My grandparent has been there for several months. This place is more for independent living with little assistance needed. If your loved one needs assisted living, then go to another place. Wonderful environment, but not the right place if you are looking for assisted living.

I moved my mom after a few months in memory care here. The leadership was lacking. When we brought things to their attention, they deflected and tried to put things back on my mom- a woman with Alzheimer’s. We heard - well she does it too. They allow “community shopping” where residents can take things from other rooms bc well, they roam. Memory care smelled like urine in a main hallway. We lost [fee removed] dollars in a community fee after a few short months, but I felt we had no other options. My mother has been much happier in a different memory care facility.

While this facility is clean and new, the quality of care is very poor. My father-in-law was in the memory care unit for 26 days starting in [dates removed]. During his time there he was injured 7 times requiring medical attention and one of those was a head injury requiring hospitalization. After the first week we knew this was not a safe facility and moved him as quickly as possible. We ended up hiring a 3rd party service to watch him at night until we could relocate him. At night the staff sit out in the common area on their phones and don't make rounds checking on the residents. I have witnessed this personally on an overnight stay. There were several times that we found other residents in his private room and they were sleeping in his bed, going through his personal items and eating his snacks. Management is unapologetic and would not follow up with us to discuss the issues with their facility. [name and email address removed]

My mother and I visited Avanti Towne Lake in July. This was the first place we visited - the first place. My mom thought the place was great - but we had several other places to visit. They told her they only had one room available and convinced her to put down a "fully refundable deposit" to hold it for a week - because she told them that she loved Avanti but she had other places to visit before making her decision. She decided two days later to pick a different place and we requested a refund of the deposit. We were told it could take a few weeks but it would be refunded. A few weeks later, there was no refund. I started calling - the sales person we worked with was no longer with the company, but [name removed], (the Executive Director, who was in the meeting when my mom was told she could get a refund) told me he would check into things and call me back. In a later call he told me she would get refunded. Today, he told me that she would not get refunded. Avanti lies to the elderly.

I would not recommend Avanti. All it is a place to sleep. Much like an apartment that issues medication. Nothing extra, cold and non-caring environment. Language barriers for sure. Ask how many hours a day they spend on assisted living patients. My experience was 2 at best and that was just housekeeping and medicine.

I would recommend you look elsewhere for a community for your loved one. There was trouble accessing the building after 7 pm, we had to knock on windows to get someone to assist us. There is general sense of confusion for medication management for the residents. The charge nurse has papers floor to ceiling and not organized. I would recommend the community have more security at the front door. I feel upper management could fix a lot of our concerns. As a key caregiver of my loved one I noticed things; however, if a family member didn't visit as frequent then they may not recognize some of the concerns we had. The community lost sheets for my loved one's bed. The clothes and linens would be all over the floor and around the hamper area. My loved one's room wasn't as clean as we wanted. The room had a very strong smell, very dusty, and weren't able to wash the comforter. This was a poor experience overall for us. The grounds and building were very nice and modern. The carpets do need cleaning as there are stains on it. The food wasn't tasty and my loved one didn't care for the food offered. It was very poor in balanced options with small portions. There weren't cups available outside of the dining room and I feel the residents weren't as hydrated as they should be. The outdoor area had no shade to it and when the heat can be very dangerous and there was no where for the residents to sit and relax. I didn't see PT, OT, or an Activities Director to engage the residents with activities as a group. The only group activity I saw was the residents watching tv in a common area.

We thought that when Our father decided to sell their home and move into Assisted living position it would be better, mentally for him due to his and his wife needing that extra care, the picture portrayed before transition was NOTHING to how things have transpired. ALOT of unavailability from upper management and broken promises. We live 7 hrs from Our father and his wife and We can never get answers when needed. They should NOT have to go thru such things at 83 yrs old .

My dad was treated poorly here. He died because of their neglect. Things went missing from his apartment. This place looks nice on a tour, but it is a nightmare once your parent has lived here.

The staff needs improvement and to be able to handle memory care residence. Additional training is needed. Communication was not good and we were not kept informed. I would not recommend this community to others.

If your loved one requires medication supervision, enjoys friendly staff cooperation or generally wants to be cared for, DO NOT GO TO HIS PLACDE. Meals are late, medications are late, staff is sterile and they seem to be in it for your money.

As a resident of Avanti at Shenandoah for a year and a half I would recommend if you are looking for this service look elsewhere. For the past three months all of our complaints to the residence council meeting then submitted to executive director have gone on answered . The food service and selection is poor,my room has not been cleaned in two weeks

The Avanti simply over promised and under delivered. Staff quit, food was mediocre, clothes lost. We moved my mother in-law out.

