Cogir Senior Living

I would give this facility a 3 out of 5 as far as the looks go. I am not knocking them because it seemed like a great place, but appearance wise it definitely could use some updates. The guy who showed us around was extremely nice, It was just not the right fit for us.

We did not like this this community. This was not the right environment that we were looking for for our loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and we did not really appreciate the experience, some negative things stood out to us pretty quickly

Mom has been here 5 years. Last March it went from Sunrise to Cogir. Horrible management w Cogir. Horrible communication w the transition and it continues downhill. Staff is lovely but they aren’t trained,kind but not trained. Way too much tv , nothing happens in the evenings and the walks have stopped under Cogir.

Overall it has been a good place for my loved one to move to for their safety. There are communication errors with the care services, that could be improved. The hiring of more staff and better communication between the resident and care staff could help improve the overall rating for communication. There is an answer to my emails within 24-48 hours; however, there isn't always a resolution provided by the community to me about my concerns or questions. The food isn't consistent in quality and taste according to my loved one. The activities are pretty good, as my loved one likes to engage in them. There is bingo, chair yoga, outings for the residents, and more for activities for the residents to choose from. They have a new driver starting next week for transportation. Cable, utilities, housekeeping, laundry service, room and all three meals are included in the monthly rate. Medication management and bathing assistance are some care that the community is able to provide for my loved one. It is a nice location for the family to be able to visit my loved one.

Atrium Village is a HUGE facility. You get a very cooperate feeling from them from the second you walk in, it just felt cold. The facility is beautiful and has a lot of updates and fancy fireplaces. We walking into the memory care wing and it looked like it had not been touched by any of these updates and was painted burgundy and green. They said it just had updates but it did not look like it.

They have a lot of different activities that I do enjoy going to. However it does take awhile to find your way around, they could benefit rom having a map, layout or an orientation. I had to ask around for awhile when I first got here on where to find certain things.

The tour at this community was nice but we just knew that this community was not thee right fit for my loved one at the time. They gave me all of the information that I needed and answered all of my questions.

We toured with Avamere at Albany and we felt that the atmosphere was kind of dark and plain. We were looking for a place where you walk in and it is bright and cheerful.

Touring Cogir of Vallejo Hills was a strange experience - it felt like touring Hogwarts. The facility was great. The views were great. The grounds were pretty. But it was like a maze. Even the lady giving the tour at one point wasn't sure where to go. If someone who worked there was having problems, them Mom would not have been able to navigate it. Every unit she showed us was beautiful. There were mostly able bodied people there, which would be great if you have a loved one at that functioning level. We just wanted a place that was more our loved one's pace. I think for anyone fully functioning with no cognitive decline, it would be a great place. I would live there myself! It was just really hard to navigate.

This location was not good, it is in the center of the city and just had too much going on.

Nice place with friendly people and staff. We definitely need more staff. The under staffing has resulted in poor service and poor support in dining and cleaning service. The present staff need it thank you for what they do.

So far so good is it perfect no but we still get along here.

Most of the staff was very good. There were attentive and truly caring. The apartment was clean. But one of the major reasons why I put my loved one there and chose that location was the food that was presented to us in our luncheon tour. And once she moved in, the food did not compare in any way shape or form after that point. Their kitchen staff is terrible. Inmates at the local prison get better food than the residents at Cogir of Sonoma. I met with the executive director about it, and he was very nice. But it didn't look like there would be changes anytime soon. I wouldn't put a family member there because the food is so bad. I had never seen so many thin people in my life. The meals are so small, nothing at all like the big meal they served us when we toured, which apparently was all for show.

I would advise to make sure that this community is fully staffed before you even consider it. If they are not I would say no. It was just the staffing issue that caused us a problem. they had activities like, work outs, movie nights and outings to go shopping. They had a lot of different things to pick from to keep the residents busy.

I was not really impressed with this community. It was just not what we were looking for.

I would encourage you to look around at other communities. My loved one doesn't like the fact that the community is understaffed, this is other at communities as well. The turnover is huge here, it seems like there is somebody new all the time. The call button wait times are extremely long.

It seemed like the residents here needed more care and I was looking for a place more independent. Their meal plan also includes 3 meals a day and that is not something I wanted.
