The biggest problem is the food. It has gone downhill in the time we have lived here. The management is less than ideal. We have monthly meetings to make suggestions, air grievances, etc. We have been told, “If you don’t like it…move! That is awful!! The folks who clean the rooms don’t do a very good job. We are afraid to complain, because we would be told to move. We have been told that we cannot have soda machines…”That comes from corporate”. However, we have been told that other RLC properties have them.

The residents at the community receive a 5, they were great but at the time based on the experience we would not recommend the River Valley Retirement Community to others

Overall I would recommend Parkside Village Retirement Resort. The community is very friendly. Although transportation sucks, and the food is mediocre.

I picked this community, because they offer 3 meals per day. The salad bar is very good. The experience with the community is good. I like the rooms, walk in closet, and the garage is available for rent. It is a little expensive but most places I looked at were also expensive. With three meals per day not much additional expenses.

When I moved here 6 months ago DS had an executive chef and the food was great. About 2 months into my move it seemed like a bait and switch. The chef left, and was never replaced. The result was food was so bad it made hospital food taste like gourmet. I either had to dump it, doctor it or gag on it. This place is not inexpensive and a significant amount of $$ goes toward your food. You pay for 3 meals whether you eat one or three. The deli sandwiches contain gray meat and the pb&j sandwiches might have 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter at best. There is now a replacement chef but if you want what is on the menu you need to get in line early because it will be gone 45 minutes before the dinner hour is over. They prepare only so many entrees and that is it. Salad bar is hit or miss. I've seen the same cucumber salad served 4 days in a row. Desserts are good and so is the coffee. Very overpriced place for what you receive. Don't believe the promo pics.

My favorite activities are the card games Hand, Knee and Foot and Mexican Train. We have Bingo and Bridge as well. I like going to the Hale Theatre in Gilbert for plays. I would like to see trips to Chandler Center for the Arts come back!

The staff is great. The residents (for the most part) are wonderful! We picked this community because, this was the best. However the food is awful! Also, the apartment was new! No one lived in it before!

II think Cactus Valley is a very friendly community. However, they have constant staff turnover. The buffet dining has long lines sometimes, medium quality good. Pricey yearly increases.

Quarry Ridge was too much luxury and service. It felt oppressive. The community was pretty aggressive in its marketing. They were trying to sell us on services we didn't need. They put a time clock on getting a grand opening deal which I didn't appreciate. The only day to get the discount was a day when I was out of the country.

My loved one really had the wool pulled over his eyes. What they show is not what they get! We were shown around on a celebration day, great meal wonderful entertainment. Once moved in we find out its less than mediocre. Long lines at meals, food is ok if you like pork chop jerky and rice. Employees are not respected by the manager which leads to a quick turnaround. Sad to say hook line and sinker we were bought what the lady sold us only to see that it's not what ya get... renter beware!!!

They could have better quality meals, sometimes they are good and others not so much so could work on their consistency. However I would still recommend this community to other families.

We toured Capital Oaks, and it felt very stiff. It did not feel like a warm place. I certainly not pleased with the units that they showed us. And I was not really pleased with the dining setup. It was cafeteria-style dining. They do have sit-down, but I don’t think they’re encouraging that. And for people with walkers and disabilities, that just doesn’t work.

The managers are not very friendly. They do not know our names. The other 4 managers always knew our names. The food is not great.

Some things we used to enjoy have been eliminated. The food is fairly good. So far, the new managers are not very friendly with the residents.

This community was nice but the room sizes were very small and I wanted something bigger.

We chose Red Rock Pointe because their contract was not super binding which we liked. The apartment sizes at the facility are very large and spacious. The only problems my parents have with the facility is that their food is not served at their table, they are supposed to go serve themselves cafeteria style which is hard for my dad. So it would be more helpful if they were able to serve the food to the residents. They seem to be short staffed ever since the pandemic. Overall I would recommend to others looking.

We were not able to get well acquainted with the staff before they changed, but the ones we did meet were nice. We thought it was a pretty expensive community. We had a three bedroom apartment so we have plenty of space. The food was okay, they tried their best but the food was very predictable, but they did have a nice Sunday brunch.

One thing that we have noticed with this community is that the staff does not really communicate with us when things have changed. We find out things after the fact, and it is just not as good as it should be. There also is not much diversity in this community, we would say it is a zero. We do like the layout, the rooms are adequate they give you plenty of space. As far as the overall layout, every thing is easily accessible which makes it really nice.

They keep the community spaces and dinning room clean, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The dinning room staff are outstanding. The management seems like they might have some trouble being completely transparent at time. Just because of the Covd-19 pandemic and community lock down, there haven't been many actives. With that said, the activities they do offer seem like they would be a better fit for those who are less active or mobile.

The food is not good. We have a new chef, things started off good but not really that good now. It has really changed in the last few years. They are taking folks with higher care needs. This is an Independent community and it feels more like Assisted Living. I like the staff. I like the layout.I have a deck on my unit. The location is wonderful, close to everything.
