Nice facility

Overall we're pleased with how things are going at New Forest Estates. My loved one seems to enjoy herself here! It is a nice looking place, and the people are very friendly. However, I do wish they'd have more activities on-site at the independent living portion. Many of the activities take place across the street at the assisted living section, and my loved one doesn't like to make that walk too often.

They have been fine. It's been a rough adjustment. Everyone has been very nice to us. It's kept clean and nice, and I think they do housekeeping once a week in the room. We liked the size of it, it's only got 16 people on each side, and it kind of resembles a home.

This is an overall good community. A good value for the price. The staff is great except for the executive director, [removed]. He is rude and condescending to people. I am impressed with Debra [removed] and Michael [removed]. They are excellent representatives of the community and great advocates for the residents. The food is not the greatest quality but is acceptable. The dining experience is well organized and they do have options for room service. They do have a variety in the menu. There is a pool on the property and a resident dog. The property is near shopping. They are remodeling at this time. There is plenty of parking available. They do have a van and have plenty of outings and trips to appointments within a 6 mile radius. Again a good community!

M husband can not take part in any activities, because of his condition, but we had a very bad time with another home. This one is way better, the staff is very nice and they make sure that you are taken care of. My husband is in a good shape here. I rated the overall experience of the facility four stars.

I havent had any problems so far. they are caring and supportive on making her feel comfortable. she is really happy so far. the staff go the extra mile to help them out which is awesome.

We toured here when we were looking around. It was awesome. We loved the homey feel they had here. We were concerned about food, we didn't get the impression that they would have enough choices, that my loved one would eat, for good diabetes control. It wasn't the right choice for us, but we loved it.

This place is awesome. I'm not positive the smaller environment will be for dad, but I'm taking him there to look around for himself.

A very lovely small facility. The rooms were great with large closets. I like the smallness of the facility which allows more intimate knowledge of each resident. I have only two negatives: first the lighting is not as bright as I would have liked since my mother has macular degeneration and needs bright lighting; also, residents are checked on in their rooms ever hour. I'm not sure I understand the need for checking so often in an assisted living facility (nursing home, yes) and I know my mother would really dislike such frequent checks.

NewForest has an excellent on-site director and Pacifica, the corp. owner, is constantly upgrading and repairing the facility. There is good attention to safety and awareness of resident's missing meals. Services are limited as this is an independent living facility. Meals are generally very good and there are options of delivery or pick up. The services our parents have needed most that aren't available are for someone to do laundry and for transportation to doctor/hospital after regular hours and on weekends. It is truly independent living but has many residents with outside care giver's. the service We need most is an on site services coordinator, social worker, counselor or someone familiar with services to the elderly living on just Social Security and heavily subsidized by children! We have difficulty getting help with information about services and additional help with memory care needs. NewForest is excellent as long as the family is able to stay involved on a regular basis.

Good ratio of caretakers--3 + 1 Mgr for 16 people. End of life facility. Specializes in Memory care. Assists with feeding and prepares soft/puree foods. Private rooms.

They have had a lot of turnover. The community is currently without an administrator and there were two previous in this positions. The activities director is excellent, and I think she should be running the community. Her name is [name removed]. It is the small things like the door bell not working...this might be due to the pandemic. The community is very clean.

It's an attractive place. The building, the grounds.

This community has a new director and things are starting to turn around, and they are making improvements. For the most part the staff members are good, however for the level of care our loved one needs, she does not always receive that care. It is not always consistent. There is just not a lot of care takers for the amount of residents they had. The director is a nurse and the nurse practitioner are very good, but are certainly spread thin. The communication could use come improvement as well. At the moment they are offering bingo on Friday afternoons which our loved one really gets excited about. The main chef at this community is wonderful, he is very accommodating to all of the residents. The overall cleanliness of this community could also use some improvements.

Newforest manager [name removed] is fairly new at this position. He is doing a very good job! Things are changing, for the better. This is a nice place and reasonable prices, compared to other Independent Living facility. I think that the food is good. It 'is' hard to please different palates. There are problems, but (now) they are being addressed. Each day, Newforest has activities for the residences.. If one wishes to partake. Staff is friendly & helpful. For appointments etc, transportation is provided. If one cannot be 'at home', then Newforest is a nice alternative.

This is a nice clean community. I liked the food and they offer some nice amenities. I did have an issue with getting along with some of the staff so I am no longer at this community.

We toured quite a few communities and pretty much they all offered the same things but there was some difference that made us choose this one over others. We really liked the floor plan of this community the best it is setup where my mom can wander as much as she wants and not go anywhere. The community is very clean and well kept. The staff is nice and attentive to the patients they don't have too many assigned to them so they are able to give the attention that is needed to the residents. The food is good here we have eaten here a few times. The price might be a little more expensive than others in the area but for the piece of mind I have, I don't mind.

New Haven has a wonderful activities director, who is very engaging. I have learned from comparison to other homes how important this is for the residents. They have finally addressed the food being served problems. I have found the present staff to be very caring and good with the residents. The decor is beautiful and very comfortable for residents and visitors. Overall New Haven is off to a great start being new.
