Nice facility, nice staff. My mom’s dementia is not that bad. The residents are severely in need and my mom is way to active to be placed in this kind a residence

We would've had to pay twice as much here for mom to have a private room as it was her last couple of weeks on hospice. This community was very understaffed at night and my mom would've waited for a long time for a person to come help her if I had not stayed with her so much. The CNA's were kind and respectful, and worked very, VERY hard. All of the night staff work hard, there's just not enough of them. It was a little rundown looking and in an older building, but they did keep it clean. Just felt depressing when you stepped in.

My Father was in the memory unit. The care givers were very friendly and caring. In my opinion, the director of the unit, Molly, was NOT qualified to run the unit. It was NOT organized. We were continually complaining to her about the housekeeping. We found food dried to the floor on more than one occasion. Also, fecal matter in the toilet and fecal dried on the sheets. His oxygen was not even plugged in one day - we do not know how long it had been unplugged. We would find used utensils in plain sight sitting in the room with dried on food. The housekeeping was terrible. We would have moved my Father but he was terminal and the move there was hard and he liked the care givers. When asking questions about the days of the laundry etc. it was a different answer each time. We would have to ask them to change the sheets. It was not done on a regular basis. I would not trust them with a family member if I was not there often and I am concerned about the care of the others there. He had dentures but we could tell he was not brushing them. Did they remind him? It is a memory unit. Once my father needed meds as he was uncomfortable and the hospice nurse asked for them to be administered and he was told, they were in a meeting and when they were done they would get to it. HE WAS ON HOSPICE!! Are you kidding? Later when he got worse, he was moved to the nursing facility. This is where the nightmare started. My father had lung cancer so when he needed meds, he needed them right away. Even though the med had literally walked from Memory to Nursing, Nursing could not find them. After more issues, the meds were found but the staff refused to administer until they were done with their regular rounds. My Father was in pain and drowning in his own fluids. Finally my sister had to call 911. My father was transferred to the hospital and then another facility for the last few hours of his life. Terrible experience. Also, the sales staff makes promises but they do not keep them. Watch the numbers! It took me over 6 months to get an invoice that was correct. I would not put another family member there!

i am a social worker and was checking out Brookdale Yorba Linda on behalf of some people I was helping. She has dementia and I don't feel that they were very transparent about the cost that would be needed to care for her. As the care she needed increased upon further evaluation, the price really shot up as well. The facility itself is very nice and clean. But the lack of honesty and transparency was an issue.

Did not like this place. It felt like exactly what I expected all Assisted Living facilities to be like. During our 90 minute visit, we saw only four residents - 1 asleep, 2 completely unresponsive sitting alone, and 1 man who ogled at my stepmom in a very close, creepy way. Only saw one group participating in a reading group, of whom more than 1/2 seemed to be asleep. Apartments were fine, but nothing outstanding.

Be very careful about this place. Loud noisy room. Constant battle to get the neighbor to turn the TV down at night. Management didn't help. Had to sleep in the living room for a year. If you're hard of hearing, then it might be ok.

We did not have a good experience at Brookdale Rancho Mirage. They would say things that then did not transfire. There seemed to be a lack of caring and understanding. They don't meet the resident's personal needs. The food was fair, nothing great. But there were times they would not bring my mother her food. The residents there do not like it there at all. I had to move my mother back out of this community.

Absolutely terrible experience. Do NOT bring your loved ones here. The environment is unprofessional and unwelcoming. Staff members are consistently rude and disrespectful, and there is clear favoritism among employees. Several interactions felt judgmental and discriminatory. HR ([name removed]) was especially unprofessional and dismissive. Concerns were not handled properly, and there was no accountability or effort to resolve issues. This place needs serious changes, including replacing staff with individuals who are professional, respectful, and capable of doing their jobs correctly. I would strongly advise people to look elsewhere.

Staff friendly with great intention but seemed to be short staffed.. Stay on top of staff. Again great staff but too much on their plates. And unnecessary charges I.e. charging over [removed] mo to get a wc ride to dining or pay [removed] a meal in room. It could also be my dad very reliable on help but we were told pay more and his needs are going to be met. They weren't. My dad died just 20 days after leaving their care and when we asked them at brookdale to assess our fathers need for hospice, we were told he wasn't ready for it and did not qualify. They were obviously wrong because the first thing the new place did was assess that, yes, he did need hospice asap because of the fragile state he came to her in. His total stay at brookdale was only 16 weeks so he qualified then and they should have seen him declining during their care even if he wasn't qualified at the time he was admitted.

