What may look ok;will change

High employee turnover;and staffing shortages.Rented the most expensive unit;on end of bldg, with large empty lot next door. That lot was sold by owners;before we arrived;but we were not informed.Soon there was a strip mall;and Mcdonalds;with all the dust and noise;for months. Now the entrance became a roadway for locals to get to strip mall;often at high speeds..Finally fencing it off,but really over a year too late to keep us there

Promised But Not Received

I would not recommend Shell Harbor to anyone. We were sold a bill of goods that hasn't been delivered upon, as it was advertised as a resort style living, and it definitely is not. We were told that we would fine dining service and food, and we are getting cafeteria food instead. The food is below par, as it is made for residents that are 55 plus with medical needs and dietary restrictions. We are seeing people leaving as it wasn't what was promised to them. The rent is been raised [removed]%. The new resident managers are very young, and they are doing the best they can do. They are very kind, friendly, and nice. Their hands are tied by RLC in making any changes.

Disappointed

Had an issue with the waitlist standby process for different type of room. Did NOT happen the way it was explained to us multiple times. They just recently added an additional trash can in each area so the cans don't overflow onto the floors. The food is NEVER hot...barely even room temperature. Complaints made and they either can't or won't fix the problem

Chartiers Bend Retirement Resort review

There is no insulation between the floors so everything that is happening above you, you can hear everything. The staff were wonderful to work with, they were attentive to the issues I had and tried to be very accommodating. I loved the community other than that, and the food was amazing.

We loved the Lifestyle Director

Me and my husband came into the community last week, and we just loved the energy of the Lifestyle Director, she was so helpful and the residents really seem to love her too. [Name removed] was standoffish when we started asking questions about certain things , like she was occupied with something else. We would love to come back if there was someone else there doing tours.

Extremely Disappointing

The direct staff interactions are great. The managers are not as pleasing to work with. My loved ones are moving out of the community. Everything was good, food was very good at the start of their saving. My loved ones were promised room service 24/7 and this isn't been done. Due to COVID the community is blaming the fact they can't do certain follow through. The food is horrible at the community, except on Sunday when they have a prime rib buffet. I've made complaints and nothing is ever done with this by management.

Not a good place if you are elderly - Seriously!

If you are elderly and have any ailments or plan to grow older DO NOT go here. Maybe it was once a compassionate and well run place but not since the new manager came in. It gradually declined and has continued to do so. Many of the staff have left (those that were professional).

I would tell others who are looking into this community that you should try the food before you move, when they first started it was fine but the chef left and it hasn't been the same the food is very salty. I would not recommend the community.

They need some improvement!!

My loved one is doing well since her move to Savannah Pines. I think that when new residents move in, the walls of the apartment should be painted if they have flaws. Also, most of the woodwork is chipped. The meals are very good my loved one is pleased with them. For a while. the dishes were kind of dirty but enough residents brought up the problem so they seem to be improving, My loved one enjoys the activities and other people living there.

Don't Believe Them

We were residents at PC for two years = at which time the home office, Resort Lifestyle Communities, hired a live-in couple as managers. Both husband and wife were heavy smokers. Our lease which stated it was a non-smoking community was totally ignored, and the managers kept smoking in their apartment. Due to my oxygen use and other medical conditions, we were forced to move. These people present themselves as pious, caring, loving people- both locally and at the headquarters level. Take it with a grain of salt! It doesn't matter what your lease says, they will do what they please.

Renter Beware - do place loved ones in Huntley Springs

Do not put a loved one in this place - Resort?? Hardly. There has been a major change in staff over the last few weeks. The manager is gone, the chef is gone, the housekeepers are gone, as well as the arrows for social distancing! There has not been a maid service for over 2 weeks. Residents are sleeping on the same sheets and are unable to clean their bathrooms. This "resort" is over 4K a month. They should be ashamed of themselves, this is bordering on elder abuse. There is a reason we go into an "resort", we want to enjoy the time remaining and dearly need the services offered - Items on the menu are missing, maybe they went out with the caring staff that were all let go. Do not let anyone move in until services are restored.

Do Your Homework before moving here

My parents moved to Red Hills about three and a half years ago. It was the best place in town then but has continued to go downhill. The food was good initially but has continually gone downhill since. Many residents complain about it but nothing changes. The home office sent a manager down a few weeks ago and he stayed in his laptop computer all the time and didn’t even attend the community meeting to hear complaints about food and other problems. My mom’s apartment is so bad she has to keep Damp Rid bags in both closets to keep the moldy musty smells out. Her neighbor has the same problem as I’m sure many more do as well. They have no seated service dining even though they have said for three years they were going back to that. They force all these folks, many of whom have walkers or wheel chairs to go through a buffet line and carry their own trays to their table. They have one maintenance man for the entire property and he can’t keep up with all the issues.

