Only opened in July 2023 so there are some startup type issues. There was some confusion with disclosure of pricing structure. Pricing is a base price plus an AL level cost. Just by being AL, you must pay for some level of care. Since it is brand new, it is very clean and my mom’s apartment is cleaned and laundry done as scheduled. Everyone I’ve dealt with was very friendly and helpful and my mom has said the same. My mom is still very independent; however, when she has needed some assistance occasionally, they were very helpful. Some challenges with staffing chef position(s) with a trained individual so quality of food varies. A monthly resident meeting is held to address questions and issues which is helpful. Activities could be improved. Staff seems new to activities at an AL facility. Pricing seems reasonable based on the other places I researched. Overall, I would recommend Hillsbrook Village.

There has been a very high level of care and individual attention; my sister, an introvert, delights in the daily word puzzles and the dedicated television channel from the Cornell Bird laboratory. There are daily schedules of activities for the more socially inclined. The cheerful atmosphere of the lobby is continued throughout the facility. Much better than we could have hoped for!

I only had a few days to find a place. Chose because it is a few miles from my daughter in case of any emergencies that may arise. I would recommend. Very nice place. Staff helpful but I'd a little pricey.

Care staff are friendly, however like everywhere they're short staffed, so although families pay the same amount, there's less eyes on the resident. Activities are great, but not much that's specific to males. The Resident director hasn't been kind to speak to and brushes off concerns. The meals there are amazing. The entire dining staff does an amazing job.

I worked with my single (unmarried, no children) and financially independent younger brother to help get him placed in an independent living apartment at Stonebrook. He is the type of person who is very particular and opinionated about many things and has always liked to have things done for him, and has no desire to be cooking meals or doing housekeeping, which he is now provided with. So far, he seems to be quite comfortable and happy at Stonebrook, is participating in group activities there, and regularly using their transportation services. He finds Stonebrook to be a facility that suits his needs, and is a very nice place that is a step above run-of-the-mill nursing homes, but not as elaborate or elite (or as expensive) as some of the resort-style senior living facilities available in the area.

Overall experience was fine until my loved one wasn't getting one on one care, which I knew that was going to happen because he wasn't able to do anything on his own. I told [name removed] at Colebrook that they weren't going to be able to give him one on one care, but she was in charge. The people who worked there were fine except for one or two. The facility was clean, the food was good. The activities were good, but my loved one wasn't able to participate unless I or someone else guided him and even then it was only a short time. But at times, he did like to watch. I think Colebrook Village is a good place, but it wasn't for my loved one.

Value for cost - this one is the most difficult to answer. Although I know this facility to be with in the range of all the others in this area with the same care. I find the cost to be extremely expensive. Then there is an extra [fee removed] a month if the resident needs to be hand feed. I observed the feeding. The attendant was on the cell phone 80 percent of the time. If they are not feeding they are sitting around watching. I think they can do all three things at the same time with the number of attendants that are there and not charge for feeding. My personal opinion. Thank you. Also had a bit of a problem with billing.