My husband wasn't there very long. A couple of weeks after he moved in, he was hospitalized with an infection in his toe. He's diabetic and his feet needed to be watched closely. They didn't check them. I don't know what happened while he was there, I only know of the consequences of him being there. He spent 3 weeks at [name removed], from there went to [name removed]rehab for a couple of months, then to home care at a home in La Costa. He was there two weeks, had a massive coronary, and passed away. I blame the carelessness of the staff at Vista Gardens. Had he been watched and taken care of more efficiently, he wouldn't have had such a bad infection at in which sent him to the hospital, which began his deterioration. We had such high expectations. I thought I'd found the prefect place where he would be taken care of, safe, secure, and healthy. But i failed.

My mom's had various things come up mysteriously missing from her room before by dishonest caregivers, & the ratio of caregivers is sometimes as low as 1-2 per 18 residents, The quality of the food is poor. Parasites were found in the water at one point, only to have discover legionnaires disease,. Leaving no water for a period of 3 weeks! Outhouses in front. All and all, it's not worth the money one has to fork out to reside there, they'll certainly try to tell you anything to get you or your family member in there, but they do not deliver.

They were short staffed to the point that they couldn't cover shifts. Sometimes no caregivers or med techs on duty. High turnover due to poor management. In my moms final 5 hours staff was supposed to administer morphine every 30 minutes. No one ever came until she passed. I had to give her the morphine. Caregivers do not check on residents on schedule as supposed to.

I would never recommend Brookdale Riverwalk to anyone. There were supposed to be checks and balances. My dad was supposed to be checked on every day and was not. His children had to deal with not being able to see their father after death. He could not be embalmed. They did not care for him as promised. For $[removed] a month, and in January it went to $[removed], he laid there dead for 48 hours. I have filed a complaint with the state.

Sadly, I found the care here poor. no one would answer the phone at any of the departments when I called. Left frequent emails with no response. When we decided to move my mother to another facility, the Director of long-term care phoned me quite upset and mad. I would not recommend letting any of your loved ones stay here, short term or long.

I had a very good experience during the first tour. I went to a bbq that I was invited to and they would not let me in due to my vaccination card and since we did not have it they had no flexibility to let us in and this did not sit right with me. We should have had a heads up that the card was needed.

My husband was in the skilled nursing portion of the Bayshire Rancho Mirage facility. His doctor sent him there for rehab prior to coming home because he had grown physically weak and required physical therapy. It was a terrible place for him. First, the physical therapy was not daily but only once or twice a week. We knew he was weak but nobody even bothered to show him leg and arm exercises for the times when he could not get out of bed. Further, he was not bathed properly and came home with sores on his backside. His clothing was not changed for days on end. And sadly not a single physician or nurse called me to update our family so we had no idea that he was being neglected to the extent that he was. He suffered so much from the lack of care that he called me and begged me: "get me out of this place. I cannot take it here." Finally he discharged himself "against medical advice" and we were able to bring him home.

I do not have experience with the facility after it was rebranded in [date removed]. Prior to rebranding, it was severely understaffed with dishonest administrators. Some of the individual care givers are excellent, but they have many more residents than they can handle, and the attitude of the managers is one of hostility. They care only about profits snd not at all about the care of the residents.

We moved our father out of Barton Creek a week ago, and kept it confidential where he was going. Within the last 7 days not only were we asked where he was going by the administrative team, CNA’s, they continue to ask his care givers, the driver whom transported him to his new location, and my family members. They are still asking as of yesterday, 7 days after we moved our father. I was a part of Barton Creeks team for over 8 years and I know for a fact that this is unexceptionable behavior from any caregiver whom follows the HIPPA policy.

If Nancy Reagan taught us anything, it's to "just say no"! They are understaffed. The staff they have are quite rude and dismissive. It takes them way too long to respond to the patients. My mother in law slipped off her bed while getting dressed and it took over 20 minutes for staff to respond! It took 3 residents and 1 staff member to find the appropriate help. Unacceptable!!! The facility apologized but we're way beyond that. They had no explanation for their actions only a "I'm really sorry". Thankfully she was ok. This is not the first time this has happened either. They are slow to respond constantly. The kitchen area on the 2nd floor is always dirty with food and dishes from previous meals that should have been cleaned up long ago and the dining room/bingo area is dark and dank. This place needs some life and some better staff. Not happy
