Paradise Assisted Living was not very appealing. Furniture and rooms seemed worn, old. Greeting was not as relaxed. First mentioned cost,before we had looked at anything at that point. Perhaps it was because we were late.

*Long Post but please read* This place is horrible and the current Head Nurse, is so rude, heartless and in the wrong line of business. If I could give negative stars than that would be more deserving. My mom suffers from dementia and was in the Memory Care unit for a little under a year. She often complained about the place being dirty, the constant overturn in staff and lack of activities available. Prior to enrolling my mom as a resident, I sat down with the Exec. Dir. for hours to see if Woodholme would be a good fit and was reassured that this facility and staff would be more than equipped to accommodate her needs. During the initial sit down, it was made quite clear that our family was very involved in our moms wellbeing and simply asked for open communication regarding her whereabouts and healthcare needs. Once again, we were reassured that we would be notified of matters regarding her in which that rarely happened. The current Head Nurse chose to take matters in her own hands and prescribed my mother Xanax (which was too strong for her body) without notifying the family or mom’s personal physician. Once confronted, the Head Nurse went through great lengths to put my mom out. This included sending my mother to the hospital in the middle of the night without notifying the family of her whereabouts and not allowing her back despite the doctors prognosis that she responded well to her new treatment. There was no advanced notification or communication with the family of this decision and were told that the final decision had been made a week prior. No voicemail, letter, phone call, nothing! To make matters worse, funds have already been withdrawn for this month (April) even though she has not been in the facility at all. Needless to say that my mom was unethically thrown out of the facility in such a crass manner. Overall, The communication between the Head Nurse and executives has been awful to say the least. Numerous messages and emails prior to this incident were sent and left unreturned. It is extremely difficult finding a facility where your loved one can feel comfortable and receive the proper care and attention needed. THIS IS NOT THE FACILITY TO GO TO. If you love your family member and are extremely hands on with how they are being treated during such a fragile and vulnerable point of their life, then I WOULD NOT recommend this place. They do not care about their residents. They are simply all about the money.

Extremely understaffed, patients needs are not addressed or attended too. They over medicate to keep from having to deal with the residents. The residents spend all there time alone in there rooms, activities are non existent. Management says what you as a family member wants to hear with no intentions of following threw. Give strong reconsideration to placing your loved ones in this facility.

I stopped in to tour for my mother in law, and thought it was nice. I wasn't able to make a decision without her seeing it first. Now, They will not leave me alone!!!!! They are over the top with phone calls and mailings.....I have told her our decision is still a few months down the road, and she continued to put pressure on and become rude. Somehow, the nice person I originally spoke with, suddenly disappeared!! You can bet I won't be taking her there!

Let me start by saying I loved Brentwood at first. 2 years ago the staff was competent, but they kept changing hands and the place was chronically understaffed from late 2015 on until the state stepped in recently, though it didn't help much, if any. However, early on, my mother was brought another resident's medications, fortunately, I was there to stop her from taking it and took over medication distribution, but that cost me 3 visits every day for 2years. Staff is friendly on the surface, but suggestions or complaints will net you hositility and passive aggressive behavior. I have true stories that would keep you from even considering Brentwood, but I don't have time to write for days and days. Suffice it to say: When looking for a facility for your loved ones, for their sake, PLEASE look for a place with camera's aimed at the staff. My mother is in such a facility now and it is like night and day, the difference in how she, and all the residents, are treated. Also, camera's should be in the bedrooms and you decide if you want them to be active for staff or just yourself or not at all. This should be law and hopefully eventually will be.

My mother was a resident for 4 grueling months. Facility constant, smelled like urine. Complete lack of communication amongst nurses/shifts/management. Disregard for physician orders. Frequent incidences of lost/missing clothing (undergarments) despite being labeled. Questionable follow through on critical policies. We gave them every chance to remedy situation including meeting with regional management. Sub par care.

please be aware that the owners and administrators decided to lay off all nursing staff. Do not send anyone there unless it is rectified.My dad is there and we are activly looking to get him out. The CNA staff are caring and overworked.

