Better than average.

All the people there at Orchard Park are super wonderful. Dad is very happy there. The one and only complaint that I have is in regards to the maintenance. For just one example, dad had an issue with his toilet and it took a solid two weeks or so for the issue to be resolved. Other than that everything is great. The people there are all really wonderful, very caring, and very helpful.

We just took our mom for her second respite stay. The first stay was so positive we were glad we could bring her back when we took our second trip. Our mom has dementia and was a little apprehensive when we first got there. Then the staff started coming up to her and calling her by her name and saying how happy they were to see her again. They immediately integrated her with the group. She perked up and started smiling and was ok with us leaving her. If a time comes in the future when we can no longer care for her at home we would definitely want her to be at Pacifica, Union City.

My sister and I toured 4 senior communities in Bakersfield looking for a suitable residence for our mom who could no longer live alone, didn't want to live with either of her daughters and was resistant to moving. We immediately liked Pacifica Senior Living. The first thing we noticed was the brightness of the facility. We also noticed the residents sitting in common areas visiting with each other. The Community Director, Ailey, was very friendly and reassuring about the move. The Activity Director, Carol, was energetic and obviously enjoyed her job. The rooms were sized about the same as the other communities, but seemed to be brighter. The layout of the facility made it easy to navigate and less confusing. We also liked that they didn't immediately assume that Mom needed memory care if though we informed Ailey that Mom had diagnosed age-related dementia. She told us they rarely moved someone directly to memory care. They prefer to assess a person over time to see how they can best take care of them. This was a contrast to the other communities. Moving day was stressful, but Ailey and the staff were, beyond expectation, reassuring and helpful. Mom really liked it there which was a huge relief to my sister and me. The only negative comment she ever made was about the food. She thought it too bland, but she wasn't losing weight so we knew she was eating healthy. We were very happy with the attention and care she received and would recommend Pacifica Senior Living Bakersfield for assisted living.

Looked at 5 places and I'm pleased that the right place was Pacifica for my mom. No regrets

We liked Pacifica best out of all in that area. It was really nice, recently remodeled and seemed really nice. The grounds were very nice, it was a small area since it's more or less in the city. If we would have moved Mom to Bakersfield this is where we would have gone.

My mother's been there for about three months and the place is lovely and the people are lovely, unfortunately she doesn't' feel well so she participates zero. The food is very iffy. She's used to a diet full of fresh vegetables, whole grains, and it's just really not happening there. That's difficult for her but as far as attentiveness and them being there in case of an emergency and helpful and their responsiveness, they're great. The place is clean and the people are very kind and cheerful. Everyday in the elevator I see the list of activities. There's bingo, yoga, music, bridge, movies, etc. They have a lovely patio. The facility is beautiful and you have all sorts of people there. You don't get a feeling of an "old folks home." It's more like a 4 star or 5 star hotel. Her room has nice, high ceilings - it didn't feel small. As soon as I saw that room I knew that was it for her.

I don't have any experience with other places but I think it's a really good value. The care has been good. I think that there were some hiccoughs, understandably. When my mom first got there, there was some confusion but that all taken care of quickly. There's lots of activities and they are just right for my mom. I am very pleased with their level of activities and just with how my mom has really done well there so I would recommended that place to anyone. When I got a tour of their memory care unit I thought it was very beautiful. I knew that eventually she would need to go into memory care so that was a big factor in my decision.

Director [name removed] never returned my phone calls. My mom LOVES the chef and food. Staff sometimes enter her room unannounced, she really dislikes this.

My husband seems really happy there! The dining experience is great-restaurant quality- even with tablecloths and flowers! The food is very good with much variety and well cooked. Overall, care staff are responsive and caring. Rooms are kept very clean, with beds made everyday. Good choice of activities, including many card games. The common areas are beautiful and comfortable, feeling like homes! The only reason I took off one star is that the laundry must be a little under-staffed, as personal laundry isn't picked up often enough. BTW, there is no extra charge for personal laundry or for Spectrum tv and wi-fi. Traffic in the area can be tough especially in the late afternoon!

My mom is settling in but it has been difficult. Making the transition from Truwood to Saddle Ridge has obviously been difficult for all involved. I think the number one problem is being understaffed in all areas. I would definitely have looked at other places because my Mom is wheelchair bound. We had already started the process to move when the company changed and we were hopeful it would stay the same, but it didn't. We have definitely heard more complaints than support from the residents. I do think the administration is becoming more focused on the residents needs.

A little shaky on the communicating now that he's there. The sales team didn't skip a beat. [name removed] and [name removed] have been top tier. The nurses are superb in the memory care and the receptionists [name removed] and the super helpful weekend young lady(name starts with a [name removed]).

what we like the most about the community is that they truly cared about residents and ensuring they are safe. Once new management took over you could see improvements immediately

Rating is different depending on department, food 3, so processed and frozen, probably happens at all facilities , staff in dining is a 4,activities 4, they definitely need more physical activity especially In Memory care even if it's taking them out for a walk in small groups. Rooms 5 newer facility nicer rooms. All said they treat my mother excellent so far. I think there is a need to meet with family members after they have made a decision to place a family member in a facility on what to expect, not only for the family member but for the family too, especially in memory care. I have thought about starting something like this , it needs to be done!

Pros: Staff is very friendly. Room size has enough space. Food is very good. They have group movies and exercise which is nice. They were vigilant in keeping an eye on his blood pressure when he had his pacemaker implanted Con's: They could sweep the room more often. At night they are a little slower coming to aid my dad when he needs something but understandable since there are not as many of them at night.

The facility is in near downtown Oakland near Lake Merritt. It has very nice views of the lake and Berkeley/Oakland hills. The place has a lot of nice amenities and provides 3 meals a day. Overall, I would consider this a place to live.
