We toured this facility. While the price was reasonable, the apartments were smaller than we wanted for my Mom. The one bedroom option was a large room with a patio.

My mother is a resident with advanced Alzheimer's. Even though my brother and I were told that their memory care facility was capable of caring for her, we have found that the staff is not trained to deal with her aggressiveness and are not capable of redirecting her without getting into a confrontation. We are continually getting calls to come and settle her down. We have agreed to their recommendations to send her to a specialty mental health unit for evaluation where they made recommended chances to the way she was being cared for that would help with redirection and less confrontation. My mom was also put on medication to help. We are still getting the calls to come everyday from 3:00 to 6:00 as this is the time they can not control her. This is hard to do when you have a job. Also, this is what I thought we were paying them for. They are also unsuccessful at getting her to bath or change clothes so she often smells of urine as was also noted when she arrived at the mental health evaluation facility. They just are not trained to handle someone with Alzheimer's. My Brother and I feel we have made the wrong choice in bringing our mom to this facility. I feel they are good at taking care of residents who are less mobile and more complacent than our mom . The other problem with this facility is the building she residents in was described to us as for memory care only, however, several of the other residents are not memory care residents and the mix of residents seems to be a problem when they are around my mom. I feel bad for them and realize that we need to find a facility where the staff only takes care of patients with similar mental health issues. We are now actively looking to move our mom to another facility that can give her the kind of care she requires. We are disappointed that we have to move her again but this place is just not working for her. Hopefully they make they level of care more clear in the future or they provide better training for the aids to handle Alzheimer patients. Thank You

Had the ambience of a northwoods lodge, so very homey. Their approach to care is very one-on-one, with a focus on making activities as engaging, as much fun, as possible. Was impressed with much of what we heard and saw. But the rooms are little more than nursing home size, with no in-room facilities (kitchen, laundry, etc.) for those who wish to retain as much independence as possible.

There was a little confusion when I called ahead to confirm the tour as to who was going to give the tour. Instead of meeting with Danielle, Rachel gave us a tour. I felt like Rachel did know a fair amount about the facility but she was not great at giving the tour. I did like the activities and staff friendliness. They also do not provide a la carte services. You get everything for one price. The per month price is more than other places but if you consider all the services it's competitive. Availability is an issue and the disorganization was a turn-off but I have not ruled it out.

The facility and food are good. The care, especially at night is not good. After pulling a call button, it is not uncommon to wait 6 hours before someone shows up. These places are never staffed appropriately at night. That goes for them all, not just White Pine. They can never keep people or hire who they would like because no one wants to do these jobs anymore. People are always calling in sick which contributes to the lack of staff. It is very clear what the problem is in this industry. They simply don't pay enough to keep anyone. Such a shame!

The building is very nice and homey. The staff work hard but it doesn't seem like there are enough staff on hand in the evening hours. The food is pretty bad, according to my loved one. There is no personalized programming for memory care or evaluations, as were promised in the orientation. The manager is defensive if there are any issues so it is difficult to get things resolved. The threat of retaliation is common. Unfortunate because many of the caregivers really do care about the residents.

White Pine has had a lot of employee turnover and has not changed with the needs of the aging community there. They run very, very short staffed, especially on weekends. The aides themselves are very caring but are put to the test if one thing goes wrong on weekends. It is hard to move someone after living there a long time because they cannot keep up with the progression of aging that will happen with your loved one and that is not what we were told many years ago when we moved in. The food is tasty, but they do use a lot of pasta, tomato sauce and ground meat, which is not always good for older people. Rules change and caregiver is not always told about it.

Until a few months ago I would have agreed with the previous assessments. The facility has been sold, however, and has new in -house management and RN. Staff has been reduced and with it timely housekeeping and the dispensing of medication. The staff remains remarkably friendly and try very hard, but they are stretched too thin.My parent loves the social activities and the food is good.

Although the staff is friendly, I find their knowledge of how things are run there disheartening. I wish they had done more research before I moved my stepfather in, for I would probably have picked a different facility to meet his needs better. Most elderly are set in their ways for various reasons, and when most of their independence has been taken away due to their aging, EVERYTHING that can be kept the same is crucial, no matter how small it may seem to someone else.

Please don't let your parents go there. I think the staff is great. I realize some people are hard to please. But I made a mistake letting my mother go there. The food is terrible, the cleanliness is good, the staff is good. But the food is junk. Prisoners eat better then what they feed at comforts of home in river falls. the other nite they had banquet pot pies for dinner. last wk was there they had like a press chicken it was terrible. A lot of times my mother tries to cook for herself. I talked to some of the residents and they said the food is garbage. I seen one old man bring his own kettle of noodles down and put it on his plate. food is terrible.