First impressions count and Woodholme Gardens did not make an overall good impression. In short, if nothing else was available, I’d keep Dad home. The place had an odor throughout. It’s dimly lit, drab in appearance. The Director’s slovenly appearance matched his attitude. He was not the warm and inviting type and he did not appear interested. Within the first five minutes of meeting him and telling him about my Dad’s physical condition and needs, he decided that W.G. was not the best place for Dad. I eagerly agreed!

Not impressed at all. I toured about a year ago and it was a completely different place then. I don't know what has happened in the last year but it definitely shows. I toured again last week for my mother. The staff appears miserable. My tour started with staff complaining about the director of nursing in the elevator and how incompetent she is. Then at one point I was introduced to the director, who walked by and wasn't even going to say hi until someone stopped him. He was very arrogant telling me his dad owns the company, like I care who he is or why he got a job there. I just wanted to hear about how they were going to give my mom the best care possible at the end of her life. I received no reassurance. I left there so disappointed. I decided to take my mom to Sunrise.

Tranquility pushes for your loved ones to be put on antipsychotics, and a variety of drugs to keep elderly live ins tranquilized inorder to make their jobs easier and therefore require less staff on their payroll. If you have questions or concerns about your family member don't expect to get cooperation from the head staff or executive staff. I have had to call the Ombudsman in for help and the State of Maryland. They were holding off giving me my mothers records. I had to chase them down to get them and still have not gotten everything. Do not send a loved one to any place that wants to drug your parent when it is not medically needed.

We did not have a good experience at all. The executive director at the time wanted to have a meeting and she proceeded to tell us how our mothers care increased after 2 weeks which would increase the cost dramatically which was not needed. They were not able to tell us why the care needed to be increased. They had a whole calendar of activities that they said they provided but they never happened. All of her clothes as well as her dentures went missing and when we went to move her out, we found out her medications had gone missing. They had a ton of turnover of staff, there were new directors every few months. After we moved her out we kept getting billed from the pharmacy and we were not authorizing the refills. I would never recommend them to others looking.

There was a severe lack of concern, care and communication at this community. When we first toured the facility looked great and we were sold immediately. They pride themselves on wanting the families involved with everything and how great their communication was, and we are not sure if it was because of staffing but they could not follow through with any promises and had no common sense. They would "forget" and make excuses as to why our loved one was not wearing glasses and therefore would result in multiple falls, the medication was never correct and when we would ask to see their medical charts the head nurse would get angry with us and questions us.

Some of the staff have left from what we found out, and they had been excellent. Do not send your loved one here. We have gone through one of the worst experience in our life. They told my loved one that my loved wasn't worth taking care of., due to the medical conditions. The end plative nurse suggested we get hospice and that our loved one was transitioning to end of life. After going to the hospital my loved one was save. There was one caregiver that saved our loved one's life. I would never recommend the community to others.

These reviews are mostly fake. They were written by someone from Symphony. the food is good. The people are good. The place is good. They need to hire someone with a better vocabulary. Thank God we got my father out when we did. He's so much better now.

My 96 year old grandmother had an awful experience there. We had to more her after six weeks. Another resident ransacked her room and then the staff couldn't find her. When we got there, we found her sitting in the dining room shaking and the resident who ransacked her room was sitting next to her. It was very disappointing. Then the doctor discontinued a medication and the staff continued the administer the medication for an additional four days. After that, she had pink eye and the staff didn't provide the cleaning or treatment ointment as directed by the doctor. In the end, the community did refund our money at 100 % to resolve the situation. It really was the worst experience that you could imagine would ever happen to your loved one.

They cut to one nurse per shift but she cannot handle the entire facility by herself. They do not call for appropriate medical care for the dimentia patients who cannot advocate for themselves.

Terrible!! Force activities and exercise down your throat!! and will not take no for an answer, I will be getting my mother out of this place very soon. The care is not what it should be for the money we are paying. They can not keep any employee's including the director of the building!! I suggest looking elsewhere as we are. The place is clean and new, however the care is terrible and if you bring up concerns the nurse manager ( [name removed] ) she gives you attitude!!

I must agree with one other reviewer. If I could rate this place with zero stars I would. The changes in staff seems to be monthly. They do not know the meaning of communication. My mother laid on the floor for an half hour before getting assistance. They notified me 6 hours later. Do not just your loved ones to this place. I will be moving my mother ASAP. Don’t bother contacting corporate for any issues as they along with any management are unreachable.
