Atria

So far we've only had a week to form an opinion. They have been extremely friendly and it seems like they are doing everything to be accommodating. Check back in a few months and I'll be able to tell more.

This place was nice. Very home-like common areas with 7-7 dining room accessiblity. Lovely grounds with huge oak trees to see from many rooms. Parking is limited for visitors. Rooms are ok, mainly studios. Offering discounts. Just became an Atria. Nice feature of Stat checks where they check on residents routinely in a casual way.

Mom has been living at Atria Hacienda for exactly one month now. As far as we know, Mom is getting fine care there. We have tasted the food and know that it is of good quality. Her room is lovely. Our only complaint is that we have very poor communication with the staff. It has taken work to get a response. The system of communication with families is still a mystery.

It has been a wonderful experience for my Aunt. She is meeting so many wonderful people. The activities definitely keep her busy. She has not found a reason to be bored yet. She also raves about the food. She says that she gets so much lunch that she has leftovers for dinner.

Of the three facilities I saw today, this was the best one. Nice location. A little older but staff is willing to transition from assisted to memory care. Residents seemed happy: waved and said hello. Liked the look and size of apartments. Think Mom would like.

I like this community because it provides a good environment for someone who needs help, but still wants to feel independent. It's small enough that the staff can keep an eye on the residents while still allowing them their freedom. They know everyones needs and patterns, and can keep an eye out for any problems or changes. The director is a very nice person, and pleasant to work with.

He's only been there a little while, but two physicians have called and introduced themselves, and anything we need they seem to try and accommodate. They seem to be pretty nice, I have to say. The cost difference between this and the last community is backbreaking, $6000 without furniture, so there is something wrong with every place. So far, though, they have been very nice. On top of paying for them, they recommended a private 24 hour caregiver, and the cost has just skyrocketed. We are really pleased with the caregiver, and we're thinking about just moving him back home since he isn't doing the activities and really isn't getting anything extra out of being there.

My Dad lived there for about a year. While he was completely independent, it was nice to know that assistance was there if he needed it. The staff was the best part of Atria. I spent a good deal of time there while visiting my Dad and I got a sense of how challenging their jobs can be and, despite that, they were patient and caring. They had some great activites and outings that were well planned and diverse. It is in the city and in an older building, so you have to have some patience with thngs like the elevator and space in general. But, if you are looking for a facilty in the city, I would recommend that you consider Atria.

It seemed like a really nice place, just out of my price point since I'm the one paying for all of this. It seemed clean, and the whole set up was really nice.

I initially hadn't looked at this place because it was "assisted living", and I wanted something more active for my Dad. I wish I had looked at this place earlier, the residents seem much more active than the "independent living" location he is in now, where everyone has full time aides. This is a smaller community, and the building is a bit older, but overall the residents seem much more active and alert. Dad didn't like how congested it felt, but the staff here told me that it is set up that way to encourage people to socialize.

We selected this location because it was a smaller community, and I felt like the staff could get to know my Dad more individually. It's a nice looking newer place, and it is all set up around a center courtyard which keeps it from feeling congested. One issue I have is that I picked an "independent" community for my Dad so that he'd have some active people to socialize with, but most of the people here have full time aides who push them around in wheelchairs all day! The other "assisted living" Atria community seemed to have more active and independent residents than this place. I also don't like that the most recent time I have paid for some extra care for my Dad a care plan has not been posted on the door, so I have no idea what they are doing with the time I paid for.

The activities seem to appeal to my dad; he seems to enjoy them a lot. He loves the food and the cooking. He talks about the other residents complaining, but he really, really likes it. He has his own studio apartment and the staff is good. My dad and I chose it together because it was closest to my house, so I can visit often, and the price. It was more on the reasonable end.

Staff are kind and helpful if you are independent in all activities and daily living needs. Facility is lovely, downtown Philadelphia. Common areas are clean, beautiful. It is like living in a 6 story apartment complex. However This is not the place for anyone with memory deficits. If individual needs help with medications only, fine. Once confusion starts, and can not be independent with care and negotiating the facility, you are asked to leave or hire private aides to be with the resident as needed. This can be very costly, and more disruptive to the individual. If your loved one is beginning to experience memory problems, please find a residence that can deal with cognitive impairments leading to dementia. Transition is quicker than you will expect, and the moving in and out can be very stressful.

My mother-in-law seems happy here, now that she has made the adjustment and gotten settled in. It's a nice place, it looks and smells clean, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We've heard good things from her about the food, as well. This place came recommended to us by a family member, and so far they were right! We have had a few issues, and some billing mistakes that we got worked out eventually. This place is very expensive, and some of the extra services like helping point her in the right direction and getting her to activities, cost far more per month than the amount of work I imagine they require.

This is one of the locations we looked at when we were looking for options for my Dad. We were really doing our homework trying to find the absolute best place for him. This was a very nice place, it looked great and the staff were friendly, but it wasn't the perfect fit we were looking for. It was a little lacking in the community feel and social activities we were looking for. Very nice overall, though.

I don't live here myself, it is somewhere I helped my mother locate. When I have visited everything seems fine. It's clean, and the staff are friendly, and from what I've heard the food is fine. Mom seems to enjoy it. It's very expensive, but that seems to be how all of these places are.

I looked at this community while looking for options for my mother. Everything looked fine, however I ended up choosing another location that was more convenient, and provided similar quality for a better price.

Facility is beautiful, clean and bright. Jackie and her assistant were welcoming and knowledgeable. I met briefly with Suzanne the Life Guidance care manager, but did not get a chance to really talk with her. Jackie gave a tour of the Life Guidance facility and like with the AL side it is beautiful, clean and birght. Some of my impressions: 1. My first thought was the layout would confuse my Mom, though the facility is small enough that can probably be over come. 2. I like the smallness of the common room, they were comfortable in layout and not too large. While I was there a group of care givers and residents were making cupcakes. Though not all the residents were participating, I did not feel as if those that weren't were left out. 3. The patio and yard again like the common rooms was comfotable and big enough to hold a good range of activities. 4. The room, which is a semi-private room appeard small to hold for 2 beds (it is empty at this time). The bathroom is good size and being on the ground floor the one window in the room looks out on a nice patio/garden area. 5. I forgot to get information on the meal times, but all meals are prepared by the main kitchen and brought down to the Life Guidance facility. In addition both common areas have full kitchens which is nice to see. 6. I did not get a chance to talk with Warren the nurse, but all the residents appeard well taken care of. And there were wheelchairs parked against the walls while the residents were congregating on the chairs and couches in the common area. It was nice to see. 8. I also forgot to look at the shower facilities in Life Guidance, but if they are anything like the shower in the studio apartment that Jackie showed me, we're in good shape. 9. I also like the fact that the residents in Life Guidance can participate in some of the activities in AL. When I left the facility Jackie was going to try and get in touch with Warren, the nurse, so an accessment of my Mom could be scheduled. In addition she did provide me with all the paper work we need to complete, just in case. After sleeping on it, I like this facility very much.

They've been great. I think it's kind of like the extra charges come on easily. If there is anything that isn't great it's the beurocratic communication with the logistical stuff, but they have been great. My mother really likes it there. They offer a lot of activies. The care is excellent. The food is pretty good. They are trying hard on that. It's a real new york place it has a great new york feel. It's in a beautiful location right next to the river that gives it a lovely feel.
