We chose MacArthur Hills because I just got a good feeling when I first walked in the door. People were friendly, there were activities going on, and the atmosphere it was bright and cheery. The residents and staff were all out and about and walking around. She really likes the food. They get two choices and then there are certain menu items are available at all times if they do not want those 2 options. They are having some issues with their alert system but they did just transition to a new one so I think that is temporary. Overall we have been pleased with our experience.

Summer Village is a good place for people who need to be there. Housekeeping could improve on their attention to detail and cleaning more thoroughly. One day I dropped something on the floor and when I went to go pick it up, I noticed rolls of dust underneath the bed. Aside from that, the nurses always listen and they are cooperative and helpful to me when needed. I would recommend them to other people.

They bring in live entertainment at least once or twice a week. They take them on little trips and bus tours to sight see the surrounding area. They have smaller in house activities like bingo, board games, and crafts. Sometimes they are a little skimpy on the portion sizes, they are supposed to be working on it but sometimes they are great and others are left to be desired. The meals could be more consistent

I thought they were very nice. And the community was very similar to another The Blake community we toured. The biggest reason we didn't go with either of them was a North Carolina vs. South Carolina issue. South Carolina can’t do a lot of things medically. And I felt as my parents aged and progressed in their illness, we would have ended up back in North Carolina anyway.

Based on our tour, I thought the people were very nice. The community was the right size for our loved one, with maybe 95-100 residents. They were reasonably priced. The only reason we didn't go with them was a North Carolina vs. South Carolina issue. South Carolina can’t do a lot of things medically. And I felt as my parents aged and progressed in their illness, we would end up back in North Carolina anyway.

We had a great tour experience with The Blake at Baxter Village. The facility was beautiful and clean and all the staff really took their time with us. It was just way too big and we knew she would feel overwhelmed.

The Blake at Edgewater is a very nice facility and all of the staff were knowledgeable and really took their time with us, but it was way too big and we thought my loved one would feel overwhelmed.

This community was a little more pricey than what I was looking for. Also my loved ones did not want to drive that far to see my other loved one. This was a very informative and good tour at this community.

This would have been my second choice for a community. It was a little more expensive and this pushed me away from it.

Our family had an in person tour and it was nice but it felt more like a resort. This would be a really good place for families who loved ones are very social and like to be in an active community.

We had a nice tour at The Enclave. I thought they were informative. They just didn't have availability at the time, and they seemed to be having staffing issues (although we found that to be the case at most places).

Our experience at HarborChase has been fine so far, but there has been high turnover of staff. They're having a hard time keeping staff, and I know a lot of it has to do with the pandemic. I've noticed differences in the staff the higher up you get. The day-to-day care staff and their direct manager are very good and very helpful. But once you go higher up, they don’t respond well.

The phone system is not good and I sat with them to discuss some other options to fix the phone systems. I would recommend this community. The food was really good and the staff worked well. They had different activities like entertainment coming in, crossword puzzles and more to keep the residents going.

Our family had an in person tour and the community is nice, it has very nice facilities but given our loved ones state of health we did not want them dealing with elevators, We thought it would be too much for them.

I thought the facility was very nice. It was more modern and upscale. I didn't like that I didn’t see the residents up and about though. That might have been the timing of the tour. Or maybe because the rooms were so nice!

The staff are wonderful and very attentive. The activities are great. They have activities like trivia, exercise, stories and very engaging activities for the residents and family if they are there. They have concerts and mystery outings where they can go on a bus tour. There was an issue with my loved hearing aids and it is being resolved. Te housekeeping is not good on the weekends.

We chose The Blake because it is a new facility that is only 3 years old. It is also very close and convenient to family. We knew someone who was a resident here and we went and visited so we had previous experience to see the care first hand. I do think the administrative staff needs improve on communication to the families. I would recommend to others.

The activities that are higher functioning and more mobile could be better and have more activities for these residents. Due to my loved one not having enough activities we ended up having my loved one home. The medication listings are still on paper and aren't electronic. It would be better and quicker for residents and staff to have this done electronically. The Administration in terms of nursing was slow in returning communication. The rest of the staff was quick to respond to questions or concerns.

My experience has been a positive one and I'm happy with it. They are good at keeping me up-to-date on how my loved one is doing. The community is good at sending a weekly update of activities your loved one has participated in.

It is the best community that you could hope for, for an assisted living. They have done several things such as taking care of the residents, vaccinating the residents, and helpful in keeping the residents comfortable during the pandemic. I've been pleased with everything here. The community is bringing in physical therapy and a room for exercise equipment for the residents.
