It was not a good match

We chose this facility because of the location, the cost, as well as during the tour it seemed nice. He was in a semi room, and they were a good size. The food here was pretty good, he never complained. I would want people to know that they offer a nice area outside for the residents, but they never have the door open as they want someone out there with them to supervise. So the residents rarely get to sit outside unless you have a visitor. My brother was on the younger side, so they did not have a lot of activities for the younger crowd.

Could have been better

My dad wasn’t here for very long but in the short time that he was there, there were a few issues I had run across. The staff always seemed to be short and they never seemed to have enough help. They were able to answer most questions, but if there was anything that I needed done that had to do with a doctor, they would become almost unresponsive. It took me over 2 weeks to get answers that I needed and that only happened AFTER I talked with the executive director. My dad had Alzheimer’s and the food they would feed him felt inappropriate; they would give him things like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and they always told me he would only eat half or a quarter of his meal. But anytime I went, he would eat everything and it felt like that was the only time he’d actually get a meal. The cleanliness of the facility was satisfactory. They have things like bingo, entertainers, and movie nights to keep everyone active and all of the other residents seemed to be pretty friendly. The only reason we wound up choosing Manatawny Manor was because it was within driving distance of my mom. I don’t think this was worth the money that it costs. My dad needed more one on one care and attention and it felt like they weren’t willing to do that. My mom is going to need a home eventually and I won’t be bringing her here.

A nice community

The staff seem nice at this community. My only issue is that dad has not seen the doctor since he moved in. The community is clean and he seems to like the food. The rooms are a good size and nice. I did talk to some of the residents before dad moved in and they said they liked it here.

It Would Be Nice to Get

Overall the general care is okay. Sometimes there are not enough staff to get medication or anything we need. It takes awhile for someone to get to my mom. It would be nice to not wait long. The meals are not gourmet but it is pretty good. It took a while for them to communicate to the staff to have her meals cut up.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. I wasn't a fan of Manatawny Manor. It just felt very clinical, not warm or welcoming. It had the feel of a nursing home rather than an assisted living community. It just wasn't somewhere I thought my loved one would be comfortable living.

Floors were recently redone

Nice enough facility, only saw the first floor but it seems well cared for, floors were recently redone. Lots of activities, nice daily events with transportation available for offsite visits. I had a quick visit and was invited to come back with family member. Seem very accommodating.

Nice place overall, meal service could use work

Springfield Residences is a nice enough place, overall, but I do think there are a few areas they could work on to really improve the experience. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and the staff are friendly. One of my biggest issues is with the meal service. The food is not the best, and they often list things on the menu that are not actually available. The dining staff also seems a bit shorthanded, it can take a long time to be served. They are also a bit slow when it comes to respond to maintenance issues, sometimes you have to stay on top of them to get things fixed.

Needs improvement on food options

Sometimes the staff has attitudes, and does not seem to be compassionate with the residents. They are not helpful with, resolving issues with care concerns. They are not delivering the services, that they promised. They don't seem to check on myloved one as often. It has been a very dissapointing experience. There is not too many options with the food. The food is terrible, always bland, which is simiiar to institutional food. It is canned food, and they don't seem to care about my loved ones food preferences. On a positive note, my loved ones room is clean, and they are always well groomed.

The facility is slightly below acceptable. However, the staff is phenomenal.

Upon entering the facility, [name removed] (my sister and new resident) was put in a unit with no heat. When we visited the unit, there was heat. However, the heat was not working when she moved in. Management knew there was no heat but said nothing. Since then we've experienced no land-line phone in the unit (still no phone). A missing window screen. Most repairs are minor. But these type repairs make a person's residence difficult. It seems Management is trying to upgrade the building, however the, "turn-around-time is too long. No one keeps residents (or their family) up to date on repairs. The staff is extremely helpful. Everyone seems to go out of their way to help residents and their loved-ones. Addressing issues in a faster pace would DEFINITELY satisfy all involved. Obviously repairs will be needed in such a facility. The way it's dealt with will determine how an individual feels about the facility.

