Claiborne Senior Living

The only real concern that I would have is the lack of communication with the family. My mother has dementia and her memory is not good. I have asked for updates on how she is doing from their point of view and cannot get anyone to call me back. I live close by, so I go over there often to see what's going on. But having a way to get regular updates on my mother would be beneficial. The facility seems to be clean, but in some of the common areas the carpet is stained. I'm not sure if shampooing them would improve the look or if it's just time for the carpet to be replaced.

Only issue that I think every place has is short staffing. My dad was only there 2 weeks so hard to really know how things would have turned out. It was close to his home and friends. Also [name removed]who does all incoming applications is a wonderful person. Goes out of her way to meet your needs.

It's beautiful but the care is lacking. We picked this community for our loved one, because of your recommendation.

I'm happy to get on a call with more detail as needed. They lost their activity director and that has disappointingly left very little for the residents to do. I would say they could pick up the level of care as well. Most everyone there is very nice and it being a newer facility, is in great condition.

Overall the Exec Director is zero help with anything. They really just don't care, and they offered promises of services that have not been provided.I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody, but it is clean. The food is not awesome, and, like I mentioned executive, Director is worthless. The head nurse is amazing, as well as the activities. Director is the best. The eggs or powdered, my loved one says the food is not great. The people at the front desk are very friendly. Their billing is really not awesome.

We picked this community, because they allowed pets. I would not recommend to other families. They don't communicate well, and we still have some unresolved issues.

My mother has lived at Brickmont JC for two years. As in any place, there are great caregivers and some not-so-great. But never any caregiver who was horrible. There's a big turnover but my mother absolutely loves some of the caregivers. She complains mostly about the food and the speed of getting the food once they get to the dining room.

I probably would not recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The community is short staffed. The care for the residents isn't up to the expectations of what the family was hoping for. There is a lot of turnover of staff and it is hard to get to know the caregivers. My loved one doesn't care for the food due to the taste. There are choices for meals such as fish or casserole but the meals are served in Styrofoam and the food is placed under a warmer and then sometimes the food has cooled off prior to the residents receiving the meals.

There were 28 residents in the memory care unity with 3 caregivers. Our experience with the community overall was not the right fit for my loved one. It would have been nice to see more staff to care for the residents. Overall I feel my loved one didn't receive the care I feel that they deserved. The meals were pretty good. There were three meals a day served to the residents, as well.

The community is beautiful. The staff is super friendly. It is a newer facility that is all updated. The staff is still learning but the value is great.

Our family was set up for an in person tour and we only walked through the front door and immediately our loved one felt like they were walking in to a nursing home. We did peek at an apartment and not impressed at all.

The Claiborne is a very clean community, and even though we did not have first hand experience with the meals the menu always looked good. However our loved one was never really included or encouraged to participate in the activities. The community was not the cheapest in the area but also not the most expensive. We had such a good positive vibe from the tour - we felt this was the place for our loved one, but from our loved ones first day to their last we had reoccurring problem. We felt the level of care they received was not adequate and not worth the amount of money we paid. Our loved one was not welcomed on move in day, we were not given any information on what to expect and we just felt sad and disappointed.

Brickmont Roswell is a beautiful community and the staff are very very friendly and kind. However we do understand they are understaffed but with the staffing shortages there needs to be solutions and it seems like they don't really have systems in place. They say they have a ton of different activities but nothing really happens. There is supposed to be transportation on Tuesday's to take the residents to doctors appointments but there has been issues with that. We had such high expectation's and we knew there would be bumps in the road but sometimes it just seems like its one thing after another.

This facility is clean and it's safe, but they advertised so many activities that they don't actually have. Mom was not able to be active here. She just sat in her wheelchair most of the day. We would go to visit at 2pm and she would still be in her pajamas. In terms of helping her progress and be active, there was just no activity. The rooms are nice and very spacious. Communication with the family was ok, but we had to take the initiative and call. Getting her meds lined out was a process. We paid for a premium TV package, but hers was broken and she only had 4 channels. They never fixed it. I wouldn't recommend the memory care unit. I do have friends with loved one's on the Assisted Living side and they all have great things to say about it. I would recommend checking that out and we may also do the same in the future. But the memory care just isn't what is advertised.

The facility was clean. Our orientation leader was very nice. Some of the staff were great and some not so much. Some really went out of their way, but some didn't even seem to do the basics. Overall, I wasn't very happy with her care here and wish they would have been more attentive. Maybe it was an issue with being short staffed, I'm not sure. After mom passed, they did assure us that they would pro rate her monthly rent. It's been 2 months and we're still waiting on the refund and no one is returning my calls about it. I probably wouldn't recommend them to others, I would encourage them to look around.

My loved one was all set up and was going to move in here, but he changed his mind. They are still billing us for a lot of things even though he never moved in. I am not financially responsible for my loved one and yet I am the one getting all of these bills so that has been very frustrating. Otherwise it had looked like a great facility and we liked what we saw.

The person conducting the tour did a very nice job. But we weren’t impressed with the facility - we smelled an odor. It was further away from our family as well, and just not a good fit for our loved one. I found nothing wrong with the people there though. They were very nice.

We did not have the best experience with Brickmont of John's Creek. It was a very large facility and the layout was difficult to navigate because of the size. For example walking from the room from the cafeteria was difficult. It felt very cold environment and not friendly or warm and that is why he did not stay here. I felt the staff could have facilitated the transition better for me and for him, that lack of warmth made it very difficult for him to feel at home. The lady who helped us move in was wonderful in the beginning, but once we moved in she almost seemed annoyed when I had any questions or concerns. It is a clean and beautiful facility and the other residents were friendly, but there was just something missing. Overall we were disappointed with the whole experience here.

They are very short staffed and there is a lot of turnover and that is affecting other areas of the facility. There was a disconnect between the sales pitch and what we are actually getting. They could use many improvements.

The Claiborne is a beautiful facility, our loved one gets three meals a day and for the most part we really do like the community. However they are not always consistent and they tend to make changes without speaking with the families. Sometimes the information comes from the aids and not from the top.
