Brookdale

My husband and I were going on vacation and needed to find respite care for my mother, who lives with us. Since my mom is relatively mobile, still engages with her peers, and needs to feel comfortable in a clean and safe environment, I needed to find a suitable place to provide that for her. I wanted a place nearby, so I started my research and was directed to Brookdale Union Park in Monroe. After visiting the site, I found that it checked all my boxes, but what about my mother’s? It checked all of hers; it was all that it promised and more. Her room was clean and comfortable with plenty of sunshine, and the staff–from administration to support services–was warm, welcoming, and responsive to her needs. There were plenty of activities and opportunities to engage with her peers, and the meals and snacks (kudos to Argemiro G.) were plentiful and delicious. During her stay, she was treated like a permanent resident and also made some new friends. The cost of the stay was only exceeded by the services/benefits she received while there. Special mention goes to Management team members—Angela B., Tiffany L., Meshell B., and Amethyst G.—for making her stay memorable. When my mother left, the staff made her feel welcome to come back for another future stay. I would not hesitate for a minute to recommend Respite Care at Brookdale Union Park for your loved one.

What we like the most about the community is that everyone is so friendly. Food was pretty good although we only had a couple of lunches. Hasn't even been a week but so far, we are very happy!

5's across the board. Maybe my favorite thing for [name removed] is- we had a nice room big enough for his furniture. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far.

My FIL loved being at Brookdale. He commented all the time about how nice his room was. It was a very nice size. All the furniture is included but we brought our own mattress and his favorite side table to make him more comfortable. The staff were amazing. So friendly, caring and compassionate. We knew he was well cared for. Even when he was being obstinate they worked gently to coax him to take his meds or take a shower. He hated the shower and I agree. It was small and took a very long time to get warm. And really only got to lukewarm. That is an area they need to address. He loved the food. He had an assigned seat and made a few good friends while there. He passed a few weeks ago and it was heartbreaking to see his friends tearing up as we cleaned out his room. all the staff (even the kitchen staff) stopped by to say really nice things about him. He really was loved. I highly recommend Brookdale Niagara (MC) for your loved ones

This is the happiest place of all the facilities that I visited. Love the memory care. Brookdale is a community that is definitely worth a look at.

I started to look for a new home after my husband passed and I gave up driving. I was looking for a place close to stores, restaurants and my church. I checked several places in town and picked the BEST PLACE I checked out. I chose a One Bedroom apartment at Brookdale Brighton. I feel completely at home here and the rent is within my budget. The staff is friendly to everyone and so helpful. The meals are delicious. I could not have picked a better place to move to and have made many recommendations to my friends and other families at church.

My parents recently moved in and they are very happy. The facility is bright and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I didn't realize how worried I have been about them living in their home. I feel much more relaxed, knowing they are safe and comfortable in their new place. I always enjoy visiting!

The staff is nice and caring, the food is decent, they have activities for the residents...I just wish. they could have churches come do church on Sundays for the residents...But facility is clean and memory care is nice as well.

The staff were extremely welcoming. They understand the transition process can be stressful and make every effort to make it easy.

The overall experience has been a 5 hands down. All staff have been helpful and accommodating as well as watchful to his needs for a 93 year old man. The staff communicates frequently with us which has been a blessing. He loves the food and shows up early for every meal. This man has not gone many places in the last twenty years, (since his wife died) but he has been to a couple of outings every week with a bunch of women! They have been to the lakefront, Bailey Homestead Farm, and Michaels! They also had a car show on site that he really enjoyed. Physically, he is greatly benefiting from the walking square in the building. He is working on speed and endurance. He also attends the facility's exercise class. His room is simple but just what he needs to be "on his own". Brookdale has been a perfect fit!

It was great to visit at random times of day and see all of the staff members actively engaging the residents in one way or another. They seem to have a broad range of activities for residents at all cognitive levels. I think I this is key in a memory care setting.

Me experience would be a 5 for each category. My first impression was that this is the place. The staff is so nice and ready to help in any way. More importantly the residents give me the impression they are happy being there. I would recommend anyone that is searching for a loved one.

Brookdale in my opinion is an excellent retirement community. Well situated in the City of Oak Park Illinois you have popular restaurants, Lake movie theater, various commercial shops, and medical offices all within walking distance from Brookdale. The staff at Brookdale is very helpful and sensitive to its residents. Truly Brookdale is an excellent retirement community!

My mom absolutely loves Diablo Lodge! Her own mother lived here back in the 90s, and it’s even better now. The community offers wonderful entertainment, engaging activities, and plenty of games. The apartments are not only beautiful but also safe and welcoming. From the very first tour to the move-in process, the staff made everything so easy—and have continued to be amazing every step of the way. The food is fantastic, with delicious daily specials that my mom looks forward to. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and she truly appreciates each and every one of them. Mom especially enjoys having her own balcony with beautiful views of Mt. Diablo. When she isn’t relaxing outside, she’s busy taking exercise or art classes, gardening, joining movie nights, or playing bingo—she gets to choose from so many great activities. I also love that I can take a trail to her back patio to visit her—it makes the setting even more special. Diablo Lodge is a wonderful home and community.
