The staff turnover at Silver Leaf is unacceptable. And meals are not well balanced. There are too many carbs, not enough vegetables, and quality is poor.

It is a beautiful facility. It is kept clean. It is quiet. If your loved one just needs a nice place to age in place and has minimal health challenges and not a need to be overly social, it might be the right place. However, if your family member has complicated medical needs and/or high social needs, this would not work. The amount of activity is minimal. The medical knowledge is minimal and the staff is not proactive when medical issues arise. There is a communication challenge with most of the staff, the staff changes often, and the staff sleeps on sight so are not easily available overnight unless you provide a doorbell for them to use for your family member. The family member is safe and the staff are respectful. The food was not as tasteful as expected.

we are having some issues with the pricing - we were told one pricing but when our loved one moved in the price completely changed.

We talked with Avendelle and were interested in the facility but there were no openings. By the time they called us that something was available, we were already going through the paperwork with another facility.

If your family member is mobile, it would be a good place. If your loved one needs additional assistance, then Avendelle isn't the place for your loved one. The room was nice, spacious, and has a walk-in shower. The room was kept very clean.

I thought the staff did a good job and genuinely cared for residents. I thought the management did not do a good job and the ownership could be better. We chose this community because they had availability and the proximity to our home was close. I would not recommend this community to other families.

Very nice, clean home. The attendant, Isabel, was very helpful. This was the first property visited as I am at the start of my search. Not many activities scheduled. At 3:30 pm only one lady was in the living area watching tv. Everyone else was in their rooms. So quiet! Surprised that the only time food was prepared was in the mornings. Lunch and dinner are brought in. Maybe this is usual? Lovely backyard and nice sized patio. I hope things are a little more lively in the evenings but [name removed] did say that after dinner everyone pretty much goes to their rooms to stay. I like that there are usually two attendants on hand. The main one was on a pharmacy run so only met the one.

I had a short call with this community, to see if they would be able to accommodate us in a short time period. The community seemed nice, but they were not as helpful as I would had liked. I did find another community that was able accommodate us in the short time period I had to make my decision.

Rooms very small for one person, two would not work.

The tour went well. They answered all my questions. The community was clean and neat and the residents were out and about. I just felt like they mislead me. I explained my situation to them and they still went forward. It just was not the right place for my mother in law.

Peggy would have to share a bathroom. Real wooden floors in need of TLC. Other residents include some women Peggy might enjoy. Price was higher than expected.

During my tour this looked like a clean care home. I did not feel it would be social enough for my mom. This community just did not feel like a good fit. The staff I met were nice. I would recommend speaking with the residents and their families to get a good feel for a place.

We had a mixed experience with the community. The facility itself is beautiful, well kept, and clean, and the staff members are all very friendly and hardworking. However, I think my loved one's care needs were a bit more than they were able to handle and she ended up having a medical emergency. They were trying their best, but I would be sure that your loved one is a good fit carewise before placing them here.

The house my father was in was very nice and clean. The meals were nutritious and good. The caregivers were very efficient to keep the house clean and laundry done. They were nice to the clients who were mostly cooperative. What I came to realize with my father was that the caregivers did not seem to be educated or trained to take care of people with alzheimer disease, although I was assured that this was something they could and did handle daily. There was usually 2 caregivers at the house. When I was looking for a place for my father and found this place, I was told that there were always 2 caregivers there. I was told that at night 1 caregiver stayed awake. I didn't think this situation through, because it is very difficult to cook and clean and help the residents 24 hours a day without sleep! The real situation was that the caregivers planned on and intended to sleep. Therefore, it was a problem for them when my dad did not stay in his room at night. I wish that I had chosen a different place for him. In fairness to the owner and operator of North Texas Personal Care Homes, I never approached the owner with my concerns. I was frantically looking for another place better suited to care for my father. Unfortunately, he died after being there only 6 weeks before I could find another place.

This place was a nice homey place. If you had a fully cognizant person just needing assistance, this would be a low cost alternative to a facility. HOWEVER, this is NOT the place for anyone with memory care issues!

Home with up to 10 people, all medical services are brought in-home health, PT, podiatry, doctors, X-rays, blood work, etc. also has lift for complete wheelchair transfer. Cost = $4,700-$4,900

Manager is a nice guy; former PT; lives and coaches baseball in Allen; residents don't get out much. Doctor once a month; caregivers been there 5 - 6 years each; $3200 - $3600

Location was perfect, caretakers were wonderful, but room available was too small for our needs.
