Facility is clean warm and inviting. Staff is friendly, upbeat and very respectful. I have not experienced the food, but my mother in law says she does not like it because it is too bland. I would absolutely recommend Discovery Village Clear Lake to others.

As a geriatric APN, I had many opportunities to visit the independent living communities in my area and when it came time to choose, I chose Brookdale Des Plaines! The community has met all my expectations; the location is close to my family, the quality of my apartment, excellent meal plan, friendly interactions with my fellow residents, the ability to transition to assisted living when needed, and value for the investment.

Staff are great. It is a great value for the money. The food is always lukewarm.

My father recently passed away and I needed to move my mom to a location where she could have company. We know someone who lives at 5 Star so that seemed the logical place to go. The service from everyone at the community has been outstanding. Mom has struggled to acclimate to life without dad and in a new place. The patience that the team has shown has been remarkable. The building isn’t new but neither is my mom. She loves her apartment, the food, and the new friends that she is making.

I narrowed down to 6 places based on proximity to me and reviews. I visited them and narrowed it down to 2 based on conversations with staff and residents as well as tours of the available units. I thought this was the best place for Mom... 1. Residents were very friendly and active. 2. Social activities suited Mom's interests. 3. Staff was very attentive but left me several times to greet residents by name. Many residents still drove and were very active. 4. Lunch and dinner were several hour window --mom had missed several meals because she went for a walk at her last place. 5. Available apartment had a back gate that opened onto the pool in 15 steps. Pool was heated in the winter for 12 month use. Staff PT lead water aerobics there. Mom loves water aerobics. 6. I was invited to come during lunch. One of the menu items was ribeye steak that day. It was delicious. Mom shared my love of good steaks!

Before moving to Brookdale, I researched a lot of communities, and I was not impressed. As soon as I walk into Brookdale Des Plaines and saw residents engaged, I knew this where I belong. I am very happy here and love all various activities especially the outings, entertainment and movies. I would recommend Brookdale!

I am very happy at Brookdale Des Plaines! With Brookdale at Home, I can have additional services if needed and stay in Independant Living. The staff and residents are great! I have recommended Brookdale to friends and family!

What we like the most about TerraBella Southport is the location and size. A nice community and relatively small assisted living facility. We also liked the fact the building was all one level. It made it more comfortable for our Mom.

I have had experience living in another community of of independent living and I have found that there’s no comparison between my other facility and the facility here everything has been acceptable and [name removed] very above board knows no selling us. We’re going to do this today and it doesn’t get done ever. I’ve been very happy with the move and everyone the staff and everything has been wonderful. I was amazed to have all of the heads of every department come visit me when I moved in, very very wonderful welcome!

The staff is always kind and considerate, very supportive. Always with smiles and good attitudes.

Homeplace is a great place for your loved one to stay! The nursing staff provides excellent care and you can tell that they really love their jobs and care about their residents! The business office manager is outstanding; she is willing to answer any and all questions we had and walked us through the move in process with much patience.

Mom has been living at Homeplace for over a year now. She has made so many new friends that include staff, visitors of residents, and other residents. Living at Homeplace has greatly increased her quality of life and her happiness. It has even improved her dementia. The staff treat my mom with love, kindness, and respect and we are all very happy with our decision and selection of Homeplace. The activities and outings are fun for my mom, and she loves the freedom to come and go with her visitors. Her apartment is decorated with all her things from her home and it truly feels like a safe Home for her. Mom says this is easy, stress free living and she loves it.

I have been very happy here at Brookdale. The staff here is gentle, kind, well organized with helping you any way they can. Maintenance is wonderful. Activities never am stops which I participate in surrounding are kept well manicured. Staff is so willing to help you in anyway.

I would rate 5 in every category. Mother had a wonderful 2+ years at Discovery Village and was sad to leave, but assisted living was imperative for her. The activities director and friendliness of staff are two areas that deserve to be highlighted and complimented a great deal!

Having our mother closer to us has been wonderful and not having to worry that she's being well taken care of is such a blessing! The staff at Home Place is great and they always have something going on to keep Mom busy and involved. She sleeps well and so do we!

Everyone has made it comfortable and welcome since we arrived. Also the food is wonderful.

My grandmother spent over 5 years at the Home Place, including through Covid. Not only did she feel at home there, but we as family felt just as welcomed. The staff goes out of their way to plan activities, and I can’t say enough wonderful things about [name removed](Activities Director)!! I highly recommend Home Place!!

My mom moved into Solstice Senior Living in September 2024. She has made some new friends and is really beginning to embrace all that the facility has to offer. Bottom line, if mom is happy, I am happy, and she is happy.
