I was impressed with Commonwealth during my visit. Although not as impressive from the outside as some other places I’ve visited, the inside was very nice. My tour guide knew everyone by name and seemed genuinely caring. Breakfast and dinner is included six days a week and brunch on Sunday for independent living. The apartments were very nice. Lots of closet space and outlets. It is smaller than some places which makes it very easy to get around the facility. Overall I was very happy with my visit.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t really like at Commonwealth. But they didn’t really get back to me after our tour, so I didn't spend a lot of time looking into them. The sales rep at a different community was amazing and made things really easy, so that other community is where we ended up.

So far so good

So far so good. My loved one is still waiting on the room that she wants that has a kitchenette in it. I would just tell others to ask a lot of questions up front, the little things you don't normally think about like the internet, who will help during move in, etc. Overall I would recommend to others looking.

Our Tour Experience

The Saybrook was a very nice place, all one level, and a beautiful facility. We came very close to moving in. They came to our home to do the assessment, but they said they were just not ready for him to move in. I'm not sure exactly why, although it could have been related to the pandemic. We needed more immediate placement, so we ended up selecting a different place.

Would recommend for a family that is persistent and present in advocating for their loved one during Covid.

There was an extreme lack of communication from the nurses and aides who were actually assisting my loved one. The administrative folks were very responsive. But as far as getting blood pressure readings, making sure medications were being administered, that bed linens were clean, and that my loved one had basic supplies, there was no communication from the people who were taking care of her. Which I didn't like at all. This very well could have been because of Covid. But because of Covid, I think communication should have been even better, as opposed to what I experienced. I understand that had I been able to go inside more and see for myself, my questions would have been easily answered. As it was, it was difficult to ask over the phone and then not get a call back. When we moved my loved one in and out, it was very nicely kept, and it didn't smell. I can't complain about any of that. She told me that the food was great. She was a dessert fan, so desserts evidently were really good. And they often had fresh fruit, which she enjoyed.

Nice physical plant that is apparently well taken care of. The lounge and dinning are large and cozy! [name removed] took me on a brief tour. The private rooms are spacious and handicapped friendly as they have a creative Activity Director. On the down side, they have an up front fee of $2500 they claim is used to refits the room before occupancy. Cost is moderate. No in-house physician is a bummer! But overall, this is a possible!

Very satisfied

I chose Addington Place of Grand Rapids because it just felt homey and it seemed like it would be a good fit for my mother, it is a smaller community. The room sizes here were decent compared to others we saw. I ate here a couple of times and I was not impressed, the food does not seem to be fresh. Generally Excellent, Administrator Issues

I would tell my friends that it was good for my loved one when he lived there. When I had concerns I couldn't get a hold of the administrators to voice my these concerns. It took almost a week to get a hold of her. The reason for my concern was that the staff was supposed to be making his bed, and it wasn't being done. The room my loved one had, it was a two bedroom with a kitchenette. The room wasn't very handicapped accessible. The sink was hard for my loved one to roll under the bathroom sink and, it was ok for showering for my loved one. They did have handlebars in the bathroom for assistance. The staff that did the cleaning was great.

Friendly and affordably priced

We chose Commonwealth Senior Living because of the location to other family members as well as it was reasonably priced compared to other facilities for what they offered. They have 3 different sections to the facility, memory care, independent living, and assisted living. My aunt was in independent living and she had a good sized apartment. When she moved into assisted living, it was more like a good sized hotel room. My favorite part about the facility is the friendliness of the staff members here.

A great place to look into

We chose The Landing at Willow grove because it was a good value and the location was the key point for us. The room sizes are good, especially for the price you pay. The food is nourishing compared to other places we went to and toured. My favorite part about this community has been that they are very receptive and the staff members push my father to participate in activities. I would recommend this facility under the right conditions.
