Commonwealth Senior Living

So far it's pretty good. It's had it's moments, it's taken some time to get the schedule and their needs sorted out. It's a tough transition. The staff is nice, and everything seems very nice. The food isn't as good as we would hope. They seem to offer enough entertainment, and activities. We liked the value they offered.

Overall I have been very pleased. They have done some sprucing up, and they have done some painting. I would recommend the place for others I really would.

First of all, I can't thank "A Place for Mom" enough for helping me. Having to place a loved one in a place away from the home they love is very stressful. A Place for Mom walked me through every step. They set up tours in various facilities until we found the right fit for mom. I'd recommend their services to anyone. We finally decided on Leigh Hall Assisted Living Facility in Norfolk. From the first step in the door, we knew it was just what we were looking for. A beautiful, clean appearance caught our eye immediately. The new wing which they named "Sweet Memories" is for dementia patients. It is decorated in such a way to remind the residents of happier times. Mom mentions to us on every visit that the staff is wonderful and the food is good! You should go see this facility!

We found this community easily just off Hwy 250 across from Martha Jefferson Hospital. We met the morning of Thurs Oct 29/2015. Terri Ball was very friendly, but we found the community too expensive for us. The hallways were narrow and their remodeling to include assisted living was in-flux.

Golden Orchards as far as I can tell is a decent operation. Things are going well at this facility. It is clean. I think they have plenty of activities here. My dad doesn't really participate in them though. Overall it has bee a good experience here.

The staff are very friendly, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. My mother moved in in August, and she has settled in well. She is thriving in this environment. I would like to see the nursing staff to see that she drinks more liquids every day. There has been some staff turnover recently in management and in the kitchen, and I think that the food needs improvement. More red meat needs to be served, at least a couple of times a week, and the coffee needs to be improved. I understand that there are plans to make improvements. Overall, though, the level of care is very good, and the staff have been very kind toward my mother. They are responsive to resident concerns. t's a good place and a good value! It could be great with some adjustments.

The activities were wonderful. Some of the staff was not as trained as my mother needed. She had a lot of medical needs that were not met. She did not adjust well to the facility. Nursing care was not quite what I expected.

I let them know at Whispering Woods Retirement Village that she was a dementia person. She fell and needed her whole shoulder replaced. We have had to move her two different times. I wanted her somewhere with alarms on her wheelchair. She needed somewhere that had a hoyer lift for her to get out of her wheelchair. They put her in assisted living and now it's only been two months and they want to put her in the dementia unit. I just wish they would have realized that upfront and placed her there to begin with. I like the staff that I talk to. But any time anyone visits the staff tell them that she is wondering out of her room. Well, none of the staff contacted me until 2 days ago. Audra and Kat have been delightful and nice. For the most part everybody has said that this is a very nice facility. Also, she is in building five and I have a really really hard time getting a hold of her in that building. I've called 7 times on the weekend and could not get a hold of her. Overall this is a good facility but there are some things about it that really frustrate me.

Our experience with Commonwealth Assisted Living was a good one, overall! The staff here does an excellent job looking after the residents. They are friendly, professional, and very polite! Really the only issue we had is that Mom feels that the other residents here are "too old".

They're in transition, but they have great promise as they move to three levels of care. They are just introducing a full service dining room, but there are still some growing pains. Overall I would give them a four so far.

I think they do a very nice job at Commonwealth Assisted Living! The facility itself is well kept and clean, and unlike some other communities I've had experience with there are never any unpleasant odors. The staff here are friendly and professional, for the most part, although sometimes there are a few things we need to remind them to do. My parents are doing well here, and I like that we were able to keep them together in the same room.

The Georgian Manor is a really nice place. The staff seems to be very interested in the residents. I feel like my mother is safe there. They always check on her. They chat with her and they seem interested in what she does. I think strongly enough of it to recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a place for their mom or dad. The location is good. The food is good as well. My mom always comments about how good it is.

They're very pleasant, they always speak to me when I come in. The meals are always on time, the food looks fine. They have a lot of activities, the director keeps something going every day. I'm very pleased with the whole situation. I'm very happy with the place, it takes a lot of stress off of me concerning his care. I've had no complaints.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. Whispering Woods seemed like a nice place, overall. The staff we met were friendly, and the facility seemed well kept and clean. It's worth a look if you're searching for care in the area.

Except for the price tag everything is working out. It's pretty clean and the staff is friendly. They are just finishing up with a remodel, and it will be pretty nice when it's done. I haven't had any complaints about the food from my loved one, and I haven't tried it, but I know they sent out a resident survey not too long ago, and the food was the complaint.

Overall I think they do a fantastic job at Georgian Manor. The facility is probably the best in the area, and for the most part we've been thrilled with it. The staff are very friendly, and they've accommodated us and our loved one in a lot of different ways. Even the food is very very good! However, we did have one major hiccup regarding my loved one medications, which ended up being quite serious. After that incident they've really gone above and beyond working with us to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Upon walking in, I noticed there was live music playing. There was also a gorgeous lake in the back. If Nana were to stay here, she would be able to look out and see the lake, but not able to go outside to enjoy it, as the memory care unit's outside area is towards the front, by the parking lot. It is nice, though. The rooms are nice and have a bathroom. There is no kitchenette area. It was mentioned that they do have companion rooms, so Nana could stay in a companion room, however no one else would be in there with her as there is no one waiting for a companion room at this time. The memory care unit is one long hall and there is no stratification of patients. Some are severely suffering, others are not. I do like their all inclusive pricing model. It may be a bit far, as it is next to Thunderbird Lanes in Willow Grove.

Nearly three years ago I began looking for an assisted living facility for my mother Candy Leary. My parents lived in Lancaster County PA and my father had recently passed away. It was evident my mother could not live by herself. So I began looking into assisted living in the Blacksburg / Christiansburg VA area since I wanted her close to me. CAL was recommended to me so we visited the facility and I was thoroughly impressed. The staff could not have been more caring and I knew I had found a place where Mom could live happily and safely. And as they say, the rest is history. An already beautiful facility, the complex received a number of recent upgrades that make it even more appealing. There are plenty of activities for her and she really enjoys living at CAL. For me personally I find great comfort knowing she is well taken care of when I travel. We're so blessed to have CAL in our com munity and could not be more pleased with the remarkable services they provide. Well Done!!

Overall I think they do a good job at Kings Grant House. The people here are always very friendly, and take good care of the residents. However, they do have an issue with forgetting small details when it comes to more often than not.

We're very satisfied with Churchland House. The staff are all friendly, and they've been very accommodating to any requests we have made. It is a nice place, overall.
