Atria

We toured a while back when we were looking for independent living for our loved one. I thought the facility itself was very nice. The apartments were very nice, and some even had garages. There were three levels of care on the premises, which would have been good. The only thing I didn’t care for was the fact that the independent living was across the parking lot from the main facility. So if it was raining, you would have had to walk through the rain to get to the dining hall. Also the only person I interacted with on the tour was the placement person, and I thought she was rather pushy. I wasn’t a fan.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. Their COVID practices were good. The atmosphere and friendliness stand out to me. The food seemed to be generic cafeteria food.

Atria Huntington is a beautiful place, the grounds themselves are beautiful. We have heard the food is okay especially for being in a community setting.

Atria Campana Del Rio was a good second choice. My loved one would have had a really large, nice patio that looked out on a courtyard. But she would have had to give up her kitchen, and she wasn't ready to give up cooking just yet. We found another place that offered full kitchens in the apartments, and that sealed the deal for her.

The community seems to be well taken care of, and we were able to eat a few meals with our loved one there. Overall the food was pretty good and he enjoyed it at first, but as time went on there was not a wide enough of a variety so it was repetitive. We do wish during the pandemic they would of made more of an effort to engage the residents in some kind of activities so they did not feel so isolated. However we were very excited when we found the facility, it just had a really good vibe to it.

I like that this facility was small and I felt like my dad would not get lost in the shuffle. Covid has been rough but it has been rough for all senior facilities. I would recommend this facility to others.

Making the choice to move to Atria was an easy one for my wife and me. Our home was close by and we had visited church friends living here, We were favorably impressed with the staff and the friendly residents we met. We have lived here over three years in a spacious apartment, and from our balcony we sit and swing and enjoy the sounds from the creek and are surrounded by colorful trees. We have made wonderful friends, and have enjoyed many of the activities available to us. My wife joined the Food Committee and I was elected to the Resident Council. We also became Ambassadors welcoming new residents and helping them find their way around the campus. We both feel we made a perfect choice in moving here. While dealing with the terrible pandemic has been a severe blow to the whole world, we are grateful that the Atria staff has taken measures to protect us. No resident has suffered from COVID-19, and we look forward to the time when we can resume life as we knew it.

It is difficult to communicate with the community. You have to monitor very carefully on what goes on. The food service has been late and my loved one won't get breakfast until 9 or 9:30 am. The housekeeping director was hard to deal with on laundry. Recently we haven't had any problems with the laundry service. I never receive a callback about the Executive Director. [name removed] has always been helpful and efficient. Annetta the head nurse has been great. I am able to speak to my loved one daily via phone. It is a lovely community, but it isn't perfect. I feel the level of care for the amount of money you are spending a month should be excellent.

Beautiful community. Rapid response to residents needs. Extremely clean. Staff very caring. The one negatative is the quality and preparation of food. Drivers are wonderful!

I was not an appropriate candidate for that facility. I am much too active and much too little interested in people. I was there to recover from surgery before returning home. Friendly, good food, well run.

The facility is kept very clean and the staff is very friendly. The continental breakfast is boring. Price doesn’t include lunch however, they do put out half sandwiches of the same 3 sandwiches daily in case you’re desperate. Dinner is usually good but it’s the same salad everyday and sometimes they serve things like couscous that really aren’t a part of elderly generation foods. Need a new recipe for Italian sauce. They could use improvement in their welcoming of new residents. Overall a good place and I’m sure above average.

If I could give the med techs and direct patient staff 5 stars separately, I would. My Mom has been there for almost 3 years and we feel she has been treated very well. I think the problem lies in the corporate structure. I'm sure theconstant staff turn over is due to low pay (for such tough jobs), and they seem to have reduced the staff (particularly in the dining room) in the last couple of years. All this while taking huge price increases ($300+ per month) each year. This is really difficult for seniors on fixed incomes. Too bad this "for profit" senior living corporation is so focused on profits.

My 84 year old friend has improved in so many ways since living in Atria. She is happier than she’s been in a very long time The staff are super friendly, courteous & well trained. The activities are geared for all levels.

This has been a rewarding move for my Mother-in-Law, she is comfortable in her roomy one bedroom apartment. There are many activities, she is close to shopping and doctors.

Although the facility is lovely and friendly, we were never told it was kosher. This seems like a big consideration to have overlooked when touring and signing on, especially for a non Jewish person. Also the food situation is bad. A new chef is in the works, but not so good right now

This is the answer for my M-I-L. She had a stroke & needs help with personal care. She can no longer drive nor shop/cook for herself. Prior to moving to Atria- she had a 24/7 aide @ her apartment. But she was missing the socializing she had pre-stroke. There are loads of activities to choose from on & off-site. There are several choices at every meal & the kitchen is open 7am to 7pm! Dinnertime- linen table cloths are on every table. She does use the house doctor, so she does not need to go off camps for care. She has received P.T. while there and is now mastering the use of a walker & only uses the wheelchair if she is tired or going a long distance. She NEVER thought this choice would work for her . After living there for 4 months- she is stronger & more independent than we ever thought she could be. My husband is an only child- and he now has peace of mind knowing she is living in a safe, well thought out community.

The people at Atria Grapevine are friendly and helpful. They are kind and caring. Recently there has been a large turnover in personnel in the memory care wing. They are starting to paint and make small updates that seem cheerful and help brighten up the environment.

We toured at Atria Draper and thought that the community was very good. The staff seemed friendly and they seemed to have a full schedule of activities going on. However, we thought that the community may have been too big for her.

I’m trying to understand how Atria can justify a 7% rate increase for 2018 (24% over the last 4 years), especially after the 7.5% increase for 2017. I would think they would have left the price the same, or even dropped it, after the problems they’ve had this year - in January, most of the waitstaff left causing problems in the dining room and Bistro which took several months to deal with; and, the lack of a Director for a few months. While this is a nice facility, it is in no way luxurious as stated on the Atria website These increases are especially disturbing since Social Security increased only 4.3% over the same period (most of which was taken up by MediCare), and the Consumer Price Index has increased only 5.4% between 2014 and 2017. Are all Atria properties getting such increases or is it just Davis?

This community was nice however the fact that my uncle primary language he speaks is Spanish sometimes he will talk all in English but he prefers Spanish and the fact that wasn't a language spoken by the staff that may have been an issue. The staff was nice and very welcoming. The community was very clean and well maintained great grounds.