Not a good experience

My mom fell several times in the rehab area and once in Impressions head first out of a wheelchair. The wheelchair we purchased is missing. Some of the workers are kind and compassionate but not all! In my opinion, it would be rated as bare minimum The center is owned by a company overseas and they do not treat the workers well, in fact the workers got a decrease in pay.

Third Floor Warning

This review is specific to the third floor. If you are thinking about moving your loved one to the third floor I would suggest you schedule your visit between 4 and 5 and see where the residents are kept - in the hallway, in front of the nurse's station with no engagement at all by the staff. The caregivers on that floor do not care at all. They are rude and rough to the residents and to family members alike. Please ask to see the area to the right of the elevator. That is where your loved one will have daily "activities", eat dinner and live. It will not be on the first floor that you will be shown that presents so well. Communication with the supervisors is frustrating. Texting important matters regarding your loved ones care and medical needs is not professional. If you have private care for your loved one expect that the staff will not treat them with respect or take over when your private caregiver leaves. I was told directly by an aide "I don't know anything about him, he has his own people." It is distressing to leave knowing that they simply do not care and will make sure you know with, quite literally, a wave of a hand in your face,

Follow through....

Springfield misled us. Quoted a price, then changed after first month was paid. Not cleaned properly. Dining room floor was sticky. Never received the alert system. Menu didn't match what was posted. The majority of the workers were very nice. Management was not receptive to issues that needed addressing. Security was not good, people could come and go at all hours. No one at front desk at night.

Our families experience, would not recommend

My mom was very sick upon arrival and got much worse. She ended up leaving in distress because her oxygen level was very low, and she was in a-fib. Holland Village refused to refund the extremely large deposit despite only being there four days. She paid over [fee removed]. I personally believe they misled me right from the beginning on being able to care for my Mom. The only person I commend us the nurse who called the ER.

Terrible place.

My mother was there because her state appointed Power of Attorney placed her there. I did not know how bad it was. My mother does not eat chicken or turkey, never has, and those were the main meals 95% of the time. The housekeeping was barely being done, except for the emptying trash. My mother was incontinent (advanced dementia) and her room continuously smelled like urine...sometimes you could smell it in the hallway to her room. She had an accident (bowel movement) and the stain was there until we moved her out. They were very understaffed and my mother was lucky to have a shower a week. I would not wish MM on an enemy.

Horrible

My father had been in the hospital for the previous nine days and needed some extra care the family thought better given by "professionals." Boy, were we ever wrong! We paid the requisite $2,100 up front and after the first two days it was obvious this wasn't a place that was taking care of anyone. Creekside employs a skeleton staff one RN (daytime only) for 19 patients plus a one or two other aid workers who are each acerbic in their own way and behave largely indifferent to all patients' needs. [name removed], the director, was wonderful at providing promises about how my father would best be served by Creekside's staff and services, but grossly incapable of delivering on any of her promises--he hated it and wanted us to get him out. Ultimately, this place is treats it's residents with an indifference that become quite obvious once you witness your loved one spend a day or two with Creekside's indifferent "care givers" who'd rather be out on the parking lot smoking. Pass!

My mom had to call 9-1-1 for help

I'll keep this review simple, in the middle of the night my mother waited so long for help after ringing the bell for assistance that her ONLY alternative was to dial 9-1-1 from her cell phone. Before doing so, she waited 20-30 minutes while short of breath and only did so as a last resort. An ambulance responded quicker than a nurse did, in the middle of the night. Understaffed is NO EXCUSE. This happened on the morning of [date removed]. Years ago, this place was great. Evidently there are new owners. My grandparents were here so the older reviews are accurate. That's why we tried The Manatawny Manor, it was so great years ago. Wow it went downhill fast.