A terrible experience

Do not be fooled by the beautiful grounds. The terrible management erases anything positive about this place. I just moved my mother out after four months because of a series of negative interactions with staff. 1). Management would walk into her apartment without knocking or without prior notice. Naturally, this is a huge invasion of privacy, and she was genuinely frightened that someone random was going to walk in at any given time. 2). Her “housekeeper” actually told her that she was also a realtor, and she took my mother off grounds to look at houses. She had her “attorney cousin” get my mother’s bank info so they could see if they could sell her a house. My mother was afraid for this housekeeper to return to her apartment. 3). When we moved in, my mother was told to select a paint color because they had to paint in between tenants. Now that we have moved out, they have charged her $[removed] for the shade of white she chose. I could go on. The grounds are pretty. People awful.

Make sure you understand exactly the operation of this facility. My wife and I visited Pebble Springs in Lady Lake Fl. in August of 2023. Our experience started off well until we signed a rental agreement. We felt pressured into to signing a contract as the sales person kept saying how they were filling up fast with people moving in. We signed the contract (rental agreement), paid $[removed] upfront to cover security deposit, rental and other fees but we kept thinking that maybe we acted too quickly. We called them within 18 hours of signing the contract and talked to the sales people and asked for a refund but we are told it is not their decision. They have referred us to a person called [name removed] but we can’t seem to get him to call us back. We are posting this to let people know to be “very careful” when dealing with the company that runs Pebble Springs. If we can get a positive resolution from this company we will post it here.

Traumatized

Horrifying experience here. Got thrown out the front door for bringing in my 4 LB. Yorkie in my backpack to visit my mom. Im 62 and The worst part is, my poor special needs brother was trying to hold her and didn't understand the dog needed to be " hidden" from a dog hating resident. They ([name removed]) lie to get you in, tell you its fine to bring the dog in, then tell you that you are "breaking the rules" . Nothing in writing! I was traumatized incredibly. My 87 yr old mother is sick over this and we are moving her out as fast as we can. They were NEVER clear on the "rules", nothing in writing. The corporate site says small dogs welcome. I was able to sit in the dining room with my 4 LB Yorkie in a stroller, with sales manager [name removed] blessing. Then they tell me on wed that only service dogs with papers can come in. Of course this rule just happened to go into place. The day before, [name removed] told us they were having meetings to explain to the residents why emotional support dogs were fine

Life at Red Rock Canyon Retirement

I live here andI am telling all retired people : I am so disappointed living here the things they promise are not here! We do not feel safe, we do not have activities as promised, things that are not working are not fixed, and we are going to move out! For example: today is friday and no one is in charge til ? No one can help us and the gates are open and we are not secure. We moved here for safety and like companship. We are not getting what we signed up for and we are paying [amount removed] a month.

Look elsewhere

My mother has been living at Robinwood for 4 years. At first this was a lovely place. Food was good, activities etc. It has totally gone downhill. The food is horrible, bad managers that have since been fired. Hopefully new managers will be better. If things do not change, especially the food, we will be finding a new home for my mom. If you’re looking right now I would look elsewhere. I ‘m going to give staff a 5 since bad management is gone. Everyone is friendly it’s more that the food is horrible.

BAIT AND SWITCH

Family members residing at Capital Oaks. Amenities were at time of contract Shuttle free for appts and shopping excursions, 5 days a week. If unavailable Uber available at cost to Capital Oaks. Shuttle now very limited for appts; not 5 days a week. Uber cost now on occupant not Capital Oaks. A professional chef supposed to provide meals. Line cooks cooking. Meals are very small in quantity and disgusting. Leftover food rebranded into a “new” meal several times a week. This is not the food described in their brochure or menus from a professional chef. 3 options available for dining service to include delivered to room on china with silverware in uniformed server. (Notice brochure online). Meals delivered in styrofoam and even contained flies in meals. Dish TV service is out with every cloud that passes overhead. Prices raised $500/mo this past year, yet services have diminished or remained the same. Understand a new Capital Oaks in area just opening. Buyer be ware!

Management problems

After the many communication issues with management, I moved just a few months after moving into Vickery Rose Retirement in Roswell GA. The issues were constant and my family grew frustrated quickly with the management. My place was not cleaned for several weeks after moving in because they "forgot to add me to the list" and the washer and dryer that were promised to me in my contract were not delivered until right before I moved out. These are just two examples of many communication issues. It is poorly managed.
