I came here and what I put in her refrigerator a month ago is there now, when I opened the refrigerator the smell knocked me over. I figured over a months time the houskeeping would clean it or check it. So i will be bringing this up with them. The staff is okay, we asked her and she said they were good. She has a lot of clean clothes in the closet, it looks like she has everything she needs. I asked them if they could make her a beauty shop appointment and they did. Shes in some kind of memory program where she sits with ladies and does things, I got a call a couple of days ago saying how much they liked having her there. I've met 2 people that know her personally and the guy who sits at the front desk knows who she is so I think she's getting around.

A Non-Resident View of Bethany Retirement Community

The environment is not hectic. There is a quietness that may be especially facilitating for retirees who've had multiple years of deadlines to meet at work and bills to pay at home. The first floor has a spacious seating area along with a piano (that really works --- not just a show piece). A water fountain is not far from the piano. It may add a welcome quietude and gentleness to your spirit. Be sure to have a seat or take a leisurely walk in the outdoor garden. There are medical personnel in the building to assist the residents and a hospital is very close by. Security personnel are on duty 24/7. Do make BRC a must see in your search for a congenial retirement community.

Ellen’s Home

My mother was at Ellen’s for 2 weeks before she passed. The care was subpar, very inattentive staff. She was left on the toilet for an hour, we had to ask for food trays, water, a pack of crackers was on the floor the entire time spent there. The hospice staff was great. Would I recommend? If you can sit with your loved one 24/7 and over see the care and ask for what you need, then yes. If your loved one is mobile and alert with minimal health problems, then yes. I would not recommend for an ill person that needs help with day to day care.

The Decline of Foxes Grove .

Greystone purchased Foxes Grove Supportive Living and began managing the facility in January of 2020. Foxes Grove was known for it's beautiful yards and landscaping. We now see our greenery dying, no more flower watering, the beautiful fountain no longer has water in it, they are a very cheap company. We are not a nursing home, our meals are now of such poor quality, some unedible. We had wonderful meals before, we had snacks. We are only offered crackers and cheap food that is often expired. Our new mode of transportation to and from appointments is not meant for fragile seniors. The seats are very small with hard plastic seats, no cushioned seats, very high steps and not large enough for an outing that our contract says we would be offered. It has been hard to keep quality help since the have such a low payscale. We have had inadequate personnel at times, maybe two CNA's for two three story buildings. Do your homework before considering living here.

Not for us.

We were not impressed with River Valley Supportive Living. The community seemed to be quite with residents in their rooms. They did not offer specific memory care for their residents. It is a safe community everyone that comes in has to be let in but the anyone can walk out without being buzzed out. That made us nervous with our loved one possibly leaving without anyone knowing.

Nothing spectacular about it!

The community was very quiet and seemed to have a lack of energy. This community may be the right fit for less active residents. The dining room was like a schools cafeteria with nothing great about it. They had different layouts for the rooms but they were not as updated as we would like. The layout of the community had long hallways which could make it hard to get around the community.

Be informed of every aspect of this facility.

After living here for approximately three months I have yet to be served an appetizing or healthy meal. The food is so below par it's unbelievable. Their baked potatoes are not baked, they are steamed and hard, never hot. Hamburger is cold and disgusting. Dessert is that of a baby, Hello and pudding. Snacks are two types of packaged lunch cakes, the same two kinds ever since I've been here, chips or soda is paid for by you, there are no fresh fruits or vegetables served with meals, their canned. I ordered Broccoli and was served only the stems that were cut in cubes and boiled way too long. If this message is dead by the public, please check this out before signing in here.

I wish I would've had the foresight to see that this facility was not the right fit for my dad. They claim to serve people with dementia but we feel that they did not have the skill set to properly care for someone with dementia. There are certain techniques which should have been employed but they did not seem to understand that. We feel that it takes a special person to care for the elderly and we did not feel that some staff Members had what it takes . The caring attitude needs to start from the top and work its way down. We are giving two stars for the attractiveness of the facility and the good food they served.

Laid on Cold Floor All Night

On a March evening of this year, my mother got up to close her window, but fell instead. She had no call bell or necklace alert and laid in front of an open window on a cold floor all night, calling for help that did not arrive until 8 am. In the ER, she was assessed to have suffered a broken hip and was hypothermic to 95 degrees. She is almost 90.

My mother should never have gone through this

At High Point Germantown South, my mother was placed into Covid isolation, without symptoms, on [date removed]. She had a long-standing untreated UTI made much worse when almost no one came in to bring her food, water, or medications. She was bedridden after three days from leg pain. My sisters and I were not allowed by the healthcare director to visit or even talk to her on the phone but assured daily by staff she was up and about and doing well. In the ER on [date removed], my mother thought she would die from the dehydration and the leg pain and she was hospitalized for this. From this ordeal, she basically lost the ability to walk.

Disappointing

Having my mom move into a senior living facility to ensure her safety, happiness, daily cares, daily socialization and activities, healthy meals, medication management, & a clean, cheerful living environment is the upmost importance for my sister & I, while also providing us a huge weight off our shoulders as it was constant worry and stress while she was living alone at home, needing more & more assistance through the day to take care of herself. This facility has made us feel as if our mom is not receiving the care expected & promised for how much she is paying each month. We spend more time having to help her and tidy up her room appropriately than we do being able to visit with her. During the day, activities continue to provide the bare minimum activities that are the same every week, every month. The food more often than not isn’t easily editable for my mother, who has dentures. It’s also often bare minimum lacking quality daily nutrients that are so important for the elderly.

I am disappointed in the care my good friend received while here. They are short staffed and simply can’t provide the care that residents deserve . They also started and spread false rumors which caused division between loved ones during an already very emotional time.

There has to be a better place for your loved one

My mother and father in law moved to Ellen's Home South in 2021 and there have been issues from day one. The tour is great and the director promises many things but the place just doesn't deliver. The nurse/director supposedly trains the pca/cnas/and medication aides but when 4 aides didn't know how to use a hoyer lift, which the facility provides, that's an issue. Expect long call wait times: my loved one was on the floor after falling for over an hour before the light was answered. Infection control: what's that:? CDC c-diff guidelines are gown, glove: they just wear gloves. Activities: movies. The staff act like it's an inconvenience to ask them for anything: 4 staff and 2 residents were watching TV how dare I interrupt them to put my loved one on the toilet. Both loved ones got butt ulcers. The staff don't wear name tags or introduce themselves so when there is a problem t's hard to find out who was involved. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! I could go on but am limited to 1000 words.
