I would highly recommend Oak Hill Residential Care for the needs of your loved ones. My father has been a resident for over 2 years now and is doing better than ever. He has all types of issues and needs full time help with everyday living. They have good caring helpers and a great staff of nurses that help my dad daily. They take care of all his medications and they even have a Doctor that comes to the facility to take care of all the loved one's needs. Another plus is the place is very affordable for the care you receive

My mom is 95. She had been living at her home by herself with limited care giving. This past summer she had a medical situation that she was having a hard time coming back from. The family finally realized that it was time for her to go to an assisted living facility. I called "A Place for Mom". They pointed me in the right direction. After my family and I toured many different places for assisted living we chose Cloisters of the Valley. I knew right away that this is the level of care my mom needed. Caregivers 24/7, single story facility, friendly atmosphere. I sat down with Bonnie the Executive Director and with tears in my eyes said this is where my mom needs to be. Cloisters of the Valley has been great. But what I had a hard time with was the adjusting period that it took for my mom to get in with the swing of things. It is only normal for a person that has been in her home for almost 50 years to have an adjusting time when moving to a new place. The best part of moving her in was she able to have all of her own furniture. It has been a month now. She is joining in on a lot of the activities. She is having three good meals a day. And for us, Cloisters means peace of mind. If any issues come up with mom they are on the phone to us. When we go visiting many of them know our names. Cloisters of the Valley was the best place for our mom!

The Director & staff at Cloisters helped my 94-year-old mom (and me!) through her difficult transition to her new home this past summer. Cloisters provides a flexible level of care and is ideal for someone like my mom who no longer can live independently and actively but who still appreciates the comforts of home, rather than a nursing facility. My mom has a lovely room furnished with her own belongings, and she appreciates walks in the garden. I visit often and never see anything worrisome. She is well and her surroundings also are in good shape. Most importantly, my mom receives warm, personal attention from caretakers who check on her frequently and give her all of the help that she needs, plus provide positive social interactions. The activities Cloisters offers and the nursing/medical support it provides are excellent, too. In addition, my mom enjoys the food and the company of others around her same age. I take her out sometimes, but she's always ready to return for dinner at her regular table. My family is grateful to Cloisters for keeping my mom, despite her weakening physical and mental abilities, as safe and content as she can be at this time in her life. The staff is very responsive to my requests and inquiries, too. Cloisters is just the right size to offer sufficient professional services without seeming institutional. It's a place that emphasizes genuine one-to-one care, conversations, and connections.

She seems to be very happy there. They are doing a very good job. The head nurse gave us the tour and she just had so much knowledge, and was able to answer all my questions. We also liked the location. There isn't anything that needs to be improved. she seems to be happy with the food.

They have wonderful grounds. The people are friendly, but we were in the nursing home end of it, so it was a little different environment than what a normal assisted living community is like. The physical therapy services were fantastic.

Our first experience at Emeritus at Carlsbad was very comforting and supportive in a difficult situation. We needed to move our father to the Memory Center after multiple caregivers caring for Dad at his home 24/7. Many errors were made as Dad was starting to fail. We realized that he now had "graduated" to a need for increased care at the Memory Care Center at Emeritus at Carlsbad. Pamela and Doris made me feel very comfortable and supportive. The facility is very clean, Dad now has his own room with items from his own home to help him feel more comfortable. He is more easily accessible to family members here in Carlsbad. Great job, Emeritus at Carlsbad!

We are very happy with this decision! One area that could use some improvement would be the communication within the staff, as well as with third party contractors, such as physical therapists, etc. The communication is happening, but I wouldn't say that it is as effective as it could be. Also, another area of improvement could be their activities for men. The activites seem to be geared more towards the women, and the men could use more socialization within their own group. However, what we did like was that there were enough male residents. Also, the value is great! The management staff is good, and we met with one of the owners prior to making our decision. The ownership is very hands on and involved in all aspects of the facility. The parking can be challenging when it's busy, but there's enough for the size of the facility. I also think the food is good. I personally think there could be a bit more variety, but it seems to be well-prepared and well-balanced. In my opinion, they have little things to fix, but they are working on making themselves better, being that they are a newer facility. Based on my research, they are a real gem in North County. They may not be as well known as some of the others, but we are so happy with our choice!

