What they say you're going to get at the beginning is totally different than what you do get once you move in. My loved one is not mobile, and they were supposed to put her into bed every night. One night they left her up all night, and she then ended up going to the ER because her blood pressure dropped so much, and she became unconscious. The phone is usually right by her, so she called me three times to tell me that they still hadn't put her to bed. So I called and I called and I called, and kept going to voicemail. Finally someone answered and said she would put her to bed right now. Instead of transferring my loved one to the bed, she left her in her wheelchair and laid a pillow on the bed for her to lay her head on, and she moved the phone so my loved one couldn't call me. The paramedics came and got her, took her to the hospital, and they found open skin, like a diaper rash. So Azpira Place was not changing her on the routine they said they were and that they were supposed to be. From the hospital, she went to a rehab center, and now she's home with me with home health care. Because of our experience at Azpira Place, I'm having a hard time trusting putting her anywhere else. Their lack of concern from the director and VP was disappointing. They promised they would call me and they still never have. My initial impression of the facility was that it looked fine. I could smell urine when I would come in sometimes, but things looked clean enough. Certain staff were awesome and would call me on a regular basis. But when the incident happened, it all shifted. And now no one will speak to me, and nobody has called me back.

I lived at Heather Hills for 1 year. The residents were wonderful! Most of the staff was very kind and excellent with all of the residents. However, there were several that were evil, mean and cruel> It was in every area. They were in the office staff, servers ,health care and even administration. These people would often lie to the residents. They would document that they gave a medication, took a temperature, record that a resident refused a shower. One night when I first got there the toilet in my room was not working. I was told I would have to walk downstairs to use a restroom or wear an adult diaper. They did not have a plunger. I was recovering from a stroke. I was humiliated. I was new and scared. Another time I was told they did a temperature check. They did not. I was told that I must have forgot. It is scary what they do and get away with. Many residents are not able to speak for themselves, Their families and caregivers do not see the true picture. It is a SHAME!!!

The staff members were friendly, it was a good value but you were not getting anything for it. We feel that our loved one did not receive the care and attention that she needed. We understand covid had an impact but it was not living up to our expectations that they had offered.

I no longer live in this community. I was supposed to get certain cleanings of my space. I didn't see my cleaner more than twice in the time I was there. I believe I was one of the younger residents. Some of the staff were short, snippy, and unkind. When I moved in, it was supposed to be independent living. I would get yelled at by the staff when I would stick my head out of my room. There was no communication to us about the pandemic, and if anyone was sick in the community. I believe everyone was declining in health since we couldn't be out of our rooms. The community didn't hold their side of the contract. The food wasn't good, menu wasn't good, and it wasn't cooked well either. I wouldn't recommend this community to anyone.

I loved this place so much. The nursing staff took such good care of my dad. I’m so glad to say my dad is in great hands but I feel like it’s very overpriced for what we get and management is ruining it. Management has been working the staff short recently and on top of that I was passing by after visiting my dad and overheard someone in management ask a staff if all they did was stand around. things have seemed to go down hill there very fast. Used to be an immaculate facility I hope one day it gets better.

No staff. Resident are always soiled. Lack of training. The Alzheimer's part only has one RA to take care of 20 plus residents. The administration is always changing. They are forcing their religion on residents and staff. I wouldn't put my love ones there. The rooms have bugs in them. No activities that are continuous. The Supervisors are rude and don't know the residents. Resident stay with UTIs and falls.

My first impression of this place was amazing. Gorgeous and amazing staff. Only to find out everything was only fueled by drama and money. It’s so upsetting to see my dad be treated like this by management and not to mention he got sick from the Norovirus twice within one year. Save money and do not put your parents in here.

If we would do it over we would never would have my mother in law in this place. We visit many times and not once did I have any of the staff acknowledge me. It makes me feel anyone can just walk in off the street. There are residents you hear yelling for help, and no one around. I track down a nurse and told her about this person. And i was told that she always does that she is fine. I was shocked...just tonight. I was told. The nurses dont make sure you in bed anymore. Your on your own. We pay over $5.000 a month for a skeleton crew that these residents barley see....just not right. Where is the staff that has a heart....not at this place...

