Tour of Village Park

We had a great tour with Village Park. The facility is absolutely beautiful and the amenities offered are amazing. I did feel like it was a little less personal. This would be a better place if your loved one wants to be more alone rather than having a family type atmosphere. It was too expensive for what we were looking for.

Great Facility!

My parents live in a bungalow at this location as they are still independent in daily activities. The facility is second to none and is beautiful. We wanted a facility that had independent living, assisted living and memory care and this facility had all three. All Staff is very friendly. My only criticism is the food service. Food is good, but service is extremely slow and a bit unorganized. Staffing levels are not adequate. Undoubtedly difficult to recruit wait staff that are not tipped with such a low unemployment rate. My parents lived their 2 months before receiving a menu. I would encourage anyone seeking out a senior facility to put Village Park on their research list as it shows very well.

I toured!!

I toured Brookdale Anderson, but it was independent living, and my father did not qualify for independent living. This community was gorgeous, but it did not fit my father's needs.

They took care of mom!

My mother was in Brookdale Anderson for Rehab and they took pretty good care of her. They are highly understaffed, but they try to do the best they can. The discharge process was a nightmare, I was dealing with the nurses and I felt like some of the higher up people should have been the ones helping me. Having the nurses be the ones helping me was taking them away from administering medications or helping other patients. Those nurses those work their tails off. My mother did have good care, though.

Toured, nice looking but expensive

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was well kept and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. However, it was also one of the more expensive places we saw. We ended up selecting another community, but this is somewhere I would have considered as an option for my loved one.

Friendly, accommodating staff

Our experience with Brookdale has been a very positive one so far. It's a nice looking place, and we really appreciate how accommodating they were when it came to the pricing and letting us get things set up with them before the lease with his previous community expired.

It’s very nice.

We’ve had some rough patches with the care services. Our loved one doesn’t do a lot of activities, but I wish there could be more. They have an adequate staff. They listen when I have concerns. They follow up when I talk to them about a concern. I’d probably still place my loved if I knew then what I know now. It’s very nice. There isn’t anything bad. They’ve treated my loved one very well.

Nice place, we liked the cottage set-up

We like the set-up of this community a lot, and the staff are very friendly! The apartment we have our loved one in is like a little cottage, and it has a full kitchen. It's an attractive place, but I feel like some of the surfaces could use a fresh coat of paint. The community is all on one level, so there are no stairs involved, but that does mean the community is a bit spread out, and there are outside portions between the buildings. This can make it difficult to get to the dining room, if there is inclement weather, although they are always willing to deliver meals to the rooms.

Rehabilitation at Anderson Place

My mother stayed at the Health Center for almost three months after heart by-pass surgery and then moved over to the Summer House for two months until we could move her closer to family. The nursing care was OK, but I tend to think they over medicate. The staff was caring, but she was at the end of the hall and I think did not get that much attention, especially early on when she needed a lot of help. There did not seem to be much staff around on Sundays. The physical and occupational therapy staff were great! They worked patiently with her, really paying attention to her needs. I can't say enough good things about them. When she moved to the Summer House, they continued working with her to give her the skills to live independently again. They kept in touch with me and were always available to discuss her needs. We are very grateful for all they did. When we chose to have my mom stay at the Summer House, the staff was very helpful in arranging that. Since it was a temporary arrangement and we did not want to move her furniture, they furnished the rooms for us. They did a beautiful and thoughtful job. They made the transition very easy for my mother and for my brothers and myself who all live far away. Some of the staff from the Health Center would come to visit her regularly after their shifts which was really nice, they really cared about her and I know that it meant a lot to my mother. The only negative was that my mother came down with a bad cough when she moved in to the Summer House. We thought it was something in the rug or cleaning products. Then my son noticed that the AC filter in the ceiling was filthy and clogged, once that was changed, she improved. But she needed a nebulizer for a few weeks and more medication which would have been unnecessary if they had been on top of maintenance.

Excellent Area for Young Business People

From what I can tell, it looks very nice so far and the plans look heavenly; however, there is a lot more work to do. I would be concerned about traffic if I were a future resident. The property located on the corner of Morris Road (lots of offices and a bus depot) and Webb Bridge (a residential one-lane street) that is already highly congested with three schools, two day cares, and one on the way (lots of school buses). Other than that, it's a great city, highway accessible, with lots of shops and entertainment in the area. The only downfall is the congested streets.

Great staff

I placed a 91 year old in the independent living section. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to assist in all requests we have made. The independent living cottages look a little shabby on the outside, but nothing a coat of paint won't fix. The only other criticism I can offer is the lack of a wide variety of activities. The activities tend to be the same thing all the time. A better variety is in order. All in all, this is a great place for your loved ones, that offers everything they need to live independently. When the time comes it is a easy transition to more advanced care.

Rooms were too small

I didn't like this as much as Marchbanks, the rooms were small and the common areas were just okay. It was primarily the smaller rooms and that it was more expensive which is why we didn't choose it.

Moved in one month ago

My wife and I moved into Village Park-Milton one month ago. The sales/pre-move experience was very pleasant and helpful. However, after the move in the real Village Park appeared. I am convinced ownership build a beautiful shell and then once in the real story emerges. I have been waiting four weeks for the technical (outsourced) staff to replace a faulty router (no one seems to manage this vendors). The support staff is fine, maybe understaffed (reaction time to calls for assistance is slow at times) but they get the job done. The amenities are acceptable but not great (Gym, outdoor pool). The achilles heel is the kitchen. The "specials" aren't, unless you order the specials the food delivery has taken 40 minutes. bottom line, the kitchen processes and food are almost unacceptable. The dining room is not vacuumed and open areas do not seem to be vacuumed daily. I can't tell if the issue is understaffing or profit!

Has Room For Improvement

The meals were fine, and lots of choices. Most of the food serving staff was incompetent. The care team had a mixture of very caring individuals, and unfortunately, very unprofessional individuals as well. If you had an emergency late at night, the staff would often not respond. One caregiver assigned to check high need individuals during the night, opened the room door, waved his hand, and left without even looking at the resident. We left Corso very disappointed.

Proceed with Caution

Let me preface by saying: my expectations were not high based on my experiences in the past, but my love one's chose this facility. Village Park is on it's third Director since October and has staffing and money issues, which they should not for the cost. Their care is not consistent or what they advertise. If you really need care, this is not the place for you. We have to remind them and push them for the care. The residents are lovely and very nice. Staff turnover is high, so it is hard to judge.
