Avalon House on Gerard Court

Avalon has been a great place fot my mom. She is well cared for in this home setting with 8 residents. I highly recommend to any family! There are 3 staffers available at all times,. I can visit anytime. When compared to other options, Avalon is priced fairly.

My father stayed at Avalon house for multiple years and we never had a second thought as to whether this was the right place for him. The staff is outstanding and treated my father like family. They were flexible and adjusted to his unique needs. If there is an opening at Avalon, take it!

Avalon House has been a wonderful community for our loved one so far, it is able to provide more of that one on one personalized care and attention. After doing some research when it comes to the value here we are getting so much more for the money. They offer so much that our loved one is able to take advantage of and the care is much greater. The meals are incredible and we like how the staff are able to give specific care to the residents since not everyone is on the same level. Based on our experience so far we would recommend this community to other families.

My domestic partner passed away recently after 16 months at Avalon Gerard Court. His children and I chose it because it didn't feel institutional and has low staff turnover. We were delighted with the homey atmosphere, which let our loved one acclimate quickly, as well as the emphasis on safety and cleanliness. The caregivers are well trained, compassionate and attentive. With only eight residents, they know each one well, and they notice everything. We couldn't have been more pleased.

I'm very happy with Avalon House. My mom is doing very well here; it's affordable and the care team is really wonderful. I've already recommended them to other people, especially if they're looking for a place to send someone who has dementia or Alzheimer's. It's definitely cost-effective and that's really the thing that's most horrific in the United States, the cost of care. Once they move out of their ability to be independent, the cost is horrible. Unless you're a very wealthy person, there's not a lot of help for the middle class. Here, it's affordable and I also think it's good for someone who has this disease because it's a small intimate setting with not a lot of things going on, and not a lot of people like other places.

Our family has had a great experience with Avalon House so far, we have already recommended it to families and we will continue to do so. Our loved one has a special puree diet so we are not sure about the quality, but they always give her what she wants. We think the value for the money is great and this community offers care quality care for the residents living there

They were very good to my mother here at Avalon House on Dominion Crest. The staff were compassionate and extremely matriculate when it came to the residents personal care. The facility itself was always very clean. We would highly recommend them to others looking.

They were caring, flexible, and they looked out for the residents. They were very friendly, and very adaptable - meaning they could change easily when things change. Communication between the community and our family is very good. I would recommend Avalon House of Hardwood Lane to others, and I already have.

I toured Avalon House on Woodacre Drive and I liked it. The room they had available was not what we wanted at the time. We waited a bit and ended up seeing a different Avalon House location, which turned out to be the perfect fit for our loved one and family.

I think it's an excellent option for people who want a small, group home environment where their loved one is going to get more individual attention, as opposed to a large facility where they're not going to get the same attention and care. There are 11 Avalon Houses in the area, and each house has two live-in staff people. One is the house manger, and that person seems to stay consistent and doesn't get moved around. The second person changes sometimes, and some are better than others. The house manager at my loved one's house is excellent. One area for improvement would be when they bring in new staff, I think they need a little more training. From what I've seen, all of the help are Jamaican, and I think a lot of them have not had a lot of training in the healthcare field, although the managers all definitely have.

When we first visited we spoke with [name removed] who is within the management team and she spent so much time with us and really helped us with the transition. The main day to day staff gal [name removed[ has just been wonderful. Based on our experience so far we would recommend this community to others

This community was too expensive for what we were looking for. It was not our loved ones taste. It was too posh for her.

Avalon House is much less expensive than any other place else we looked at. We chose this facility because the houses are smaller and more homey and the staff turnover here is also much lower. We thought he would feel more at home here and that has turned out to be true. They emphasize above all safety and hat was my biggest concern. I would recommend to others looking.

I was thrilled with everything, except disagree with one staff member. I was able to speak to the owner and they were able to assist in getting the situation resolved quickly. Compared to other options I considered, that were more expensive, I felt so lucky to find Avalon House.

We toured this facility and really liked it, they just did not have an opening when we were needing to place my loved one.

The community really will work with you. They take their time to talk to us and work things out. Communication is good between the staff and the community and they keep us well informed and return calls in a timely mannor. I would recommend this community to others.

Avalon House is very clean, and we liked how this was a house and not a large community. It had a limited number of residents, and it was quite. We thought our loved one would be most comfortable here. Overall it was a great first impression.

This community is excellent, however they do not provide to many activities. They do bring in live entertainment in about once a month. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff really stood out to us in the beginning. Our main point of contact at this community makes a lot of traditional Jamaican food which the residents really seem to love. Our loved one has a nice size room, and they were very accommodating to us because we did not have any furniture to bring and they provided everything for us. The residents went into lockdown before everyone else did, and the staff has done an amazing job with keeping everyone say, no one has been ill. We are not allowed window visits. the only downfall about this community is they provide care to all type of patients, and some of those patients may act out more that make the other residents feel uncomfortable.

They were wonderful, I would highly recommend Avalon House.They sent pictures to me of my dad, he looked happy. They answered all my calls quickly. He gained 9 pounds so he was well cared for and liked the food. They were quick to let me know when he started to fail and had great communication so nothing was a surprise.

My experience with Avalon Homes was wonderful. My father lived in Avalon 10 which is a relatively new home on a quiet dead-end street in Mclean VA. The residence is modern, clean and very nice. The rooms are large and well updated. But most importantly, the staff is wonderful. The head nurse, [name removed], took great care of my father and I could tell that she really cared about him and all the other residents. He had considerable mental and health problems and none of that phased the staff at Avalon. My father was previously at a different care situation (name rhymes with Tunrise) and the Avalon Home was a million times better. Having dedicated, live in staff who take care of just a handful of residents means they can take a much more personal approach to each residents' care, and that really makes all the difference.
