Experience so far

The staff is not consistent with care from person to person... great concept for care suites but no options for meals. It's all or nothing for price when my loved one eats very little food. We have worked a lot with them and getting needs addressed.

Smaller community w/ a homey environment. Just be sure to advocate for loved ones with higher care needs.

It's a smaller community with a a homey environment, and there's a warm feeling when you come in. I would just advise that you ask a lot of questions about the care that they provide, and all the different options that are available, as I would have initially done some things differently had I known what I know now. My loved one started out in Assisted Living, where they have 8 different levels of care. He ended up at the top of those care levels, which was quite expensive. And then they weren't able to accommodate his higher care level needs very well. We have since moved him to Memory Care, which is actually cheaper than Level 7 Assisted Living. I'm hoping that he gets that higher level of care there. It does seem like it's getting better. He's getting more 1:1 care as well as more attention from doctors. But just know that you need to really be proactive and keep on the staff to make sure that your loved one is getting the care that they need. Some of the staff don't speak English well, and that contributes to issues sometimes. I don't think they do a whole lot of activities. The food is really good though. They seems to have a really good variety, it tastes good, and portions aren't way too large. Most importantly, my loved one likes the food. And he seems to be adapting really well now that he's in the place he needs to be (in Memory Care).

Review of Benedictine Health Center

The physical therapy has been good and she's been making progress. When the staff took her clothes to clean them they took everything, even if they were already clean. The administration has been great. The privacy for the shared bathroom isn't sufficient. They seem to be friendly. Her appointments information never made it into their system. There was spilled water on the floor in the cafeteria once and no one cleaned it up. The floor in her room has been sticky. The bathrooms looked to be in good order. My mom likes the food. She likes the choices offered. They let us know what to expect during the month. They communicated very well.

My wife can't lock her door, so it seems like everyone just walks in on her and doesn't even knock and that scares her. Every time she turns around someone is trying to do therapy on her and she can't get any sleep. She can feel the springs coming through in the bed and that also makes it hard for her to sleep. The people working at the front desk are nice people, very friendly, and they greet you. It seems weird. No one seems to be in a good mood. The cleanliness is good. The dining room is first class, it looks executive and very clean. The food doesn't taste good to her.

I see some things that need improvement. My loved one is getting rehab therapy two times a day. They are really working with him. The nurses are good. They keep his room in order and the laundry is taken care of. I like that they have self-service juices. They bring out salad and meals. If he requests something they bring it to him.

Steeple Pointe is good, but...

A nice facility in a nice small-town-feel area where you can walk to what you need, if walking is an option. The single rooms are decent size and clean. There is no staff to be found on the weekends!! You have to look hard to find anyone except the food prep staff. The food is fair at best and mostly from a can, so not overly healthy but comforting to a certain age group. The price is on the lower side which reflects the lack of staff. The flip signs on the doors are a joke since no one is there to see them and act on them, and one side states "I'm OK" and the other side is blank. They are slow to correct problems also. If you have the money there are better places (Sunrise), but that is a big "IF" for most people.

extremely poor communication

My loved one is housed at the Benedictine Memory Care facility. Communication between staff, nursing staff and the residents' loved ones is very disappointing. Especially when the resident is unable to speak for themselves. Trying to get answers is worse than pulling teeth. Phone calls are either returned at their convenience or not at all. And questions are avoided or vaguely answered. And most of the aids do not speak very good English. There has been a lack of activities for residents to do. And I feel that the environment is boring and stale. Very disheartened to find this facility lacking in these areas.

They started off on the wrong foot, the disorganization with the weekend crew was obvious. I think the nurses need to be present more, checking in on her more. It looks neat and smells clean. She hasn't liked the food. They have their own lingo that was hard for me to understand because I'm not in the industry. They shouldn't use technical jargon with the families and patients.

The therapy team consists of great people! I am not crazy about the housekeeping. The nurses are short staffed. The meals are cold and tasteless. The communication has not been good. When you raise a concern or when you press the call light, I hear there is a least an 8-minute wait to get help.

This was an awful experience, the care just wasn't that good.

This was an awful experience, the care just wasn't that good. They were supposed to be watching my loved one who had a paralyzed leg. They watched him fall out of his chair, and then didn't know that he broke his ankle until two days later. Nobody checked it for two days! They were not good at all.

Not The Facility It Is Portrayed to Be

My first visit was several days after mom became a residence I found nothing about the place I liked. We had to walk considerable distance to get to room. Wait way too long on-call button she has bladder problem), food tasteless. meds not always on time, too much visiting at aides station, lack of caring and loving environment, wastebasket not emptied for several days, crumbs on floor, many of the people in her dining area are not able to carry on conversations wheras she can - its her body giving away. Many tears she has shed Looking to the future with hope of better times.
