My loved one, does find some activites to partcipate in. It's a great place for elderly parents to go and have interation. The activite to keeps them young and fit. My only concern is, the upkeeping of maintanence could be improved/better.

We had a very positive tour experience with Commonwealth At the Ballentine. I liked the facility a lot and also really liked marketing person and the director as well. It is located downtown so there is quite a bit of traffic and they had very little parking. It was also very pricey compared to some others we looked at.

Our loved one is experiencing great care. They're every flexible with his needs. And they're very accommodating to him and to us. The only issue we've been having is discrepancies in billing, which then have to be discussed and explained. Some charges are higher than what were expected. They did adjust the bill when we brought it to their attention, but then the next bill was higher again.

My loved one spent about 8 or 9 days at Commonwealth Senior Living at Hampton. It was a good experience; there were no barriers to me visiting, so I saw her everyday until she passed. The staff were definitely friendly, and I had better communication with the staff here than at her previous community. I was able to visit everyday and find out what was going on. There weren't too many problems, as they were responsive and kept me updated.

Don't expect once you are moved in for them to listen to concerns. I have found there is no sense of urgency from the staff unless it negatively impacts them. We are still waiting for a toilet paper holder to be fixed for example.

Commonwealth Senior Living, like everyone else, is somewhat understaffed. There's a labor shortage, so I understand that they can't help that. I like that the staff have been together for a long time, so they know each other well. It feels like there may not be that much turnover. I like that they are experienced and have worked with each other for awhile. I also like that it's a small community, so people don't get lost in the shuffle as they might in the larger multi-floor communities. As far as activities; they take the residents out to meals, birthday parties, bingo, and they'll have them go outside to play with soil and garden. Even though my loved one doesn't participate much, they talked her into going outside to eat her lunch. That was nice because she really enjoyed that. Communication between the community and our family has been good; especially good during this difficult time, as my mother-in-law is in hospice. That created the need for me to communicate with them more, as it's very important right now. Overall I would recommend Commonwealth to others.

The guy who gave me the tour was very informational and did a really great job at answering questions and showing me all around the facility. This Commonwealth location had 2 levels to it. The only room they had available was on the top floor and my loved one had just had hip surgery so we were looking for a place that would all be on one level.
The staff members could at times maybe improve on their overall response time, but the staff really do care about all of the residents living there. Based on the overall experience so far with CommonWealth Senior Living we would recommend the community to other families.

We really like their overall communication - they send out monthly newsletters to all the families. If there is a problem we can quickly address it to someone that is in charge and they are able to handle it in a timely manner. They are constantly working on improving things.

It was hard for my loved one because he's blind. I don't know that a lot of the people knew, and he's not one to tell people. I was a little disappointed that they didn't really have activities that could accommodate a blind person. When we visited, we went to a social they had with cupcakes and wine, which was okay. But I didn't really feel a part of it. Their communication at the very beginning wasn't great. I had asked if we could bring in his medication in pill boxes sorted by the day, and they told me yes. But it turns out they have to be in the original pharmacy containers, and nobody told me that even after he got there. So he was without his medication for three days, which I was not happy about. I think important details like that should be better communicated. Also, when I went to get his stuff to check him out, I was surprised I didn't have to sign anything. And they also billed me in error for after he left. They did work with me to resolve that issue, but it was frustrating nevertheless. I wished there would ha been more for my dad to do and that they would consider people's handicaps more. Had that been the case, he probably would have stayed.

The staff members at Commonwealth are super friendly, at times they do see understaffed but the staff they do have there do a great job. The care services are very good, our loved one has actually improved since moving there. The community is always clean and they always have someone there picking up things. The rooms are really nice with tall ceiling, very open and have plenty of storage. Overall the meals look pretty good, the assisted living side seems more like going to a restaurant whereas for the memory care side they bring the meals to the residents. However it is to be expected and they seem good. Based on the activities board it seems like they have good things going on. They take little day trips - recently some of the residents on the memory care side went out to get ice cream. They have little music concerts, a TV lounge, and different memory care activities and games.

It has been a very positive experience. The staff seems to be fairly cheerful, and they interact well with the residents. My friend says the food is really good. It's a clean facility. The only issue is sometimes getting feedback and answers to questions can be difficult. You just have to find the right person to get an answer. But overall we're very satisfied with the care. She's happy and safe, and gets the attention and care that she needs, which is the important part. She would rather be at home, but since that's not doable, this is a good alternative.

Depending on your financial circumstances, I would recommend depending on what your family member or loved one needed. This is a better environment for my loved one. The food is inconsistent. The weekdays seem fine but during the weekends she said the choices aren't great. Breakfast is fine, she is not a fan of lunch and dinner. Food seems to be the biggest issue. They offer a lot of activities including bingo and activity room games like bingo as well as trips they take. They do have a happy hour. People come in a play music and she does enjoy the music. We did have a rent increase within the first 3 months, hopefully that is a one time thing. The cost was one of the top reasons we picked this place. She is happy for most part and that's what matters.

They are short staffed. The people that I do see there are very caring. My loved one loves the food but up until recently it has declined. They try very hard to keep the activities going. The place is clean. There is room for improvement. We like the smaller size and the one level because it's easier for my loved one around. The therapy staff alone is 5/5 stars!