Find another place. Meds not given properly, understaffed, upper management and corporate are rude and not easy to work with. They don't return phone calls. They have their own agenda and that is to make money and make it the easiest way they can. Unfortunately, that doesn't include taking care of their residents in the best way possible. Too much turnover from top down. No accountability and not much care. They will reply to this saying they want to talk about the experience but my family tried and they don't want to hear bad things and certainly don't want to fix things. We have had other family members in other places even during covid and the experience is much more pleasant, the staffs are much more caring and attentive. Wait for their response...there will be fake concern and excuses. Please do yourself a favor and find another place. Don't waste time here. They are simply not worth it!

Absolutely NOT would I ever recommend Avanti. This was our first memory care, after 2 years of keeping home. We were there for 1 month and told we needed to go to a psychiatric hospital to have meds adjusted or couldn't stay. Unwillingly, after they assured us this has been done many times, we agreed. HORRIBLE! Went in on 2 meds, came out 3 weeks later on 10! Was a complete zombie during that time. Avanti "assessed" him and said they'd love to get him back only to tell us 2 weeks later we had to leave. These meds have destroyed my loved one! We are now at a new memory care home and they have taken him off all meds and absolutely love him. The problem being that we hardly ever saw more than 4-5 caregivers at Avanti for 37 residents!!! Our new home has 3-4 caregivers (constantly) for 12-16!!! Avanti did not have sufficient staff and we along with many others questioned it. Others were afraid they would get kicked out and have no where to go. We fought and questioned and they did not like it!!!!

This place has constant staff turnover. It has been some time since this place has planned any sort of activities for the seniors. We were promised all sorts of things to keep our parent active and happy. None of that has come to fruition. Now the shut down has made things worse. It used to be that at least my siblings and I could visit him and take him out, but now, no one is allowed to come or go so he just sits in his room, a total shut in, not allowed to come or go, not allowed visitors, no activities. He has become depressed. They simply do not care. The final straw is that his TV has stopped working and no one will look at it so now, literally, he can just sit in his chair, not leave the room, nothing. My dad was functioning quite well when he went in, now he is just a depressed shut in.

Please look around. Over promise and under deliver big time. Mgmt and nurse not friendly, condescending and fake. I can only imagine after my dealing with corporate office that it comes from the top. Please go to a place that is real - that shows real care and concern not just something turned on for show when you visit. The place is very nice to look at but that’s all. No true schedules for laundry or cleaning and ask how long it takes to answer an alarm button and make them prove it. You will be astonished. Kitchen turned over at least twice, management team turned over 3-4 times and that’s in a year’s time. Turnover with fitness directors, activity directors, executive directors etc. if the place was so great, people wouldn’t leave in the numbers they have. All you will get are excuses. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Please trust me on this. I wish I could talk to anyone considering this place. Buyer beware!

It was so disappointing. They offered no activities. The had a huge staff turnover, including 5 or 6 administrators while we were there. The main issue was her pain medications were not being given on time and then six days of her medications went missing. She was prescribed compression stocking to be put on and removed daily, but she would go three or four days without them because the staff didn't do it.

Horrible. My Dad has been there for 6 months and the turnover has been crazy. The follow up is lacking and consistency is horrible - at best. This place charges as much as other, more established places and continue to charge as much while they figure out how to run a business. Very disappointing. Don't believe the sales pitch. So far - that's all it is.

If you like a pretty building, this is the place for you. If you care about proper medicine administration, activities to keep your loved ones busy, collaboration with leadership to provide the best situation for your loved one.....RUN, do not walk, away from this place. They do a great sales job, but never live up to their promises. The owners do not respond or get involved with serious issues, nursing leadership is incompetent at best. I would not recommend this faciliy to anyone who cares about your loved one.

This facility was oversold very badly. My mother has been a resident since September of 2017. This facility does not even rank it’s so poorly ran with no process in place for really anything. We have had several medical issues that were pretty serious falls where no nurse RN ever entered the room or even checked on the resident. Broken bones skin tears bad falls where never addressed looked at by RN nothing but begging for a possible Tylenol. We had home health treat and wrap large skin tear, and the RN which quit last week big shock left the large skin tear not changed or re dressed for 5 dAys. Absolutely disgusting for any resident which of course assisted living all residents have pretty big issues or wouldn’t be there. This facility has left the rooms uncleaned to the point nats we’re flying all on the bathroom weeks of laundry not done urine stained sheets etc. Yes this is no joke. Air conditioned insulation kept blowing from the vents onto the bed where the resident had no choice but to sleep in ac insulation. This place is a disgusting poor sold ran lack of care facility for looking nice on outside . Action is coming
