My sister-in-law was living there until she needed skilled nursing. We visited often and made friends with other residents . We still visit them and play cards at least once a week. It is a pleasure to be include in special events. The activities director is so creative and giving of her time. There is wheel chair polka dancing, sing alongs, and smiles from all the guests . We were and are pleased to know such a caring place exists. Finding that right placement is not easy. But, you helped so much.

We are so grateful to have found Hickory Park. My mom has been here for almost six months and loves it. The staff here are just wonderful and truly care about my mom. It’s a wonderful mix of privacy in your own apartment and plenty of opportunity to mingle with the other residents for meals and fun activities. Mom is truly thriving here.

Autumn Leaves of South Barrington is the best! If I could give 10 stars I would! It has been a wonderful place for our Mom. The staff is top notch. Wonderful family atmosphere. They have done a great job with her care. Our Mom is safe. To sum up my experience at Autumn Leaves of South Barrington... a quote by Mother Teresa: "Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier."

Was able to visit. Very nice facility. They spent a lot of time with me seeing the facility and going over all the aspects of how they deal with Altzheimers. Very reassuring after my experience with [removed]. Also showed a lot of concern for me. I have decided to go with them.

This is such a wonderful place to live! It's welcoming and friendly. We love to play sheep's head together and I just love the Bingo. It's a fun, fun place to be! I just love it here!

This place is great. I am my sister's guardian and live 2000 miles away. HC took her in quickly, settled her in, dealt with her dementia and acting out. Over the miles, I have personal contact with medical and activities staff. The way they took control of her and her dementia situation is phenomenal. I sleep well at night knowing I don't have to jump on an airplane and deal with whatever daily problems she can cause. She loves the artwork and activities they provide. She has gained badly needed weight. Her room is clean! And most of all, they keep her safe, which she sometimes doesn't like but that is why she is there. They are so good and caring. They even have staff that know our family personally. How great is that! And they keep me posted of "strange" situations that show up - both by phone, text, and email.

My aunt lives here currently and I think things are going very well. She likes the way she’s being treated. The staff has been very good, we haven’t really had any issues. She likes the food and there seem to be plenty of options to choose from. They have a few activities like bingo, games, and movie nights. They also show the Packers games! During the holidays they had tons of parties and they’ll typically throw events for whatever season it is. The building itself is very nice and outstanding. It appears, to me, as a five star hotel more so than a retirement center. It’s very inviting and comfortable. They’re able to give her the specific care she needs while still feeling like home. I would absolutely recommend this place.

I took a tour at this facility and I liked it a lot. It’s a new facility so everything is updated. The staff was very nice and helpful. I wasn’t able to try the food but I saw that they had a lot of options available to choose from. The building looked sterile almost with how clean it was; everything looked beautiful. They had a few activities and even gave us a schedule with everything they provided. Ultimately, we decided against moving my Mom in due to the pricing.

We chose this community for my mom because it was close to my house, but mainly mom liked that the facility wasn’t too big. The apartments are spacious but everything is close enough together so that she doesn’t have to walk long distances and she loves that she can keep all of her own things with her. She hasn’t been there long but so far I’m happy with the staff there and she really loves the food. It’s actually one of the biggest things for her. They have a decent menu and there seem to be a lot of different options to choose from. The facility itself is very clean and they do laundry once a week. I’m not sure how often they take out the trash but the trash cans are always empty whenever I come around. They have a lot of different activities to participate in; even when we first moved my mom in, they were having an Oktoberfest with a huge buffet and music. I would definitely recommend it here, my husband even asks about when he can move in!

Hickory Park is an excellent community. The staff and the way they took care of us from our first encounter there when we toured until my father’s passing, they met us with dignity, attentiveness, and caring. My father really liked that they spoke to him, not over him to me instead. They acknowledged that he was making the decision to live there as well. The community itself is clean and well maintained, and my father really liked that he was able to change his own room temperature, as he was always feeling cold. The floor plans were large, open, and bright. He was always very excited about the food and the many options at mealtimes, and couldn’t wait to have guests so he could share the experience. There were many activities at the community to bring the residents together, all of whom were very friendly. I liked that there was also a nurse on call at night, so if there were any issues, I was relieved to know that help was close by. Hickory Park was wonderful to us, and I would recommend the community to others.

I recently toured Caldwell House in Troy, Ohio and thought the community was very charming. Very clean, smelled great (lunch was being prepared). The staff was friendly and eager to show off their building. The residents were adorable!!

The staff have been accommodating. The food is good they offer healthy choices and have good sized portions. The community is clean and the grounds are nice. There is a nature preserve across the way. The community allows pets and they have some apartments with a walk out for your dog. I would recommend this community.

The change in our mom since she has moved here is Wonderful! She is making friends and she is enjoying herself she is even becoming a real "Cheesehead" and wears her Greenbay Packers jersey. The staff is great, they are friendly, and they show that they care about the residents by their actions. They make sure mom takes part in the activities, special events and she enjoys coming to the dining room and is eating very well. Mom likes her room, the community is bright, open and clean. We're just so very happy with the change we see in her.

My dad is doing so much better, this was the right move and the perfect community for him. I am very thankful, he was suffering from dementia and he was acting out. There were very few places that take a dementia resident who acts out. They were the only one who would take him in. Their staff are trained specifically for dementia. The set up is very calming and excellent for dementia residents, it is less confusing than larger facilities. it is also peaceful and it has really, really made a difference for him. He can go outside when ever he wants. There is an enclosed garden area where they can sit or walk around. It in the shape of an octagon with flowers and shrubbery to enjoy. I am really grateful for A Place For Mom, I was at wits end on where to place him and their help was a huge relief that I appreciate.

I am comfortable and confident with my mom being here and she is doing well. Since she is in a wheelchair, it is very easy for her to get around. The set up is great and open all through the community. She is eating the meals and socializing in the dining room. She was barely eating at her last community.

We like this community but was not as nice as we wanted. The staff was nice and they have a lot to offer. The menu and the activities would have been offered. We would of like this community but it was more than what we could do at the time. We would recommend others to this community for the care of a loved one.

I’m a family member of a new resident, My search began in 2016 looking for a home for my wife. I visited many locations. My search ended the day I stepped into Autumn Leaves of Crystal Lake. I met [Removed] from sales that day. But that visit was not about sales. It was about the care for my wife that was explained to me on what they could provide. Then we toured the facility where I met [Removed]. Both of them took time to talk with me. Where other visits this did not happen. I had a service help me with my finding a home so I didn’t have to take notes. All I did was observe the employees and facilities. I was amazed at the care for the residents that was given out. The happy employees were everywhere. That day I went home and knew where I wanted to place my wife for her care. Today three months later and I’m amazed at the change in her. She is more talkative, active now, then what she was doing at home. The employees give her the time of day when asked. No door is closed. I know she is slowly slipping away from us. However I cannot ask for any more wonderful and caring place for her to be at.
