Not recommended

I do not feel that they were engaging with my father at Harmony Village. If he was sitting there in a wheelchair, they would leave him there and he wouldn't get to participate in any of the activities. There are levels of dementia care, and each floor is locked. There was not enough staff to monitor the residents. They were also expensive for what you got. I removed my father from this facility. I would not recommend Harmony Village.

We called ahead to let [name removed] know we were running late and she was very gracious. She greeted us with fruit and cookies when we arrived. It was hard for my sister to conceptualize the facility since we only had room layouts and photos. My nephew and I were a little disappointed that all levels of dementia would be together I know that many families are reluctant to place someone earlier in their dementia and I think this could make the transition more difficult for my sister. We also felt that although this will be an beautiful and well planned community, it may be more than what.my sister is looking for and the fees would limit how long she could afford to stay there.

Callous Business Practice

Pay attention to the fine print in the contract. When you are in a bind and need to find immediate care for a loved one you tend to gloss over the fine print. My mom went out to the hospital for 4 days in early October and then on to sub-acute care for the next 13 days before passing. When I received the final accounting I found out to my displeasure that CareOne continues to bill for general care medical supervision at 100 % for 3 days and at 50 % for another week despite being in a hospital and then in sub-acute care. They continued to bill for room and board for the first 5 days of November, despite her death on October 23. I was told that this was in the contract, but I guess I should have raised a stink back in 2015. But we were moving her from MA to NJ and needed a place that could handle her needs. We DO appreciate the care she got from wonderful nurses and aides. This is not a complaint about her care, simply the callous business practices of this corporation.

Not the best place..

I am not crazy about the place. The people who dispense the medications are not always on time. My loved one is not happy with the food as well. If it was not for the $4000 start up fee that we already paid, we would be moving.

I thought this place could use some improvements that I noticed during my tour. There was an odd smell throughout the entire place that just did not sit right with me as well as much needed updates in the property. The patients also did not look very lively, they all seemed very lethargic and depressed. It was just not the right place for my mother.

The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.

My loved one did a short respite stay at this community. The individual staff members he worked with were nice and good at their job. It did seem like there was not a lot of coordination between the staff. They knew he was coming and they did not have a room for him in the assisted living section so he had to stay in the memory care unit. He was ok with the food. The community is clean and well maintained. This community had an institutional feel to it.

Average care provided!!

This community has given me mixed emotions about the care they have provided my loved one. I am very concerned with the night shift and how long it takes the aids to get to my wife after she rings her light for assistance. She can not get up or down by her self so when she has to go to the restroom or has an emergency they can not be taking up to an hour to get to her bedside. The food also needs a lot of work, the vegetables are always over cooked and they do not offer many choices for diabetic residents. The administration just really needs to get everyone on the same page and take into consideration our complaints. The one thing I am very pleased with is the rehab therapy my wife receives.

Mixed experience

Our experience with CareOne at Hamilton has been somewhat mixed. I think it is a nice enough place, in terms of the facility itself and the friendliness of the staff. Everyone I've met, from the aides to the chef, has been friendly and kind! However, I don't think the level of care they provide is sufficient for those on the higher end of the care scale. They evaluated our loved one as being fine for assisted living, but they just didn't provide the level of care she needed. There were a few different instances of her using the call button and nobody ever showing up. I think it might be a very nice place for someone with fewer needs, but make sure your loved one is a good fit.

I walked in and out and with mom and no one even knew

At CareOne at Morris AL a lot of the staff just ignored you. The nurses wouldn't even make eye contact with you. Some of the staff were really great though. Mom was in her room a lot. My father was in the next unit over and they were going to get together some. But there were 4 days out of the week that they didn't see each other. All they needed was someone to walk them over and that didn't happen. The staff were very nice in respite where my father was. With dads dementia I do wish the staff would have pushed him a little more to participate in activities. One big thing that concerned me was the security. You are supposed to sign the patient in and out when taking them out of the facility for any amount of time. I was waiting at the front desk for mom and the staff member was on her cell phone completely ignoring me. I was actually taking my mother out of the facility and she never acknowledged me. I walked in and out and with mom and no one even knew. That was very concerning to me and when I told the staff they didn't really seem to care. It was very disappointing.

Be careful where you place your loved one

I would not use CareOne again if I had another choice. We had tremendous difficulties with their pharmaceutical department and billing. They repeatedly billed me through their pharmacy even though we never used them. I reached out to the director multiple times, and they said they would take care of it, but they never would. My husband was not able to take care of himself at the time and they were not providing adequate attention to him. The staff is very nice until they get you in. The nursing staff was very lacking. They didn't have enough qualified care giving staff. To give some credit to the aids, they did have to use a lift with my husband and I do appreciate the fact that this was a difficult thing for them. They also did not notify me in a timely manor that they should have called in hospice. The food was good, we had no problem with that. It was very expensive here. The grounds were not very well kept either.

Think before you sign on the dotted line.

First may I say, the name should be CareNone. My brother was swayed to put our father into Harmony Village as the rep explained that our father would get better care. If waiting more than 30 minutes to get to the bathroom is efficient, no wonder we needed to supply him with more depends. The food looked and tasted awful. Their family nights were a good idea in theory but horrible. Their physical therapists would walk into the residents room for a session. If the patient would say 'no' the PT would walk out of the room and bill medicare for a session. The speech therapist was impossible to deal with. She believes that she is better than the speech therapists from Morristown Medical Center. The director does not appreciate the family visiting all the time and noticing things that needed improvement. The workers did not have my father ready when he was to be picked up for some occasions. The director told me he was short on staff, but it was all right to charge more than $9000 monthly. My brother and I took my father out about 2 months of living at CareNone. We were forced to give a 30 day notice. My father was much happier at the next facility. He was not in a dementia unit and ate delicious chopped food that he loved.
