When can I move in

We chose this community because of the location, it was also a nice facility. The food there was very good, there was a lot of variety. The room sizes are very nice and spacious, my mother in law has a 1 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and a deck . It was better than any apartment I have ever lived in. The other rooms I have seen such as the studios are nice as well. Our favorite part about this facility is they do things to get the families involved. They have a lot of family activities and the whole family enjoys going.

Nice Tour, But Not the Place For My Father

This is a good community, and my tour was nice. The community looks neat and tidy, everything appeared to be well maintained. The staff I met was kind and friendly. There were many factors that played into my decision where to move my father to. This is a nice community, just not the one for my father.

Plenty of care for the money. Very happy with Cedarbrook Village.

I just wish that the nursing staff was more hands on. There are certain things they can't do - for instance they can't touch the patient, and they can't put a heat patch on. There has also been some mix-up in the meds. I know that the nurses they have are LPNs, and not RNs. When I voice concerns, they respond in an okay manner. It's a beautiful facility. They offer a variety of activities - things like fitness classes, bingo, cooking activities. They bring in animals like dogs to boost residents' mental health, and they bring in singers / entertainment. I think it's a good value for the money.

Review for Stonebrook Village at Windsor Locks

There not bad, but they're not as good as I was led to believe. They don't take the residents out as often as I was told. I was told/sold that they would go out to lunch of dinner once a week or go on weekly field trips. The actual schedule is nowhere near that. On the positive side, the staff always seems nice and helpful.

My mom was in memory care. The staff tried but there were too few staff to patients in memory care. The food there is great and the activities too. The Assisted living side is good.

Review for Hillsbrook Village at Allenstown

My mom doesn't need any assistance, however, I've had a few issues with nursing staff. They are responsive when call button activated. The biggest issue has been the quality of food. If you read the website, the food sounds wonderful. However, it doesn't come anywhere close to that description. They keep saying they are working on it. They use a 3rd party service. I had an extensive in person conversation with the Director. Things seem to be improving a bit.

For the most part favorable. The accommodation are very large for apartments. Draw back ? staps turnover. Not notified of new people in new roles. I pay my parent's bills- and I have given my information over & over again. Not being notified of change of the POA.

Overall Great Facility

The staff is great and the activities they offer are good. However, what we were told about what the Crossroads program did not pan out. My mom, with limited abilities due to her Alzheimers is unable to make friends on her own and she was left to her own devices for dinner etc. Mixing with the "regular" residents did not work well as my mom was made fun of and therefore isolated herself. Eventually she had to be transferred to the Egis wing. Having a safer place for vulnerable people for dinner etc. would help.

Review for Elmbrook Village at Bozrah

The place is beautiful and well maintained. We paid for extra care including escorting our dementia inflicted Mother to meals and on multiple occasions they didn't do it. She has dementia and does not remember. We fear they are taking advantage of this fact and are not getting her for meals because she will not remember. We were there 4 times at dinner time in two weeks and they only picked her up once.

What to ask when you don't know what to ask

Be prepared to understand what's involved in assisted living care, especially when you have a loved one with dementia. There isn't enough information provided on what to expect and what's included. Even though there's this lengthy contract, it doesn't go into the specifics of the things you will bump into or the things you need to know, understand, and experience when it's your first time having a loved one going into assisted living care.

Disappointed

They do not listen to families concerns and they are rude when you talk to them, especially the nurses and they are not respectful of your wishes. The staff is transient. I would not recommend them to others.

Don't send a loved one there !!!

Newer Facility... after 2 years, they still don't know what they are doing. Would NOT recommend the place to anyone. Don't believe all of the Marketing . Poor Procedures Understaffed Management Covering up serious care taking problems Since opening 2 years ago, entire staff has been replaced at least 3 times. Poor communications with family Food is not what was advertised when they first opened. Call buttons rarely get answered. CNA staff not properly trained or supervised and caused my 93 year old mother to have an avoidable fall where she broke many ribs.

Not in his best interests

My brother-in-law stayed at Stonebrook Village for a short while. When we decided to move him because of unreturned phone calls and poor service, the Director called a meeting with family members, my brother-in-law and the Village's attorney. She asserted that my brother-in-law wanted to stay and could make his own decisions even though Stonebrook itself had recommended that he be placed in their memory care unit. She even refused to let my stepson take him for a walk without a Village employee to accompany them. Hard to believe, but true!

Stay away from Stonebrook Village

My brother-in-law lived at Stonebrook for a short time. When we tried to move him because we didn't like the lack of service, the lies and the very slow return of phone calls, the director tried to stop us. She asserted that he could make his own choices, even though Stonebrook knew that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and the facility itself had recommend that he be placed in their Memory Unit.

STAY AWAY!!!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!! Patients have call buttons that aren’t answered, they aren’t bathed as they’re supposed to be (3 x per week). They get orders from the doctor, which aren’t followed, which I called them on last week!! I pulled out the orders and it was clear as day!! This place is a real DUMP!! Do your research and put your loved ones into a compassionate facility, as this one isn’t!!
