Very nice, affordable, clean, good location. Residents seem happy and very interactive. Only concern is her safety as there seems to be no way to ensure that she will not wander off outside.

Director fairly new to the facility. New management is bringing in very positive changes. Very pleasant lanai and patio areas. Some residences have a little patio. Had a super lunch with one of the best salad bars I have ever seen at an institution of any type. Place cards in the dining area so that the staff can make sure residents are eating. Did not particularly like the settin outside of the grounds. Kind of industrial. Kitchen and closets were small. Closet in bathroom had no door.

We had a very nice tour with Colonial Oaks, but nothing really stood out to me. I know they just bought a facility out south and I am excited to see what they do with it.

A nice facility and was good to our Mom but whom ever evaluated her to go there did not do a good job. She was really not eligible as this was an assisted living facility and Mom needed Memory Care as she is not able to care for her self. After a couple days they realized that she could not stay there and they didn;t have the staff to care for her so we were ask to find some place else to move her. They didn;t have an opening in there Memory Care.

I enjoy and appreciate the team at Autumn Leaves. They are very gracious and caring people. That is reflected in their care of my mother. I have such peace of mind when I am not with my mother. Thank you to the wonderful team.

I toured this community for care. We did not like the staff that was very pushed. We felt like it was a high-pressure sale. We did not like that the other residents were not active and that the staff kept the residents alone while listening to music. They did have activities that we offer. We suggest that families tour this community

Autumn Leaves was our first experience ever with an Assisted Living/Memory Care facility. From our first meeting, we noticed how lively all the residents were. They were all up and moving not sitting around looking sad and somber. The facility was nice, clean, well lit and inviting. The staff was kind and caring. They didn't always do things exactly the way I liked but they were easy to talk to, listened and made adjustments as requested. Like any facility for seniors, you must advocate for the resident. Be their eyes, ears and voice. Communication is key and Autumn Leaves staff did a great job of communicating with the family. I would recommend them to others in need of memory care.

The best thing I like about Colonial is they do a lot of activities for their residents. Even if the person is not capable of doing the activity, the person is always in the room where the activities are taking place. The residents are usually dry and clean. The techs are very careful that no one falls. They keep almost everyone in the TV room when activities are not being done. Which in my opinion the tv room is much too small. The staff is always friendly. The staff seems to care about the residence. The least thing I like about Colonial is they just don’t have enough people. This has caused the common areas to not be clean. The kitchen is terrible. The floor is not clean each day. The food is not so good. However I can tell u that if a resident needs help with eating their food, the staff will to help. I can say it’s an improvement over the Memory Care we where currently in.

I would say it's a typical assisted living facility. There was a constant change in the staff. The Director would say one thing to me and something completely different to my mother. It was difficult to get the Director to communicate with my mother via email. He preferred to send me emails rather than my mother. Exactly 30 days before her one year anniversary, the financial person sent me a very confusing email regarding a rent increase. When I told the Director he had to communicate with my mother, since she was the resident, he simply ignored me. They were proposing a rent increase of 15%. When I asked why, the Director said, "because we can." They went weeks between cleaning her room and then said it was her fault for not reporting it to the office. The food wasn't good. They were ALWAYS slow to respond when she pressed her alert button. Several times I had to call them to get them to go check on her. She actually moved out on [date removed]and moved in with my sister.

Mom only got to stay 1 night then she was sent to the ER she was there for 3 days and passed away. I was told by Colonial Oaks since I signed the papers even though the director had not we were not getting any of the money back since I signed the form and she stayed 1 day. We spent almost $[removed] for the 1 day.

There have been numerous resident complaints about food quality, variety, amount, lack of condiments, lateness of delivery and frequently meals not delivered. This has been addressed with the Director, who seems uninterested. Based on the issues with the food, I would not recommend The Village At Alameda. Residents in any facility look forward to meals and they should be a source of enjoyment. Other than that, the staff is very accommodating and seem to be very caring. A director with some experience and proper training would recognize and appreciate the needs of the residents.

It was an ok facility however...There is a need for more interaction with patients. There are a few activities but not enough. Especially weekends. Patients were bored. Facility is understaffed on weekends. Kitchen should prepare more flavorful foods. Staff needs mindfulness of attitudes and respectfulness towards patients and families. Facility needs better housekeeping skills. Patients personal items frequently went missing.

The staff is awesome, the administration is where I have my problem. I think the biggest disappointment was, after a couple of weeks the friendliness, the amount of time to get back with you will change, it all changes and you see your a number. Now as far as the actual client, he is happy and comfortable, and that is why we haven't moved him. They have this great outside area, they never ever let them out there. It's a tough job they have, but I feel even if the situation is somewhat bad/uncomfortable, instead of excuses and sweeping under rug why not face it and try to make me feel better about it.

We took my mom in on a Thursday and a lot of the people were really nice and took great care of her. But there were other people who did not seem qualified or interested in what they were doing. When we got there no one knew what was going on with the medication, it was unorganized. The following day we asked if anyone would get her her pain meds and the nurse did not know. She came back and we asked what medication it was and she did not know what exactly the medication was, she just said it started with an A so that was concerning especially because she was the one in charge of all medications. Another time we asked for someone to help my mom and we looked in the courtyard and 4 out of the 5 staff were taking their break out there at the same time so that was frustrating. There were some great staff and not so great staff. Overall it was just a mixed bag.

Our family had an in person tour and the community is right down the street from us and we were so hoping that it was going to work out. The lady who gave the tour was wonderful, she did an amazing job. However on the tour we just did not see anybody, there were no residents out and about, it just did not look lively. The dining area was not very inviting, and they have pipes all exposed in the hallways from a water issue years ago and it still has not been fixed. They do have a really nice court yard area. This community has potential.

I toured this facility while it was still Blackhawk and I was not impressed with their memory care section. I know that it has recently been bought out and I am really hoping it improves. It would be nice to have a place like this out south.

I like this place, but the tour guide person did not treat me in a professional manner--that is why this one got crossed off of my list. LOVE the rooms! BIG and huge walk in closets, every one has a patio, inner courtyard. The price is all inclusive, but there is a move in fee. They have good incentives to move in. Cable package is small and cannot be upgraded, if that is an issue for you or your loved one.