My wife used to live at this facility and unfortunately, I had to move her out. I felt like the care she was getting for what I was paying, wasn’t good at all. I knew other people who lived here as well and they didn’t like it. When my wife was moving out, she had lost some brand new purses as well as shoes. When I spoke with the facility, they said they would find them. I have yet to hear of anything. I would not recommend this facility to other families.

Of the properties, we toured, this was our least favorite. The resident rooms are very small. And the individual that gave us the tour, didn't have answers to a lot of our questions. We toured the memory care building. The person that gave us the tour was going to contact the person in the assisted living building so that we could also tour that. But we've never heard from them.

I wish I would have not counted on the outside appearance, because the care is below standard. The laundry is suppose to be done 1 or 2 times per week and I waited two weeks before complaining. They did the laundry and placed it in the middle of the floor without putting it away. This is a memory care unit and it very much upset my mother. They had a outbreak of flu so everyone was on quarantine, and this is 2 1/2 weeks later and the bathroom has not been cleaned ! They do walk mother to eat but not back to her room , which upsets her. I really believe they do not have training in dementia or Alzheimer's because routine is imperative, and there is none.

Unprofessional and uncaring: that is the way my family would describe the care our loved one received at the memory care facility. Our experience was that the attending staff were inattentive, and inadequately trained and supervised. Example: we found staff sleeping in the common area more than once. Special and important medical needs were not consistently attended to. Our loved one experienced weight loss which we attribute to a lack of attention by staff in the dining room. The facility, though fairly new, had various items in need of repair which were only repaired once we repeatedly complained. I could go on and on. We addressed our concerns with staff and management a number of times with spotty results and no follow-up. Within two weeks of admission, we began looking for other facilities, and moved our loved one out 30 days after admission. Once relocated, we notified White Pine that we felt we were due a refund as promised in their “Satisfaction Guarantee”, as promoted in our admission materials. After more than a month process, we were provided with no refund for reasons which we find bogus. Since moving our loved one to a different company's facility, the experience has been 100% better. We recommend you find facilities other than White Pine to receive quality care.

My father has been here for a few years and the quality of care has gone down tremendously. The turnover is so high and we have seen six house managers come through here. The current manager is not friendly at all and not very helpful when asked a question by myself, my father or another family member. I have also witnessed her being very rude to her employee's. It seems like we inconvenience her. She has not been at any of the holiday activities they have had. The staff does their best but with the amount of staff they have they are not able to provide quality care. I have had issues with the nurse on site as well. It seems as though she doesn't know about any of the medications that my dad takes and he is always getting his meds late. They have messed up his meds and he is able to tell them that they made a mistake. His apt is suppose to get cleaned once per week and it does not. For the money that they pay, he could stay at a hotel and get better service. Quality of food is awful

This facility has a very good sales person to get you in the door but the care she promises is not what you get. The care to the residents is not good. There needs to be training or more training on how to handle residents with dementia. The aides yell, pull, or leave the residents to fend for themselves instead of knowing how to re-direct or engage them. This facility is quick to add drugs to 'calm' their residents when in fact they are doing it so the residents cannot function-makes less work for the aides. These are a few minor problems with the facility - they don't have enough silverware for the meals; no snacks or additional liquid is offered during meals or during the day/evening; many of the chairs in the 'main areas' have urine or stool stains on them; carpets in rooms are not vacuumed as promised; bathrooms aren't thoroughly cleaned. I would not recommend this specific facility to anyone.

We brought my father here to stay, it is a great place for him and him and I like most of the people here except for the management. The management here is awful, they seem like they have no clue what they are doing and they don't do anything to help our parents. If this place got new management i'd feel a lot better about my father being here

A/C doesn't work. Thermostat says change batteries. I do it myself. Still no go. Tell the guy sitting playing catch with his ball(s) in the office. He tells me to track down the maintenance guy (who is gone for the day. I can barely walk but he's too busy to do it.

Horrible horrible horrible facility. Staff leaves residents that need care for hours. Do not respond to call lights. Do not follow care plans. I suggest if you have to put your love ones here you put a camera in their room. Management is worse very rude and uncaring.

This community had a whole different approach on how they dealt with my family in regards to finding a place for my sister. When we visited, they told us about what they offered and told us how much it cost but never asked what the needs of my sister were. They had a handout filled with the activities they’d be able to provide, but the overall feeling while we were there was very cold and not at all inviting. The person that we met with never even showed us the rooms. We left there thinking they were more interested in the money than in my sister so we went with a different community.
