Brookdale

While this facility is a bit older than the others we have toured or used in the past, it was still very quaint and convenient considering its location. We felt my mother would get better attention during her declining years in memory care. We did not feel overwhelmed or concerned about her care here. Very happy with the choice we made.

This was better than expectations. The staff is very friendly and happy to help in any way. They really try to engage all the residents in memory care to help them feel happy and safe. The rooms are kept clean and there are many activities that are planned just for them. It does take time to make this kind of decision and time to adjust. It we are very grateful we found Brookdale Colonial Heights. It is an answer to prayer.

The nursing staff seems great. The activities director is now new but the old one was amazing and my mom said the new one seems great as well. The facility is very clean, no "nursing homey smell." When I needed to contact the staff they would return my call in a timely manner. It's pretty small, so you def won't get lost. Security is on point. Everyone I have had contact with has been great

The facility has excellent staff attending the patients, efficient and compassionate. The food is extremely well prepared and the dining room, with fresh flowers on each table is in fact a charming dining room and not an institutional cafeteria. The interior patio is quite beautiful and well attended. But it is important to under stand that one is otherwise essentially renting an empty studio apartment. Beds, chairs, furniture the tenant must provide....though l believe cable TV is provided and basic kitchen appliances. I had issues with some management policies.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Considerate and caring. Apartment sizes and amenities offered are great! The cleanliness though could be better.

What we like the most about Brookdale Champions is how professional and caring the staff are. It also has a family like atmosphere. I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far.

I have lived at Hawthorn Lakes for over 5 months. Everything and everybody have been extremely pleasant, caring, helpful and so much more now. I am very glad I made the move.

It has been an excellent experience moving into Brookdale. Everyone has been friendly.

The facility in Asheboro is older and needs some attention. Ceilings stained, carpet needs replacing, closet doors have broken several times. I asked about the carpet and was told it is not in the budget. The shower room is too small for easy wheelchair access. All in all though, our Dad has done very well at this facility. The staff as a whole are great. They have lost some great people with turnover. We had to start doing Dad's laundry ourselves due to so many lost items. We were reimbursed for lost items. We help feed our Dad to avoid additional cost. The monthly costs are astronomical! We were paying for private care in home, which was just as affordable but difficult to schedule. Something must be done to manage the cost of elder care! Either my sister or I are there about 5-6 hours a day. They are understaffed with residents who wander, are incontinent, in wheelchairs, etc. The size of the facility is perfect for us, not too big. It's in a beautiful setting and has a nice outdoor patio. I only hope we can continue to afford it!

My father falls a lot while using his cane. The staff insists for his safety that he use a walker. He has one but refuses it. I like how they keep me informed of everything about my Dad. Safety, activities, meals, etc. He can be stubborn and kind of mean. Staff is firm but kind. I like that.

The staff is their biggest asset. They are so focused on family and a care uniquely focused on the individual. One improvement would be easier access for visitors.

The community was clean and well-kept, staff were courteous and helpful, and the experience was great! I appreciated the tour and felt confident in the level of care offered. Thanks again for the warm welcome.

I am very pleased with the whole place. They are always there when help is needed. And they always check up on the residents throughout the day. The room sizes and amenities offered in assisted living are fantastic.

They were friendly at every level and the overall experience exceeded expectations and it is a great value for money.

Everyone was welcoming, including the residents. We received a lot of helpful information and the community was not at all what we were expecting going into it. The community is very nice, residents are happy and seem to enjoy their home.

The staff is outstanding, from administration to the aides. They all have amazing patience and caring attitudes. The activities director is a very special person who makes each resident feel cared for. The nursing staff is more than willing to explain and help with any situation. We have had other family members in other homes at different times but this is by far the best we have encountered not only with the facility, but also the most important, the staff

What we like the most about Brookdale Brookfield is the friendly community. Communication from leadership is less than clear at times. Wonderful community. So glad our mom is living and thriving there!

For every other category, I would give a 5. Especially the staff - they were amazing. They were always kind and took the time to get to know my Mom. A few were also very funny and interacted well with the residents. They really went out of their way because they cared.
