A Nice Place Overall

They are very friendly staff at The Gardens at Jackson Creek and they really do seem to care about the residents. I think the facility could be more user-friendly, it is not really set-up for the elderly. Overall though it is a nice place.

I Like my apt with windows and a tree in front to make it feel secluded. The water is off for repairs about once a week. Apts get refurbished when turned over but the building exteriors get no attention so looks a bit shabby. Only two maintenance workers. There is NO Security. No one in authority around after five o'clock weekdays or on weekends except one on Sat morning. Likewise the Host building isn't open after five and weekends so services there like the exercise room, game room and laundry are not available. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere and quiet. I wish there were garages or at least carports due to Summer sun and winter snow/ice/cold. They are not fully occupied. If a renovation could be done to move occupants out of the first floor and convert the first floor apts to garages it could meet that critical need.

The friendliness of the staff is getting better. There are many repairs that are needing to be done to the building, and they could also have additional activities and bus trips. With the improvements they are making it could definitely be a better experience.

Stay Away

Accepting under. 55 and section 8. Parking lots need to be repaired. Holes in walls. Dirty. Unfriendly office. Lots of large dogs. Little to no security. Unsafe place to live for seniors. Horrible ramps in the hallways making it hard for walkers and wheelchairs. No cameras to film cars being broke in to.

Nope!

Toured recently 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment -- long halls smelled so heavily of smoke. Smoking allowed in individual apartments, but not in common areas -- how does one confine the smell? Not an inviting atmosphere. Looks tired inside. Closets small, lack of natural light (windows) makes room dark-looking. Kitchen cabinets looked "tired". Nope, not what I'm looking for.

Not an active community

While looking into various options for my mother we toured this property. We saw that the place did not have a kitchen. The staff would order from a nearby restaurant and bring it in for residents to eat at a certain time. The place was more like senior apartments. What we didn’t like is that the people living there were not up and about. My mother was looking for a more socialization kind of environment. This was the reason that we did not move forward to select this location.

Not a place for my MOM

The facility is very nice. They bring the food into the facility from another location so it's not cooked fresh. They charge $8.00 per meal and you have to give them plenty of notice if you aren't going to be there. Moving in and out is difficult as everything has to be taken up on one of two elevators the residents have to use. They have a ton of rules here and you need to read your contract carefully. There are as many folks moving out as moving as this is just an apartment building. There is no one on site in case of a fall in the evening or at night. If you get locked out of your apartment it will cost you $25.00 for them to open your door for you. You must have a card key to get into the building so it can be difficult for late afternoon or evening visitors to get in. I felt the staff was eager to get us signed up, but very uppity after that. This is a nice place, but not necessarily a friendly place. I would not recommend this location if you are a fall risk or handicapped in any way. There is no one here to help you, unless you want to pay for home health. It is independent living only.

I toured this community

The staff was helpful and nice and answered all of my questions. It was clean and nice looking. They didn't have near the amenities that other places have. They don't have a kitchen so they order food out daily and every meal. Overall it was way more expensive for what they have to offer.

Just Don’t

You don’t want your mother or yourself living at this rundown trash heap! It’s nothing like it was 3 years ago. When Peak Living Management bought the place it’s gone straight downhill. Their having so much trouble renting that anyone at any age is moving in and the older people who can afford it are running out of here. The place is filthy and bedbugs run rapid through the place. This is not a place to sit back and enjoy your retirement years. All the pictures you see on site are 20 yrsold. No beauty shop ,half the machines in gym are broken and the kitchen can’t pass health code and every month management throws a cake party for all the diabetic people and the bus is going on 18 years and when it goes their won’t be another! Be forewarned!

Peak Living is the owner manager. They were not fixing anything in the seniors apt. Myself and other residents had reached out to local state federal agencies. They are now fixing everything. Please do not send anyone here.
