Still working on getting through some bumps in the road!!

I was hoping the transition was going to be easier. We have had a few issues with her medication. The staff are willing to listen to you and I love the place. They keep the community clean and it is a lovely place. They do clean her room once a week. I do like the continuing care they offer. The food is awesome and they offer a good variety.

5 stars all the way for River Oaks!!!

The staff at River Oaks are very personable and make us feel like we are at home. The food is excellent and they have a variety to choose from. They have a lot of activities, however my mother in law does not yet participate in any. This is a small community and I would recommend it.

The best thing he ever did for me

When my husband was sick, Sister Mary and Sister Barbara came to visit him. It was a snowy day and we sat and visited. When they got ready to leave, Sister Mary went outside in the snow, lay down in my driveway and made an angel. I took pictures, I still have. I laughed myself silly. Here was sister Mary, the head sister and she's making a snow angel! They are just so fun, they are people, they are happy, they love what they do and they make others feel happy. They were fabulous with me and Ken. I have to give my husband credit, he chose it (VSB) and he wanted me to have this knowing that he wouldn't be here that long. I swear, it's the best thing he ever did for me.

Mom Moved In & Loves It!

Our Mother moved into Cerenity a little over a month ago and loves it! Though we had a few bumps in the road getting our Mother into her new home, we feel that she is in the perfect place now. She loves her apartment and it has just enough space! She is now eating on a regular basis (breakfast & dinner) and can leave her place to run around with her sisters if she wants. We finally feel like we have some relief, we don't worry as much about her safety and well being because she is getting into more of a consistent routine, which should help her overall well being thanks to the Cerenity Staff and services they offer.

Very inviting and felt like home. Very reasonable rates and we liked what is included. Mom is not a big eater, so the 2 meals/day which is included will be perfect for her. Rooms were big, clean & spacious. We are planning to bring Mom to have lunch there tomorrow, so we can see how she feels about it too. We like that Cerenity has just enough care needed for Mom at this time in her life. As her aging progresses she would be able to move to other areas in the facility. Katie Rideout was very thorough, pleasant & helpful. We enjoyed our tour & will be securing the apartment tomorrow.

Wonderful, compassionate staff

I moved my husband here because it was 5 minutes away from out home and he was very comfortable there. Nothing is going to be as good as you think you can do if you had them at home but I knew I couldn't care for him at home. I thought the care at Nazareth was much better than where he was before. They seemed to want to help, it was not something they had to do. They had smiles on their faces, they weren't grumpy and when their shifts were over they would come by and say goodbye to him and were so positive. Almost all of the nurses called him by his first name, they were closer to him that way. I think the people here are probably screened a little bit better or they go through sensitivity training; it was so much more compassionate and I don't have any complaints.

Would highly recommend

We decided on River Oaks because the value for the money was much better than where she was at previously. The locaiton is also very nice and all the staff are super friendly. The staff do seem to really care. They do have a lot of activities offered for the residents although my mom does not always participate. If you get the meals delivered to the rooms it is an extra $5 charge. The facility did just get bought out by another company and they are planning on remodeling in the main lobby area. Overall we are very pleased with the experience and would recommend River Oaks to others looking.

Pretty Good Community

My father is doing pretty well at this community. The community looks great and very clean. The commutation between me and staff could be better. They are trying their best to care for him. He has tried a few new activities, I wish they would take him down for more of the activities. He likes the meals, and the food is good. I would recommend it.

A really fine place for us to live

This is a really fine place for us to live. It's a Catholic-sponsored community that warmly welcomed us Presbyterians. Their core values appealed immediately to us: Hospitality (a warm friendly atmosphere), Respect (consideration and compassion), Stewardship (managing community resources wisely) and Justice (good will and dignity in all relationships). It's on an attractive, rolling site that was formerly prosperous farmland, and our house is on one end of our street, bordering some woods.

Pros and cons

I feel that there should have been toilet seat riser and bars for the toilet already in the room. If they would have been she may not have fallen the three times and her care plan wouldn't have gone up. With the expense of the room some things should have been included like band aids. I love the staff and how they take care of her, I just feel like I have to watch every new thing for the so her care plan does go to high

Review for Benedictine Living Community Anoka

The experience has been good so far. Change is hard especially on older folks so that's been a challenge. Also, someone being independent for so long and then being in a place where they are there all the time is a big change. The staff has been nice though. My mom got Covid from another resident within the first 3 weeks so that was very hard. They never really communicated clearly when she was free to move around the building again. One other challenge has been that the staff knocks once at the door and then opens it and walks in. This is bothersome for a very private person. We are working this out. I am sure things will iron out -just hard at first and would have been anywhere.

Solid option with smaller neighbor feel

Remodeling the bathrooms is slow, enjoys her deck, appreciate the check ins when she doesn't attend meal time. Need a wider variety of activities to engage more people... use big screen tv for residents to watch sporting events? Or shows like wheel of fortune? could do theme meals and add different cultural options? Maybe more take to go breakfast options, muffins, bagels, boiled eggs & fruit