There are only about 25 people there so there is more individualized care, and they are able to be more attentive. They also have a larger percentage of men, than most. When you walk in it's very homey, it's not institutionalized, You don't see linoleum everywhere or buckets of mop water. Their attitude toward their patients is wonderful, they tell you not to bring valuables or family heirlooms because they know that the residents like to wander into peoples rooms and see something that catches their eye and they take off with it, this way they are they don't mean to but it happens, this way they don't have to worry or tell them no all the time. They have all kinds of activities for them to do. I came in the other day and they were bowling in the living room. They had somebody from the animal park come and bring some animals in, they let me bring my dog to see him. It was such a good fit for him, it looks a little bit like an old fraternity house. He says he really does like this place. If somebody is looking for a cruise boat kind of experience this is not it. I like the size of the place. It was an old mansion originally, and they haven't cut the rooms up. And when I go in there are people sitting in the dining room having tea or eating and not at just certain times, they are able to be a little more flexible with things like that. You get the feeling they actually know your loved one here.

My uncle lives here and i just recently visited him for christmas. This is a very nice place. Everything is pretty new and the staff are plentiful and very kind. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. There are a lot of activities for him to do. We helped decorate the tree in the lobby and then watched a movie together. They have a nice garden outside with a putting green which was cool. hope this helps.

I absolutely love The Cloisters of the Valley, where my aunt has lived now for about two weeks. In that time we have come to know the countless people who work there, who help her in so many ways. She has caregivers, nurses, visiting doctors, a beauty salon, a very helpful handyman, a wonderful executive director and her assistant and the activities director, to name a few. Residents are provided with daily activities, from exercise classes, to live music performances, bible classes and church services, games, slide presentations and many more. I just hope it is still available if/when I need assisted living. She has a lovely private room (about 11X17-one of the "smaller" ones) with a sliding glass door to her patio, and which looks out onto a beautiful garden. Throughout the interior of the building there are gorgeous paintings, furniture and other decor. I've eaten in the dining room and the food was great as was the service.

The staff is just very warm and friendly. I guess there are some little things like my mom's hearing aid batteries have gone dead and I don't know if they have a system for checking them but little things like that could improve. Other than those little things, mom is well cared for, clean, rested and well fed. She likes it there. She gets assistance transferring into her chair in and out of bed. She has help with dressing sometimes she needs a little encouragement to eat. I think for the care she's getting the cost is very reasonable.

My wife is there and they're doing a fine job for her. It's a lot of money. I was shocked to tell you the truth. I've had my parents in facilities before and I was surprised at how much more expensive they are now but my wife needs a whole lot of care. That part of it is very good. I think the patient care, she needs a lot, and I think they're doing a very fine job of that.

Great place and my loved one are very happy here. In these communities you need to feel very welcome and from what I have seem Vista Gardens is very welcoming and they bend over backwards to accommodate. If you think there is something that shouldn't be they will correct it if needed. The resident seems very happy here. The community is very new only about 1 1/2 years old. They seem like it was built very thoughtfully because the sun just streams into the community very nicely.

I can give them a 5 for cleanliness and friendliness without a second thought! I am cheap so I would always like things to be free so for the value, I'm going to say they did a great evaluation and they're great, but I'm cheap. My aunt just got there. She is somewhat paralyzed so she really can't enjoy the activities as much as I wish she could. I chose the community because it offered all ranges of care. The place is extremely clean and well designed. The food is very good with many, many choices at each sitting. The director was very nice. They do the medical evaluation very quickly - just the physical evaluation needed a little bit more. We want a wheelchair saddle so my aunt doesn't slip out of her chair and a floor mat in case she slips out of bed. She only arrived last Tuesday night so to be honest, they are doing very, very good.

Beautiful facility. The atmosphere is friendly and welcome by all the smiles from residents as well as staff. Staff members say hi and introducing themself. As we walk thru the halls residents seem happy to be there. When Maria, Director of the Memory Care, took us to see the area the residents there hug her and asked her if she was coming to stay. Maria's office is right in the middle of the Memory Care area and all the residents seem to be well taken care of by all the staff. Fees are a little on the high but I can see why. Great location and not in the middle of traffic.