We went to take a tour of this community and before I could even get to the door I knew that this was not the place for my loved one. The place was dark and depressing. The feeling was not right. Also they only have rooms and not apartments. It just wasn't right for us.

I could write a book about this place and would never leave a loved one here. They are under staffed make all kinds of excuses for errors. Medicine is never given on time or at all! Workers are in break room on cell phones or no where to be found. When you walk in at times all you smell is urine and the poor residents are soiled in it. Some of the workers are very rude and treat residents like they are a burden. Please don't put your loved ones here they deserve better!

Very nice place and employees. A lot of them come and go or fired for dumb reason and they were the best employee. The new DON is really werid and call herself helpimg out but making herself look dumb. Keep family away from here, the only ones that really care about your family members are the employee that work there the supervisors don't care at all. Missing the old DON......

They pretty much told my loved that he should be able to do things on his own even though we were paying all this money for the extra care. They had a lot of temporary staff that they used and they were extremely short staffed. It is a beautiful facility and I thought it would be an amazing place, but that was not the case. He would call me at night for help because he would press his button and no one would come. He was supposed to get 2 showers a week but they always had an excuse of why they could not do it, so he was lucky if he got one. They were always super late on giving him his medications if he even got them at all. They require you to use their pharmacy, if you did not there was a penalty fee. If you do not need any help it might be a good fit, but if you need any type of care I would steer clear.

Dementia resident left the facility and was gone for hours and no immediate notification was made to the family. Pedicure was neglected for so long that the resident was no longer able to walk - facility's response was to deem the resident "non-ambulatory". Caregiver was diagnosed with Covid and passed it to several residents yet no notification was made to the family. Resident spent several days suffering from a fever, during a pandemic, no Covid test was issued and no notification was made to the family. When the facility was questioned about any of these incidents, their response was to stop returning phone calls to the family. Facility is beautiful and staff present themselves as friendly and caring but the reality is that they are more concerned with hiding their mistakes and irresponsibility than the well-being of the residents.

We toured the facility and chose a room for our mother. We were promised she could come in on the Medicaid waiver. We gave a 30 day notice to the facility she was currently at. Two days before her move in date we were told they were bought out. The terms we were promised are longer valid the new owners will not honor our agreement with The Lodge at the New Dawn. To make matters worse the facility she was at filled her room and they had no other rooms available. My poor mother, so we had to move her in temporarily with a family member that isn’t equipped to take care of her until we can find another place to move her to.

My husband came home from AHW back in March. Next thing we knew we had bed bugs. AH had an infestation in February 2019 and I was never informed about it. We have been fighting these bugs since March, we've had exterminators to our home, but we continue to see bed bugs! It can take a year or so to be rid of them, but we will never know for sure if we're finally rid of them because females can live up to a year without feeding on living flesh. My husband had bed bug bites all over him. This facility had treatment back in February, but it could not have begun to deal with the bed bugs that migrated into his clothing and furniture. So they just let him move home without notifying me of this problem so I could do some kind of preparation for this disaster. I have nothing good to say about this facility.

Very pretty place ran by terrible management. Nobody seems to have any idea what they are doing. Nursing staff seemed nice but not given enough of them. The memory care unit it was dirty and the residents seemed to not have the attention they needed at the time due to short staffing.

Since it’s been sold and they replaced the Executive Director, it’s gone downhill fast. The new management has turned it into a prison. There are no choices or resident rights! The rules are very strict and you can’t go against management!

Some of the staff seemed very nice. The DON however I found to be very rude and unprofessional. She was not only rude to me but to the individual who I visited as well. When she left the room the resident stated to me "she doesn't like me very much". I found the environment to be tense and unwelcoming because of her and would not recommend sending a loved one there for that reason.

The employees [removed] food from the elderly and other possession that do not belong to them. Then when returned they are not in the same condition that they left with. Facility is good but do not leave anything of value in the room that you do not want the nurses to take. When the person you love dies make sure that you have anything out of the room within two weeks of the death.
