Being an RN we are very familiar with this type of work and they could really just wok to improve on their personal nursing care. They do not engage or interact with the residents, they just come into the rooms drop of the medication and leave, or they drop of the food and leave. They don't wake up our loved one when things get dropped off. They ahve slow response times to when our loved needs assistance or when our family calls - they never return calls.

Our mother was a Memory Care resident at the Sheridan from [date removed]. The facility itself is beautiful but the care can only be categorized as over-promised and under-delivered. Staff turnover was a constant and their reliance upon agency nursing created an atmosphere of instability for the residents under their care. In February a new nursing staff was hired in hopes of bringing about change but it became clear that the care program is not up to the standards of the industry for the price of residency. The cleanliness of the units were too often lacking and cleanliness of my mother's daily attire and physical appearance was disheartening for our family to witness. Our experience with the Sheridan at Oakbrook was not a good one and our recommendation is to closely vet and compare care facilities so as not to be fooled by pretty surroundings and shallow promises.

I showed up for my tour and it took a while to get anyone's attention. I walked the hallways and there was no one around to help me, even though my tour was scheduled. From a security standpoint this worried me and it was off the list immediately. I did not get the warm fuzzies from them.

The day to day staff and aids were wonderful they really tried their best but with the lack of medical processionals there did show - they needed to do more for the residents but they did always shower and keep our loved one clean. The administration team was where we had our issues - we felt they were not upfront with us when explaining charges, we felt each time we got a bill it was different

The food is not good. When we were touring, they said the chef was wonderful and provided wonderful meals cooked there on-site. But really the food is frozen meals that are brought in and microwaved. They only have ice cream for dessert, nothing else. The carpet is old and dirty. The cleaning staff does not empty the trash in the rooms like they said they would. If my loved one pushes her call button, it usually takes them a long time to respond. The staff are very friendly and say they'll get right on anything you bring to their attention. But then they don't do what they say they will.

My loved one was in the skillet Nursing facility for a short stay prior to having to be hospitalized. Covid infection is high.There,re some staff that don't care at all some CNAs were rude & disrespectful to the pt & families. The Director of Nursing was unprofessional careless didn't seem to know what is going on The corporation is saving money by hiring Agency employees however they were nicer, Nurses were very nice The skilled nursing would be better if they hired more compassionate, respectful Team player CNA There has been times that I heard residents calling for help outside the parking. Call light never answer by the staff in timely matter. There is a lack of communication between the staff & family The staff have no team work. The social worker seems to be running the facility without support from higher up she seems overwhelmed. Don’t discuss any concerns staff while love one there to avoid retaliation. if you’re ok w no team work, lack of compassion/RudeCNA. This’s it

I would not recommend the memory care unit at Addington Place. The lack of concern, care, and staff communication is very concerning to me. I have seen residents requesting assistance and the staff being on their phones and ignoring them. I feel like the staff don't care about my concerns. I've tried speaking with the administrator and have not heard back from them about my concerns, and this is alarming to me. I have asked the head nurse and administrator why the phones are allowed on the floor, and was told that the video camera the community have, have not worked in a long time so there is no way to regulate it. The staff refuses to assist the residents with their meals. There was no list of care needs that Addington Place would take care of for my loved one. I'm disappointed with the State of Michigan as well, as they don't regulate the actual care needs that need to be met for the residents to be in the community's care. Sandwiches, jello, pudding, french fries, chicken and more are some examples of items being served to the residents for meals. I'm not seeing any residents that have dietary restrictions be met with different food options such as soft foods only, pureed diet, etc. They have a staff member that is good at participating with the residents in activities. Arts and crafts, games, exercises, and more are some examples of activities for the residents to participate in. This is an area I feel the community excels in.

The residents in the memory care unit were low functioning and it was not a good fit for our loved one.

The internet and TV service currently provided is very poor.

This is FACT! Pertains to the Sheridan at Tyler Creek Elgin Illinois facility. My stepmother was given a shower, at the family's request, on [date removed]. The next shower she received was also at the family's request. This shower was given to my Stepmother on [date removed]. Simple math indicates an 8-9 day span between showers. FACT: Her hair is filthy dirty FACT: Her nails are filthy dirty FACT: She is constantly scratching her head and vaginal areas (I believe this may be because she is incontinent and lacks the ability to take a bath or shower without assistance)

Older facility, no one bedroom apartments, no assisted living .

I would want others to know that we have not had a positive experience. In the 10 months we have been here, we have yet to receive a correct bill. Management at all levels have not returned calls, emails, or any form of communication. We have had bad experience with the aids multiple times not following doctors orders. On the good side, the food is fantastic. They have a chef from a local restaurant and the food is delicious. The maintenance staff and technical support team of gentleman has also been terrific. But overall, I would not recommend until serious changes are made.

There are many comments about being understaffed. I agree, there is not a lot of the appropriate level of staffing to support the amount of people who live here. They rely on CNAs who are fresh out of school and really don't have enough training. I believe the staff is caring, but not capable. The value for the money is not there. They raise rates annually, however changes that occur are often to make things cheaper for the company. The biggest example is the food. The food options are unhealthy, do not fit the dietary needs of 90% of the residents, and quite frankly not much better than a cafeteria in a hospital. I have observed lack of fresh fruit, water and sodium soaked ham, heavy gravy, heavy cheese, etc... None of the food is good for a diabetic or cardiac patient. The facility is unwilling to listen to the residents or family members. They have a "resident advisory committee" however the sole purpose is for the various directors to tell people what is going on. They do not allow feedback and if it is given they say thank you and that is the last it is ever heard. I am also disappointed in the transportation services at the facility. When we toured we were told that it was available daily, but the reality is that it is only available Tuesday and Thursday first come first serve. My mother has had to pay for rides to doctor's appointments because the bus is too full for hair appointments off site. I am also concerned about my mother's safety on the bus. There have been numerous accidents where patients in wheelchairs were not properly secured and had been tossed to the floor. This has happened on a couple of occasions. The driver has not been disciplined to my knowledge. I have also found that my mother is out of medication and has to wait the weekend because they are not getting delivery until Monday. I find this unacceptable, and we are filing a complaint with the state. With the new increase, I continue to question what I am paying for. My mother complains regularly about the food, that some of the nurses are mean (though the turn over in nurses is about 200% - so typically resolves quickly), and the lack of things to do. Overall the staff is friendly, and my mother is aware enough to make appropriate choices and prevent things. I just questions her staying here based on the issues I have seen.

They were not expecting us. Didn't know about our appt. Cannot handle diabetes patients with insulin and does not "spend down". Not a great first experience with mom. She also explained how expensive it was to us. I wished she'd not gone there since money is a topic I just can't have mom be a part of.

While the location and facility were in good condition, the contact was not on the property when we arrived; though we waited a short while, we had to leave due to something that sprung up. We didn't hear from the contact until nearly an hour later; at which time he claimed that "you" neglected to inform him that I was coming. Highly doubtful considering the other two locations not only acknowledged me upon my stating my name, but knew "you" had recommended us; they even knew my uncle by name. At least the receptionist was pleasant. Honestly have no desire to return.

My grandmother has lived at Sheridan for several months. She needs help and other is left not being helped. Her room smells of urine constantly and the staff simply tells me that they will take care of but the odor is always there. I am concerned about the leadership especially the [Removed] she seems to not care about my grandmother.

My mother moved in to the assisted living part of this facility and walked out the door on to a 4 lane busy street (McLean Ave) and almost was run over. She now lives in the memory care section that is locked. She gets no physical therapy or speech therapy as was promised by staff. The staff promise thing they cannot deliver.
