my review of orchard park

The community had really good activities for residence. The staff is very good and so is management But when we left some of her items were missing. Rooms sizes were good she was in a double room. The food was good when I had a chance to eat with her. I would recommend this community.

Help needs to understand her sight and hearing limitations and not fail for a long to respond to button calls.

They often were slow at button call help and failed sometimes to understand she is almost blind and can't hear well.

This is a pretty nice community, and my tour of it was okay. There were many factors that played into where to move my mother to for her needs. This was not the one for us, but everyone was kind to my family, and I.

Wish they had more activities!!

My mother has recently made the move into this community and things are going okay for her. I am pleased to see her taking her medicine and eating two to three meals a day. She was not doing that at home on her own so she has made some improvements in that area. I am not very happy that they do not have very many activities going on throughout the day. My mom gets bored during the day and does not have much to keep her busy.

Atria Hillsdale was nice and definitely affordable. It didn't quite capture my Grandmother's interest, but it will be kept in mind when looking to the future.

Atria Hillsdale is a nice place but as far as care I'm not sure they do. There has been several occasions where Mom has alerted someone to assist her to the bathroom and ends up wetting herself for their lack of response. This has been very upsetting to me. I feel that this place is for people that can do for themselves and not for someone in need of assistance.

The community itself, the decor and furniture and set-up, is all very nice. The food was not too great at first, but they did improve. My loved one was in memory care, but their staffing was always way too light and the residents there needed more supervision.

Good Value

The value of this place is pretty good, as far as the memory care goes. As for activities, they could use some improvement. There really aren't that many at all. The food quality could also be improved. It was pretty bad when we first chose them, but it's starting to get better. Not great though. There's really nothing that stood out about them in particular, but they are in a great location, and that was a big selling point for us!

Liked Marketing Director and activities a great deal. Place was clean and residents genuinely liked it - proactively approached me and said it was "the best" place. However, lack of any type of kitchen within room probably does not make this an option.

Disturbed.

I suppose that Orchard Park is rated a 5 star if your parents are able to have assistance. Memory Care side, have all stages of Alzheimer's. My frail parent has had 2 room mates that has abused her. She is not a full blown Alzheimer patient, but has room mates that are. One, use to steal her stuff and the other one has broken my Mom arm and has pitched feces onto my mom's bed. I picked my Mom up at 9:30 a.m. and her room was a mess with feces and clothes all over and the smell was awful - when I returned Mom back at 3:30 p.m. - the room had not been touched, still smelling and a mess. This is not a nursing home, but to get into a Nursing home by Obama Care you have to have a broken hip or back that way Medicare doesn't have to pay for it long. So with a broken arm you have to learn yourself to eat with your left hand or go hungry. Even paying out lots of money - still have to be there to feed and dress her. I would take her home with me but I don't have Power of Attorney - just doing the best I can. Don't know what Captcha means. Not in my dictionary.

Hoped it would be wonderful.

Staff were helpful when questioned. Care appeared appropriate. Staff needed to be more helpful on encouraging residents to participate in activities. I rarely saw my mother participating. The food was less appealing in the memory care side than what was served in the main dining room. The facility appeared clean routinely. The room is a decent size but we are not fond of jack n Jill bathroom. Unfortunately my mother is no longer at Saddle Ridge effective [Date Removed]. She sustained a fall in the evening around 6:30 during med distribution. Was returned to her room. Was found on the floor in the morning in agony. They called me and I told them to call an ambulance. She sustained a broken hip. Was left all night on the floor by her bed in pain. Surgery was performed the next day. They filled out a report totally different from what I was told. Unfortunately they could not provide me with answers so I hired an attorney. I would not go back to this place.

Disappointed overall

Some standout caregivers prevent the score from being a 1 but bad facility, low quality food, poor management of residents, lack of activities, not enough staff Would not recommend VT to anyone

Inadequate care. Understaffed.

My loved one passed away last month, and her ring which was an heirloom went missing from her finger. Her teeth were never brushed, and I was sad to see her when the care was mediocre at best. The staff seamed to be on their phones a lot and not paying much attention.

My loved one ended up not moving in. When I went to speak to the administration about my loved one not moving in. The community promised to refund me a portion of my money, since my loved one never moved in. They were supposed to pay 80% of the first month's fee, and the community fee. I am still missing money from the community, as they still owe me and my family from this fee was $5,000 for the community fee that was already paid to them.
