A Place for Mom has scored Brookstone Terrace with 9.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 144 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Brookstone Terrace has 360 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.2 out of 5.
I'm very concerned about ongoing staff turnover and staff training to provide the best possible care for residents. The generous rating reflects the effort of the facility to deal with industry-wide problems. I wonder if this facility and industry should increase compensation and if that would lead to more stability in staffing and better resident care. Should government step so families wouldn't have to deal with the increasing cost?

The facility is a great place for someone that is looking for earlier care in Alzheimers and Dementia patients. The staff is friendly and always willing to help when possible. They were there at a time we needed them. And the only ones that would take her. I do recommend the place. But no where is perfect.

I studied and toured local facilities and this one stood out. The cheerful decor was unusual compared to other places. The staff are friendly and caring. The Director took us personally on the tour. My mother can be difficult to please but she likes everything including the food. Daily activities and periodic outings are engaging for the residents.

The workers are very kind and caring. But because so many of these residents have dementia keeping up with their personal items like razors and shavers and stuff is difficult. They constantly have something going on for the residence every week. It’s a good fit for our father.

My mother is in Memory Care. Has a feeling of home. Staff feels like family. She has been there a year. She has a roommate. Their room has a nice sunroom also. They have a nice large bathroom with a handicap shower. Eventus Health handles her care. They come weekly. I do wish that they had more crafts for the memory care side. Special snacks etc.

Mom passed very quickly due to Alzheimer's (date removed). She was only at Brookstone for 10 days. They were great to deal with and great with mom as difficult as she had become. Everyone was so nice to all of us. It was small, too. Which we preferred. Finally it was not in the city. A plus for us. They really worked hard to accommodate my mom as well.

When it comes to the cleanliness of the community the common areas get a 4 but the individual rooms get a 2. Overall the Oaks was an okay experience. The limited staff that was there did their best, but they were extremely overwhelmed. There were 3 wings with about 60 residents each and often, especially during the evenings, there was no staff at all in one of the wings.

I would recommend the facility. Like any facility, a family MUST be involved at least weekly. You must Determine expectations as part of your process to pick a facility. I found the staff and administrators to be helpful and will communicate as much as the family is involved. I'm extremely grateful that I had a team of family & friends that also visited weekly and checked quality of care when visiting. I made sure to be intentional with my requests to my visiting team. I have few regrets concerning our mom & aunt's time there. The pharmacy requirements I didn't like, that was my most stressful interaction. The particular staff on their wing was sweet, caring and did their best to keep me informed. My mom & aunt said they were not mistreated and everyone was nice to them. Their stay at the Oaks was mentally & emotionally challenging for me. I was there visiting weekly and so was our visiting team. I had confidence in the care & concern that was a part of the atmosphere of their wing. I'm still praising GOD for directing me to visit the Oaks during my facility search for care months before it became necessary to pick a facility for them. I feel prayer, Love & our desire for them to be safe & happy has granted me, my brothers, family & friends peace about their final weeks on earth. Plus we know without a doubt both of them are in Heaven praise God along with our other loved ones

I still feel like I am learning this new lifestyle for my mother. My mother is in Memory Care at Brookstone of Clemmons. This facility does have a feeling of home. The food is good. My mother looks forward to her meals. She shares a room and the room is large and has an additional sitting room, which is a big plus. My mother seems happy, well groomed, and her room is very neat and clean.

They always had activities planned for them to do. They could improve on communication and staffing. It was hard to find staff at times when you had a concern. There's been times where there wasn't any staff present on the pods which raised safety concerns. They need to do better keeping up with the residents belongings. Things were always missing even she talks to with staff. They didn't do a good job quarantining when there was a Covid outbreak and only took extra measures once a mass of residents caught COVID. Family was notified AFTER Covid was present for several days.

My personal interaction with the staff has been good, they keep us Informed and make the changes we request, as needed. There is- as with most places- still staff turnover, so sometimes that can be frustrating having to re-explain something. I've never had the food, but my dad likes it. The common areas of the facility are kept quite nice. I especially LOVE ALL of the activity choices- my dad is very social and loves outings, game nights, movie nights, bingo, cooking class/ Demonstrations, and crafts. I would recommend this facility to family and friends!

I would say my loved one( who is in memory care) is pleased. He often comments what a nice place he is in. He thinks the food is good. He has a nice room which is kept clean. His laundry lady is great. The staff does not leave him in his room all day. There are lots of activities. I have found the staff and management to be caring & professional. It is much better for him than the last place.

I've had a few complaints in the beginning, but I also understand transitioning to a better experience. I have witnessed these improvements such as dinnerware instead of Styrofoam boxes for those that eat in their rooms. The facility is cleaner. Personal living area is cleaner. Staff is very friendly. Food looks a lot better. I actually tasted a few and reminds me more of home cooked than frozen or canned. My mom likes bread with her meal such as rolls biscuits or cornbread rather than a slice of loaf bread that she has to request because the meals don't include bread. My mom likes more southern fare such as meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese (without ham). But I think the food is good. And secondly, they really need more staff. My mom needed to go to the bathroom one evening, but all the staff was serving dinner and no one answered the call. For the money, I think we made a good choice. I've seen big changes, but the biggest issue is mom still thinks she is supposed to be getting the level of care as a nursing home, but that's just not happening. They do need more staff, though. Keep improving and I would certainly recommend to others.

My family and loved one are happy with our experience with Brookstone Terrace. My loved one is very self reliant, and the staff are happy to assist when needed. The community is clean and I appreciate this very much. There are three meals a day for the residents.
