A Place for Mom has scored Enriched Senior Living with 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 61 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Enriched Senior Living has 538 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.3 out of 5.
Mom is doing better since moving into memory care. The caregivers have been awesome. This community is well taken care of. The rooms are open to the common areas. This is a smaller community and they are not able to treat wounds. They do administer medications. They have a beautician that comes in once a week. They bring in animals and have other activities. I think they could have done a better job with her evaluation in the beginning as we found that assisted living was not working out for her.

To start with the positive this is a very nice looking community, and they always keep things very clean and well kept. The food is also decent, they serve 3 meals a day and they are generally healthy. The first problem I ran into was that the community made no effort to integrate the new residents into the community, no welcoming event or party or anything. They also just did not seem to have a lot of activities in general. The main problem was the transportation, which was one of the features they sold me on. They have one bus with 15 seats for a community of well over 100 people. It made me late to appointments more than once, and I've had to wait multiple hours to be picked up. It really was not acceptable.

I was really leery of this one. It was definitely a no when I went to go see it. The apartments were all off a breeze ways sort of thing and I felt like that might be a fall risk if it rained. There were a lot of little things that I just didn't feel easy about.

I was not at all impressed by NewForest Estates. There are separate buildings so if residents need to get to the dining room, activity room, etc. they have to travel outside. They have to keep the doors open because so many people travel with walkers or wheelchairs which we felt was unsafe. The community also just looked very poor and depressing, but the price was high. I would not recommend this community unless you are on a fixed income.

When our loved one was there the meals were not very good or on time so it became an issue for the residents who needed to take medication with their meals. Also we were told they have would activities going on during the week and that was not the case, either they did not have any or no one came to notify our loved one.

We thought it was way too many people in one house. They only had one bathroom for eight people - that's a lot of people! They had another little room with a potty in it for people to use the bathroom but it was like a closet with a toilet in it. It was awful. The staff there was fairly nice - that wasn't an issue. Just the facility as a whole felt like it was outdated and overcrowded. It felt homey because obviously it's house but there were a lot of improvements that could be made. I didn't think my aunt would like it there.

The overall feelings about New Haven't is that there are not enough staff to care for the dementia residents. My mom was left alone in her room and her bedding was often wet. I came in one time and all she had on was her top, no pants or continence briefs. She was deathly afraid of the staff there except for one or two people and often screamed and fought with them. She cried so much and since she cannot complete sentences we had no idea what was wrong except that she didn't like it. She fell so many times there and I wasn't keeping count but there seven falls since [date removed], with most of them requiring her to be taken to the ER for stitches in her head, skin tears (a couple were pretty bad), back pain, contusions and so on. Because she was afraid of the staff she could be combative and would scream, also she refused her meds which didn't help. Although she'd take them easily when we were there. There seemed to usually only be two staff members in the building when we were there, not sure how many were supposed to be there during the day. Everyone was always very nice and talked to us when we had questions. But my mom's health was becoming much worse and the frequency of the falls was concerning. We all felt that she was being left alone for hours because she was not one to sit in a chair in the TV area and be quiet. It just wasn't a good fit for her and the continuing falls worried us and we were afraid there might have been something else going on that we weren't being told so we moved her.

I would tell them not to go to this facility. We pulled my husband out after about 5 weeks. After the fact we found out that none of the aides were certified for memory care, which is required by the state. They did not have insurance that would cover any damage by residents.

1) Lack of staff 2) no efficient method of communicating resident needs or concerns with staff. 3) billing problems, drafting bank for incorrect amounts 3) no transportation available to Dr appts 4) Food is good and well presented, the cook loves what she does! 5) activities director is very good, in addition to monthly activities, she plans special events such a Cinco de Mayo and Mardi gras 6) as is probably typical of all AL facilities some care givers are awesome while others don't care.

I can make this easy, in the beginning when my father in law moved in it was as great place, I would give every category a 5. Then the facility went through new ownership/management and every category dropped to a 1 or 2. He has moved out.

I would not recommend memory care at New Haven. The LVN they recommended to do the intake for my husband changed his dosage on his seizure and psychotic medications without consulting with the prescribing physician, his neurologist. Although he was in the memory care center, they left it up to the ambulatory residents to remember to come to meals even though the memory span can literally be minutes.

We were looking for something more than just a room for assisted living, more like an apartment. The tub in the bathroom was step in and that would not have worked for my loved one. Other than that, nothing special really stuck out to me about NewForest Estates.

I was able to have an in person tour and it was not very interesting at all. New Forest did not really stand out, it is in a woodsy area and it just seemed like it needs a lot of repairs.

The ladies who do the work and the care are very good, however the management was severely lacking. There was often only 2 ladies there for all the residents and we did not think that was adequate. There was also no director there at the time, and we are not sure of the reason. Due to the lack of staff, they weren't able to get back to us ever. We would call and we would rarely get a call back.

Sometimes there is no hot water for bathing, laundry, washing dishes. Security issues – no lights outside and in the breeze ways. Gates that don’t lock, “in-house” [Removed]. Large turnover of staff – cleaning, food, maintenance. Sometimes the kitchen runs out of certain food items.

NewHaven is beautiful on the outside. However, it is very poorly managed. Management has a defensive posture, is reactionary and not proactive. The staff is unappreciated and underpaid, so it's a revolving door. It appears that profit is of higher priority than patient satisfaction and patient healthcare, as food is subpar, eachshift is understaffed and resident rooms are not kept clean. I would NOT recommend New Haven of Kyle.

Not a forever home as expected and needed....New Haven needs to improve their skills in most areas of care and support. Caregivers are caring enough but administration is apathetic and though it is a lovely place at first glance....needs so much more.

My parent has been a resident there and yes, albeit new and aesthetically pleasing it is wrought with problems! Unhappy staff and constant turn-over! Residents left alone, staff not showing up, poor attitudes, cost cutting measures and so on..... Please ask many questions before putting your loved one there. They put on a very good show up front to get you in ( like many places do) and then the problems begin! For the money they charge, they need to really step it up!!
