Anthem Memory Care

The room is the perfect size. The facility is clean, no smells. Caregivers/Nurses are very attentive. The Activity Director is awesome! She does lots of different activities. She even takes them on field trips, i .e., bowling, picnics, Walmart, and walks. They have a hair salon and mom gets her hair washed and set every week. Food seems to be okay, not to my liking but mom never complains. The reason I'm NOT giving it a 5 is because she's always missing something from her laundry. She had some pjs that just showed up after being missing for 3 mos. I have to keep buying her socks. Now one of her pillows from her bed is missing. She is constantly losing her glasses. Sometimes it's her fault & sometimes they forget to give them to her.

At first Porter Place was good, as [name removed] was partially able to listen. First was eating. They told me he was using fork, turned out to be not true I asked for finger food, was told he didn't need. He fell trying to get up at least 5 times and since I was new to this, had to find out for myself there was a wheelchair he could not get out of. Often staff problems with not showing up. Also in watching patients in the activity room. Saw an older lady slide right out of her chair because no one was watching them. Laundry was another problem. His clothes were marked and consistently went missing and had other men's clothing in its place. Luckily there was one aide who took a liking to [name removed]. [name removed]was a godsend! Finally to not drag on, found the director rather hard to talk, and in my opinion. Dismissive of our concerns.

Staff friendly and helpful. Communication can be an issue with upper level staff may not see much and especially not on weekends. Difficult to get through if call main number as they do not have reception. Not a fan of how activities are done. Many things done with T V shows. Prefer live people doing the activities versus having them watch a game show with activities staff. Would like live musicians to come in, not music on TV.

The director and the other administration were wonderful. Very involved and attentive. They were always available for questions or concerns. Nursing was great! Detail oriented and available for questions or concerns. The caregivers were also attentive and encouraged my father to engage in activities. The caregivers really encouraged my dad to stick to a routine which was very important for him. The facility also respected my dad's desire to nap when wanted. The staff would always ask my opinion about these types of things to make sure I was comfortable with my dad's requests. The activities were nice especially the outings and the musical activities. My dad really enjoyed those. The food was not great. However, if residents wanted something other than what was being served, there were other options. The food is where the facility fell short, in my opinion. It wasn't very good. Hopefully the food quality can be improved. My dad's room was always clean and he was dressed and up for grooming daily. The caregivers also made sure that my dad sat with his pals. This was very important to him. During meals and for activities.

I have had trouble getting information from the Director. I've been trying for over a month to get the breakdown of fees from her, submitted multiple requests. The only time I've ever even gotten acknowledgement of the requests is when I happened to be there during office hours and was able to just walk in and ask her.

The facility is clean and the everyday staff are competent and very caring with the residents.

The staff cheerfully engage with the residents. They seem to truly care about the resident's well being & happiness. They kept my mom's room clean and free of tripping hazards. They get acquainted with the likes and dislikes of each individual & cater to their specific needs. Every staff member engages one way or another to the residents. Wonderful care.

For me, there wasn't much time. Literally less than a week to make the decision because of the rapid decline of my father. But honestly, I should have just gone with them after the initial tour/meeting. Even though they were the only place I had toured. Waiting and setting up other appointments to places wasted my time because then I wasn't able to set up the room fully before his check-in day. I had to let go of my idea of perfection because no facility is going to be perfect or how I would want it.

I am disappointed in the initial assessment of my sister. I feel like they assessed her incorrectly then raised the price after she was in the facility. Also, follow up from admin/nursing staff could be better. Follow up with doctors and family is slow and need constant reminders.

If your love one suffers from dementia with agitation and aggressive tendencies then Grace Point is not the facility. I must say they did try.

I've had issues with cleanliness of [name removed] room, but they are doing better. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

What they could improve on would be to have better activities for the residents, but overall it is a nice place. Yes, we would recommend Grace Point Place to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Every time I visit my mom, she appears to be well cared for. That is really the most important thing. She is always clean; her room is always clean and they're making sure she gets her medications as prescribed. The staff at Porter Place is doing for my mom all the things I struggled to accomplish while caring for her. The staff has also been responsive to my questions and proactive in communicating whenever there is something I should know. In short, Porter Place Memory Care is proving to be a Place for My Mom.

The food could be better. What we like the most about Willowbrook is the atmosphere and staff. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families.

I like the caring attitude of the staff. They could on activity that are more appropriate for people who have dementia. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families.

Porter Place was a good fit for my Mom. The staff is very knowledgeable about dementia and are very caring.. They have a good schedule of activities to keep the residents engaged. I liked that they have safety in mind with their motion detection and cameras in the rooms so they can help prevent falls, and actively respond when one happens. The in house therapy team is great- worked to help my Mom gain strength back after a hospital stay.

The day staff are kind and attentive. The building smells good and has great light and we would recommend Churchill Place to other families who may need a place for their loved ones

The value for cost is grey area because the price has increased from the base price to over 50 percent then what we budgeted for [date removed] (when she was admitted) and now is more at prices elsewhere (which she will run out of funds much quicker)

Close to home and small enough to get personal with the residents! I would recommend to others.

Overall I'm as happy as you can be in this type of situation. My Mother is not as far along in her Alzheimer's as most are in this community so that has been a struggle for her as she is able/active physically, and there are a lot of people sitting around alone doing nothing. Nurses have been amazing and nice to my Mom. Could be some improvement in personal hygiene help with residents from CNAs. The front desk staff - [name removed] and [name removed]- THE BEST! I have anxiety every time I pull in the parking lot never knowing what I'll see or experience and they help put me at ease with a genuine hello and kind smile. My only main complaint is the smell when walking in from the lobby. It is masked with constant spraying of disinfectant in the air, that irritates lungs and it's a combo of food/urine/disinfectant. Really hard for me. If they can solve this problem, it would be FIVE STARS!! Bottom line, my mom is safe and looked out for at Porter Place.
