Distinctive Living

The people at Brooklyn Point really care about the people who live there. You can feel it in the air. The staff that moved my loved one's furniture in said that they have grandparents that live in a different community and the employees there just don't seem to care. I think the staff and care level is around a 4 or 5 here at Brooklyn Pointe. As an example of how amazing the staff is, I was putting new risers under my loved one's adjustable bed and I could not handle it alone A member of the kitchen staff was on the floor picking up dishes, and he came in and helped me & two other staff members fix the bed. They are just genuinely nice people.

What stood out to us about this community is their outdoor grounds for the residents. Better than any other facility. There is no smell when you enter. No carpet, so easy to clean and no trip hazards. Great activity staff.

Our overall experience here has been very good. Housekeeping is good overall, but I often find my dad's room dirty, bed without sheets, and him in need of changing. This part is not acceptable. Friendliness is good overall, but dad has complained to me that a particular staff member is very rude and uses profanity towards him. Otherwise, the staff is very good! Meals and dining are excellent! The activities are very good, dad just chooses not to participate much and prefers to mostly keep to himself. I chose Ivy Ridge at a higher cost because I believed it would be a superior experience. So far, it has been good, but room for improvement on the things I mentioned above. Medical care component has been wonderful.

This was a nice community. The residents were more social than my loved one would have felt comfortable with. Plus it was a bit bigger than my loved one needed.

They've been very helpful in guiding us through the process. Whenever I reach out to them, they're responsive - somebody always gets back to me. I think the care is good. They offer a lot of activities. The cost seems about average and was as we expected it to be. For a memory center with dementia patients, I would like to see more interaction and communication with the residents. The staff are mostly Spanish speaking, which hinders that a little bit. There are also undetermined price increases every year - just something to be aware of.

I toured this community. The lady we worked with was very nice and gave me a lot of good information and suggestions. The residents here are less mobile and interactive. It didn't fit our needs. However, I would recommend it as an option for those seeking care for loved one's who are less mobile/wheelchair bound or specific care needs (dementia, etc). It was clean and staff was friendly.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They were communicative in terms of what was going on in the community or any issues that came up. The facility was really nice and well kept, and it had a homey feeling. The resident rooms were small but serviceable. My loved one found it a little too rigid with so many rules, but he was more independent than some of the other residents there. Overall he had a positive experience.

It is a very large facility only for memory care. We like that it is not just a wing, so they have the freedom to go anywhere in the building and they have a huge courtyard and 3 outdoor lanias and a gazebo. They do get a menu to choose from. They have 2 choices for every meal. The chefs already have the meals plated and they show the residents the plate and they get to choose which one they want. Overall I have been pleased with our experience at Inspired Living at Sun City Center.

My mom is doing just fine here at Inspired Living Ocoee. In memory care the activities are a little lacking. I would like to see my mom more integrated with the other side for the activities because they have a lot going on over there such as exercise classes ,field trips, etc. which she is totally capable of doing. She always talks about how she loves the food. [name removed] the director of memory care has been really good. If there are any issues I always touch base with him and he is quick to get back to me. Another big plus is they do allow dogs in memory care. So during the week and on the weekends I drop my moms dog off. They are not allowed to stay over night, but she spends all day there. WE really like that aspect because her dog brings her a lot of comfort. Other places we looked at did not offer that as an option.

The tour was fine. The facility was recently updated. It was just too far away for me.

It would be nice to have one staff member that would be able to communicate with all the families and answer all of the emails, phone calls, and speak to us in person and field the requests of the residents and families. I believe they are understaffed. Especially since they moved over the residents from another location that closed, and they only moved over one of the staff members from the closed location according to a staff member. Sometimes it is hard for the residents and families to understand some of the staff members due to the different languages and accents of the staff members.

Brooklyn Pointe is a very bright community and it appealed to our loved one the most which is why we picked it. The activities are fabulous, there is plenty of different things for the residents to do to keep busy. The meals themselves are good, there is nothing wrong with the quality. However as far as those who have diabetes or anything other dietary restrictions they could work on having different snack options. For example during bowling the only snack/treat they have is chocolate. The overall value for the money is completely worth it and we would definitely recommend this community to other families.

It feels like walking into a home, because you walk in and there's a lovely living room. You'll see a baby grand piano with music playing at times. The residents spend time in the common areas; it has a home-like feel when you walk in. My loved one has a studio apartment. It is just enough space, and has a nice little kitchen area with a microwave & refrigerator. She has her own furniture, it was made very easily for her to feel at home when she walks in. In fact, when she walked in she said, "This looks like my house". Some of their activities include music, weekly visits from one of the local Catholic churches with communion, bingo, and outings to the zoo. They have lots of different things to do. She really likes the fact that the food is from a menu, similar to going to a restaurant and picking from the menu. One of the things the family says constantly is: we know that our loved one is safe and taken care of here. I would recommend Brooklyn Pointe to others.

I would refer Inspired Living to anyone whom asks. Overall is a wonderful facility, but they do need some assistance on communication back to the family with updates.

I toured at both the Hidden Lakes location and another Inspired Living location. They were similar, but I preferred the other location. I liked that Hidden Lakes was a smaller community, but overall it was just okay. It had that odor about it, which I know a lot of time can’t be helped but is still off-putting.

The community is an excellent place for a loved one that needs assistance with memory care. This community is more set up for those residents that need memory care, and not for assisted living assistance, in my opinion. The staff are very responsive to the family's questions or concerns during our loved ones stay.

We have had a very good experience here. This was really the only place that didn't have a spend down, and it is a quality place. The staff are very responsive to the family's questions or concerns about our loved one. The residents have choices to choose from for meals, and the meals are served three times a day. The community also provides snacks to the residents.

We had a very quick tour at The Chelsea at Tinton Falls. But the staff were very kind. I thought the facility needed a little updating.

I think it's all been very good. But they stretch the fact that they have a lot of Spanish speaking employees, and they really don't. With My mom's dementia, she's losing the ability to speak in English and is going back to her native Spanish, so sometimes that's an issue. There are some things I wish they would do differently, but I know there is a revolving door of healthcare workers everywhere right now. Overall, I think they do a pretty good job. You have to be realistic and let go of some of your expectations. If you can do that, you'll be pleased. Their pricing is the same as other places I looked into, but the facility is a little nicer. It's freshly painted, and they have a lovely garden where she loves to sit. The reason I picked them is because I knew she could stay there through her whole sickness and not have to move from level of care to level of care like at other communities. She had a difficult adjustment, and they were really good at bringing her into the fold. They're also super responsive to any comments that I might have.

We were very nicely greeted at The Chelsea at Montville, and the tour was very informative. We didn’t choose them because of the arrangement of the shared room - it seemed a little too intimate/close.
