Happy with it overall. Would recommend.

We are happy with Glenmont Abbey Village. The apartment is nice, and we like it very much. The only problem we've had is in getting set up for making payments and communicating with the staff in whatever online system they're using.

Serious Safety Concerns

Residents report that they are often “stuck” in the elevator between floors, and are left waiting for staff response after pushing the Emergency button. While there are stairs available, very few residents are physically able to use them. The Emergency Alert System could be described as a joke, were it not for serious potential consequences. Though the system is antiquated and totally inoperable, nothing has been done to remove the “emergency” cords and signs in the apartments. As a result, a number of residents have had serious medical emergencies and desperately pulled the cords to no avail, only then realizing that they had been given a false sense of security by relying on the visible evidence of an “emergency alert system”. The new executive director, marketing director and maintenance man are all aware of these problems, but show no interest in the resident’s concerns or safety. Meanwhile, the above selling features are still proudly listed on their website.

Dissatisfied Tenant

I would have a problem recommending them. Don't believe anything the management team says. They trick you into believing you're getting the best for your [price removed]. My apartment was so nasty with mold crawling the shower. My carpet filthy with black spots. I am paying an extra [price removed] for stainless steel appliances. I was to have white cabinets none of that happened. I am there and still don't have it. I'm disappointed. I have moved away from Hanover. It just didn't work out.

Sad

The residents here were very welcoming and nice to me when I first moved in. I do think that Glenmont would benefit from hiring more people, as there are only three staff members: a maintenance man, the manager, and an assistant. The manager comes off very rude and hostile and has made a lot of things difficult for me since living here. When i first moved in, I did not have a choice between which unit I could pick and was stuck with a larger unit than expected. I was recently given the opportunity to downsize, but was told I would have to pay an expensive fee and would have to jump through hurdles to move my items just a few doors down. There seems to be a lot of hostility and antagonization between myself and management, and I'm not sure where this is stemming from - it may be related to my request to downsize. As far as activities, there's a pool, exercise classes and trips to trader joes - but none of those things seem to be well attended. Last week the assistant sat down with all of the residents to address complaints regarding the lack of activities. He gathered over 70 suggestions, so hopefully it will improve in the future. The kitchen isn't really open aside from special occasions; but that may be a direct cause of short staffing. Overall, I'm having a good experience here with the other residents.

Good location for us, but felt a little older. Not enough activities for my active mother! Plus the 'gym' was nothing but a few pieces of equipment in a small room. was light and bright inside, they had just done a huge remodel and it shows. Did not have full kitchens, but had potential, especially for someone on a budget.

A change in ownership

We liked this community before the new owners came in. They wanted the community to be for independent living only. The have been remodeling the entire community. They lost most of their staff during the transition. We liked the staff prior to the change. With the changes this community would not work for mom.

Active Adult Community is Misused

While this community has many activities for those who want to participate, there are many residents who are in wheel chairs, use walkers/scooters and are not mobile at all. The complex is more of a nursing home. There are people on uppers levels of the building that are in wheel chairs and if there was an emergency, would not be able to use the elevator to leave. I think the Dept of Aging needs to inspect the "active " part of the apartment rating systems. EMTs are in front of the building at least once a week. Residents let their dogs go the bathroom on the balconies instead of walking them. Standards are very poor and when reported to the office, it is a mark against the whistle blower. Seniors are NOT respected.

definitely would not recommend!

I would not recommend. Definitely areas of improvement. Rent just went up [fee removed]. Ambulances are here quite often. People are moving out all the time. Noisy neighbors after 10:00 are not made to adhere to the rules. Massage therapist is listed, but in a year, they still don't have one. "Classes are being taught by older residents " in my opinion, it's a joke; not worth [fee removed] per month to live here.

The facility is mismanaged, maintenance issues are often ignored, cottages are old and appliances had problems, Emphasis seems to be on activities to impress the public. We left there almost a year ago and are living in the [removed]. 100 per cent better than King City.

Cannot Recommend

Basically, the office staff is hired for leasing. The owners, Livingston Capital, LLC, show little concern for the safety and well-being of the residents once they have signed on the dotted line. Repairs have been stalled for months. Communication is nonexistent. While I love the layout and enjoy great neighbors I cannot in good conscience recommend to others that they entertain the notion to move here.

Could be improved

While it is kept clean, they seem less attentive than originally presented. The meals that should be hot are often served cold; the meals are not always what was chosen from the menus. There have been concerns about theft which makes residents feel unsafe. During covid restrictions meals are suppose to be delivered to residents ‘ rooms, but some weren’t delivered at all. They have provided services such as covid vaccinations which makes it convenient. But they have limited their transportation services (for medical appointments) to one day a week.
