A smaller intimate place with compassionate care at a lower cost

I've had a few complaints in the beginning, but I also understand transitioning to a better experience. I have witnessed these improvements such as dinnerware instead of Styrofoam boxes for those that eat in their rooms. The facility is cleaner. Personal living area is cleaner. Staff is very friendly. Food looks a lot better. I actually tasted a few and reminds me more of home cooked than frozen or canned. My mom likes bread with her meal such as rolls biscuits or cornbread rather than a slice of loaf bread that she has to request because the meals don't include bread. My mom likes more southern fare such as meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese (without ham). But I think the food is good. And secondly, they really need more staff. My mom needed to go to the bathroom one evening, but all the staff was serving dinner and no one answered the call. For the money, I think we made a good choice. I've seen big changes, but the biggest issue is mom still thinks she is supposed to be getting the level of care as a nursing home, but that's just not happening. They do need more staff, though. Keep improving and I would certainly recommend to others.

My family and loved one are happy with our experience with Brookstone Terrace. My loved one is very self reliant, and the staff are happy to assist when needed. The community is clean and I appreciate this very much. There are three meals a day for the residents.

Our families experience

My mother in law said some of the meals were great and some of the other meals were terrible. However I did not get a chance to eat there so I am not too sure. With the activities I do wish they had transportation to take the residents to outside events. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend the Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville community to other families.

Love this place!

Just like many other places at the moment they are experiencing some staffing issues so the care can be a little spotty but overall the care has been great. The staff members and their friendliness gets 10 stars, they are super fantastic to work with. From what we have seen the meals are good. When it comes to the activities they have at least 3-4 activities going on all day long throughout the week. We would love to be paying less but in comparison to other communities we checked out, the value is good. The first thing that struck us the most is that a lot of communities may have just one big dining hall for all the residents, but here each floor and each wing has their own little dining hall. So it's like you have your own little community with immediate neighbors. The room we got for our loved one is close by the dining room which is nice. Our loved one has told us that she like's it here, and physical therapy has really be working hard with our loved one. Based on our experience so far with Carriage House, we would absolutely recommend them to other families.

We didn't like that the patients could wonder in and out of each other's rooms there. We did like that they had a much bigger court yard for the residents to enjoy.

I Like It Enough, I Trust The Staff With My Loved One

My loved one is here and is happy. The staff are good at sending photos of my loved one smiling and this is a treasure for me. The staff communication with the family is good. They have made sure that the family has direct phone numbers to reach out to when we have questions. The food is good, since my loved one hasn't complained. There are three meals a day served to the residents. The chef is willing to accommodate resident's requests. It would be nice to have more activities for the residents to participate in and outside of the community.

Our Experience at Oaks at Chanticleer

It seems like a nice facility, and my loved one is doing well there. However, sometimes it's difficult to get the front desk to answer the phone, and when I leave messages for specific people, I've never received a call back.

Great, but areas for improvement too.

Keep in mind that they are having the same struggles everyone else is with finding help. So they are stretched pretty thin as far staff goes. The staff they do have are extremely friendly and capable. But if your family member has dietary needs, this is not the place to be. They do not honor dietary restrictions - they just feed the residents what they feed them.

our families experience

We really like the layout of the community itself, there are a lot of bright colors and nice decorations to look out. The different apartments are laid out in a centralized area which we do like. The reason the activities and care services get a 3 star and below is just the struggling with staffing - at times there is no one available which causes some concern if a residents were to need something.

Sufficient facility

Overall I think they were good to work with. The one negative I might add is that my loved one needed access to the courtyard more often and that was kind of part of the deal we made with them. But I do understand that they cannot just leave the doors open because of other residents who lived there.

A safe place for your loved one.

I would recommend this community for you or your loved one. the staff their do their best with any problems no matter what they may be. My loved one is not the easiest to work with and they do their best to do whatever is possible. I would recommend this community. They have activities like walks, church services every other Sunday and more for the residents to do to stay busy in the community. They don't let the holidays go by without celebrating. The CEO is very good with families and patients and seems to be able to tell you all you need and works with us well. She explains things well and lets us know whats to come and more.

Our tour at Carriage House went very well. The lady that met with us was very helpful. The facility was nice. It was a bigger facility though, and not memory care-specific. And the residents in their memory care unit just didn't look engaged like they did at other places we visited.

I would recommend

When I came to tour, I really liked the location of the facility and felt it was a safe environment. It seems like they always have something going on, they have a calendar with all of the activities provided. Whenever I have questions or concerns the administrative staff are always very easy to reach. They are proactive with covid protocols and they are keeping the residents safe. I would recommend to others looking.

Memory Care - Greenville Unit

Spouse is client and has parkinson with dementia and the CNA's and med-techs on his area are very caring and treat him with respect (as if it were their own Dad) and they redirect as needed. The facility is changing management and we now have a new Exec. Director and are wanting more hands on deck. They have reached out presently. Facility is always clean, and clients also. *A Place for Mom - phone personnel were helpful.
