Commonwealth Senior Living

We chose The Devonshire because I liked that the nurses were there on staff and you do not have to hire them separately. She loves the activities and the food. The staff are all super friendly and know my mom and me by name. I think it is a great place and I would recommend the facility to others.

We decided on Commonwealth because they commented on their fresh food program. I have found that is not always the case though. It is not that it isn't fresh, it just isn't the quality that they described during the tour experience. The facility seems to be very clean. My mother is well taken care of and whenever she calls for assistance they call as they can to help.. I would overall recommend this facility to other families.

The community could always be a little cleaner but overall it has been a good experience. The staff members are very friendly and from what we hear the meals are really good .

Overall I think it's a good place compared to so many others. Every place goes through attrition, and with the economy it's hard to keep people hired. When we first began, the care was a lot better. But they have lost a lot of manpower. They are shorthanded more than I would like to see. If they could hire more staff, I think the care would be great. The food is good, as were the activities with the old activities director. They hired a new one, so we'll see how that goes. Overall we're still excited for our loved one to be there. We just hope they're able to hire more staff for quicker response times. If we had to choose again, we would still choose Commonwealth. We have not been disappointed. And I would encourage other families to come check them out.

My loved one is happy, but does not like the food. We picked this community because, it was a closer location, and was more convenient. They could do better with the food. They are very repsonsive. and it's a good place. I would recommend to other families.

Our family had an in person tour and we did think it was a nice community and a nice tour experience but it did seem a little chaotic.

They're doing a great job. My mother had a tough transition that had more to do with her than with them. I though their help in trying to mitigate everything was outstanding. She did manage to sneak out the door once. They got on it quickly, and their communication to us was great - they were very transparent. But it did happen. Fortunately there are no major roads right - the location is more remote near residential neighborhoods. And they've used it as a training opportunity for their staff. In general our personal experience and situation has been tough, but they exceeded our expectations when it came to assessing my mother and providing a safe and caring environment for her. I really like that the facility is all on one level, which makes it easier to navigate. Another big positive is they bring in music once a week, and I think music therapy is important for people with dementia.

The care seemed very nice. Very very friendly staff and went out of their way to try to help my dad and I. Just it really came down to the price of cost

My mother is having a much better experience at Commonwealth Hampton than her previous facility. The facility is well lit and I like that they have cameras in the hallways. There are plenty of staff to handle the residents needs. The staff seem to genuinely care about their patients and enjoy their jobs. There are plenty of activities provided and a good variety. The director is very approachable and down to earth. They are transparent about everything, not fake at all and you can see what you are getting.

This is the only facility that I visited multiple times. They were not the least expensive, but I felt most comfortable having him here. The staff was amazing, we did have an issue with one person. The assistant director was efficient in taking care of a problem that was brought to their attention. That eased my mind a lot. Whether it is the assistant director, finance person, maintenance, kitchen staff etc. they are just all so friendly and willing to help. I would recommend Commonwealth Senior Living at Hampton to others and already have.

I would recommend for community to others for their loved ones. The staff provided great care, the community had a great value for the money, and the responsiveness to the family's questions makes this a wonderful community for loved ones. There are three meals a day provided to the residents, and the community with the resident to accommodate requests.

Nice place overall. Administrative staff - head nurse seemed overwhelmed with way too many people coming at her.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a very nice facility, the staff all seemed very professionally an. However what was the deciding factor to not pick this community is that in their memory care unit, the memory units are shared rooms and that was just not going to happen for our loved one.

This facility is pretty clean. The housekeeping is up and down. They have lost a lot of my loved one's clothes with the laundry service. I wouldn't recommend them.

It's been a good experience for us. It is a nice location for Hampton, VA and it is a nice area. There are two meals that are included. There is a full kitchen in the apartment for my loved one. There are washers and dryers on each floor of the community. The staff communication with the resident and family has been good. The price could be a better value and transportation for doctor appointments outside of Hampton could improve for the residents.

We were very familiar with the Ballentine before, so that was one of the reasons that we had chosen this facility. The other was is she had friends there as well.

My loved one, does find some activites to partcipate in. It's a great place for elderly parents to go and have interation. The activite to keeps them young and fit. My only concern is, the upkeeping of maintanence could be improved/better.

We had a very positive tour experience with Commonwealth At the Ballentine. I liked the facility a lot and also really liked marketing person and the director as well. It is located downtown so there is quite a bit of traffic and they had very little parking. It was also very pricey compared to some others we looked at.

They're a good place and they seem friendly. I'm not having any problems with them so far.

I believe is probably the best facility for my loved one.
