Atria

We felt very comfortable with our tour at Atria Plainview. We are actually signing a lease agreement with them. The atmosphere, living unit accommodations, medical support services, meal offerings, and social, physical fitness and comfort amenities were all beyond our expectations.

The flexibility of the dining room service is most appealing to me.

We arrived at happy hour on Friday. There was a live musician and a pretty big audience having a drink and listening. Elke was a very good guide, answering our many questions about their approach to memory impaired patients, security, individual attention, daily routines, etc. The Atria was clean and the people who work there were friendly. I wish there was a bit more beautiful outdoor space but this is city living. All in all, I can see my mother living there.

My mother is in the memory care unit at Atria. The initial attention is incredible. It’s as if there is this team of people who are going to provide personalized care for your loved one. Especially in the beginning, I would regularly get updates as to how she was doing, activities, how she ate, etc. However, that does die down over time and, even though I actively visit and take her out, any input I received is now at my prompting. There are number of activities listed on the calendar to attend throughout the day at Atria, however my mother does not have access to many of them due to being on the life guidance floor. She enjoys the food and the staff is always kind and attentive when I am there. For the cost of living at Atria, there are a couple of things that are not included which I find odd that I do not think would cost much and only add to the quality of life. I have to state clearly that the main, if not only, reason my mother is still at Atria is because of the director of her floor, [name removed]. [Name removed] has continued to check in with me about my mother, when visitors come, and her general mood/functioning. [Name removed] is a priceless addition to life guidance. Knowing some one cares so much that she will contact me without prompting or prodding is incredible and allows me to sleep at night knowing my mother is safe and cared for. She will also talk to my mother and bring her with her throughout the building so she can get out a bit and socialize more. [Name removed] 2 days off may be rest for her but it’s the only time of the week I feel as though I have lost a great resource and a connection to my mom when I’m not there.

My parents are every happy at Atria! They have made friends, are treated with respect and have more of a social life than they ever had at home! There is something for everyone. The food is good and they go out of their way to accommodate requests.

Atria was very large, clean and well kept; the staff seemed interested in the well-being of the residents.

Clean, well run. Needs more parking. Attentive staff. A good possibility. The day I visited they were welcoming a number of children for an Easter activity.

Everyone who works there is extremely pleasant and helpful and immediately made my dad feel welcomed. His only complaint is the quality/taste/variety of food. The dinners are average. Lunch is always ham and cheese or tuna sandwiches. I would like to see more variety in daily activities. They do have special events especially for holidays but the day to day stuff could be a little more exciting. Overall I would recommend it and my dad is happy there. One major complaint is the offsite billing dept. they seem disorganized- billed my dad twice in one month which he paid -causing confusion and then charged a late fee the next month!

The food is wonderful, Every staff member goes out of their way to assist you & make your stay enjoyable. Lots to do every day. Transportation service is excellent. rehab process has been very successful. The one negative I could find would be more clarification of their billing & residence agreement would be helpful

Our first visit with dad. He liked the staff and a few residents he met with. Accomodations were nice with standard kitchen. Bonus was a good ground floor patio for dog. Amenities were ok. Closest to son #2.

We enjoyed our visit. The staff and residents were very friendly. The food was excellent. There is a variety of activities to keep one interested and engaged with other residents. Unfortunately while the apartment bedrooms were good sized, the living rooms were very small.

The staff really cares about the residents and families.

I didn't feel this would be a good fit for my mother here - seemed more like an assisted living than independent

This had the best customer service & tour. I left feeling that my parents would have the best quality care here until the end of their lives, and that they would be valued and looked after really well. There are no greenbelt grounds which was a bummer, as that means life is in a "building" forever. There are crazy long hallways and that is an issue as it would terribly confuse an elderly resident. Nice Bistro and dining looked good.

I am very happy with my choice. I like the fact that this is more like an apartment than a hotel with a front and back door. I have a balcony and patio where I can sit outside looking at the lovely grounds. Food is adequate; tenants and staff are very friendly; many activities including "Happy Hour" with entertainment every Monday and Friday. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it is an older facility so some of the apartments are a little dated.

Mom moved in and immediately felt "alive". This after deep depression of losing her husband some months before. She was welcomed by both staff and residents. Very friendly place!! The food -specially weekend brunch! Is amazing!! Always variety. And served the way you like it. It's sweet how they have a hostess to seat you - and they all know the residents' names and who you like to sit with. There really are lots of activities. Mom originally told me she just wanted to stay in her room and read. That quickly changed. Yes, there were days she kept to herself. But many more days had something to tempt her out to mingle. She really enjoyed the happy hours with entertainment. Everyone gets involved. Bingo is a hoot. Comfy theater seating and movies every day -oh and 24/7 popcorn. Well she didn't stay long as all family lives across country. So off she went to the East coast. She misses Atria I know. As do I -but I do go by and visit still!

Really beautiful facility and programming seems wonderful. The cost is higher than we are able to pay.
