This is a nice community, and my tour of went well. The community was well-kept from what I saw. The staff was kind to family, and myself. The experience went well overall, but it wasn't the community for my father.

For the most part everything is going pretty well for my mother here at this community. They are caring for her and her needs very well. The community is clean and well-kept. The staff have been very friendly and nice. They do a have a nice variety of activities for the residents to participate in. They also have nice outings outside the community. We are having some roommate issues, but hopefully we can get the resolved. It is a very nice community, and I would recommend it.

My father has lived at The Arbors in Bohemia for a year now. He's very unhappy with the food. I understand taste is subjective, but it's not hot when he gets it, and that's not subjective. I've complained about it, but I've been brushed off. Today, for the second time, there has been an outing scheduled and then canceled at the last minute. The reason they gave is because the "chaperone" had a meeting to attend. This is very disappointing to residents who are looking forward to some time out. It sends a message that the people in charge don't really care about the residents - their meetings are more important than their commitment to the residents. The Arbors is concierge, so you get a lot of services with no extra charge. But sometimes I think the services are sub-par. Today, I'm just feeling very disappointed with the service provided (or not provided).

Our experience with the community was a short one due the fact that my father ended up needing more care then they were able to offer. It didn't work well for us here, there were some good thing and bad things about this place. The staff was great and did all they can for us, but we did have to move him to a better place. The community is a good place with great activities and I would say this a good place for the right person.

The Arbors was a little run down on the Assisted Living Side. However, they are in the middle of renovations on the memory care side. It was clean and well maintained on the memory side. However, the residents did not seem very active. NOt a place for my mom.

It's been somewhat of a mixed experience so far. It's a nice enough looking place, and the staff seem friendly, but my loved one has had a few complaints. She says they're very strict about meal times, and that if she arrives even a few minutes early they make her get up and leave the dining room until they are ready. She also has had a problem with ants in her room, which it has taken them a while to resolve.

The Arbors bohemia is looks beautiful, smells clean, but there is not enough staff in the wellness area. There should always be someone in the wellness office to answer the phone and talk to relatives and they seem very light on staff in this very important area. They lock the door to the wellness office at times to give out meds and there just doesn't seem to be enough staff to go around to all the clients that need care. They also seem to need more than 2 different doctors that come in to treat the patients. There is a lot of paperwork in that area and it seems they need to hire more people so they could be better organized.

It's ok, but when they had say that they will have him ready by a certain time, they don't. When I changed from one to the next room and we were cleaning out the closets and gathering his stuff, there were dirty diapers under the sink. Whenevery I bring up an issue to someone, I keep getting the answer that it's not their department. I thought they were shadowing him and this doesn't seem to be the case, at least as far as I can tell. The residents seem to complain that the food stinks, it sucks. There is a choice of two things. The chicken is very dry. One time their choice was sardines or macaroni and cheese. They had dogs come in, and bingo, and old movies at night, but when I went in at 7:30 one evening there was nothing going on but old movies. They do have outings sometimes. The staff is friendly, the ones who clean the room and the ones who doing the activites and the receptionists. The reason we did take this is because they didn't serve alcohol.

Mom moved in for a week to week respite. Like it alot so she decided to stay on permanently. Recently there have been a few problems with her prescriptions, a drafty window and a leak in her ceiling which has caused her a bit of concern.

Like Atria S Setauket, very lovely staff. LIked the studios, but would have liked a bit more light; Do like the location of dining room. Like the "porch." Would like the common park area to be away from the noise of the LIE. Might be hard for those who are already hard of hearing to converse. Like the range of activities. All parts of the facility were being used from the common area to the beauty parlor, to the movie room. Was a little disturbed by all the people in the common area asleep. Did like the impromptu tissue paper flower making.

My concern was the elevator. At the time of my visit, residents were waiting on line for the elevator. I beleive maint or housekeeping was involved with the elevator. There should be a designated elevator for maint and h/keeping. A safty issue....

I am surprised at the other reviews of this location, and would tend to think these are reviews added by the Arbors themselves. reality...... This is an old holiday inn type building, as far as cleanliness I would think there could be some improvement, yesterday while visiting I noticed PILLS on the floor outside the residents doors, including pills found on the floor in the elevator, this is medication that elderly people have paid copays for! the food is mediocre at best, and if you order a meal to the room there is a 3.00 delivery fee tacked on to your rent, which in itself is fine but they deliver cold , half meals because they run out of things. they are drastically understaffed and have woken residents (including my mother )up at 4 AM to start administering morning pills just so they can complete the task before the next round needs to be administered. all this and we just received a rent increase of almost 220.00 meanwhile income from S.S. was only $20 the staff is friendly I do not want to take anything away from them, but as far as how this place is run it could use some major improvements

Decent place because of some of the staff and residents. Activities are pretty good, but food is below average. The aides are a mixed bag, some are good, some bad, and you never know what you will get. The upper management, however, is a different story. Because of this, good employees don't stay on very long and this causes issues for the residents.

It's a nice community, but it's not a great fit. There is one lady that is great, but if she isn't there I am not sure my loved one is checked on. Getting up and down from the third floor is really difficult. If you are mobile and able to get around you might be really happy here. If you are going to be on the third floor and you are able to hold a conversation this may not be the best fit.

The people working there are over worked and under paid. They aren't happy and it shows in their care. Don't choose The Arbors at Westbury. What amenities? The room size was fine/average. The cockroaches IN the rooms were the issue.
