Satisfied overall

Overall we're satisfied with our experience at Brookdale Delta. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and the people who work here do their best to help the residents. I do think they could stand to add a few more people to the staff for some additional hands-on help, but generally we are satisfied.

Review for Maple Heights Retirement Community

The woman who did the initial intake process was great but she was not honest about how the transportation worked. When I reached out, she never responded. It may me feel as though it was a "money grab" as opposed to having the patient's interest as the most important thing. Thankfully the front desk staff was really nice. Overall I was happy with the accommodations and it proved to be a nice transition from the hospital prior to my sister going home permanently. I did recommend the facility to others for temporary, short term respite care. I cautioned them to be mindful of the young lady though. I'm not even sure if she is still there or not. I didn't appreciate being lied to and certainly didn't appreciate not receiving a response when I reached out again.

Review for Care Cardinal Belmont

Care Cardinal was bought out around the time that we moved my mom. The place we had planned to move her to, was closed and so we ended up at another place which gave her adequate care. I was frustrated that in a few days time we were told yes and then we were told no. We moved her into another one of their places which was a long drive for me. I had been looking for some place close. So it was a hard move, hard on my mom and hard on me but mom adjusted and so did I. The care was ok. I see problems with most places although that care for memory care patients. I hear so many frustrations. I found there were good people working there and that is what I choose to focus on. My mom was content and she also had hospice care which gave a higher level of care for her than I think she would have had with just the place she was at.

Nice facility

Our biggest issues have been with getting her billing correct and at times they've only had 1 person on staff. Staff is very nice. We like that it is smaller, more personalized and cleaner than other facilities we looked at.

Review for Maple Heights Retirement Community

We picked this community because it was clean, and close by. My loved one wasn't happy there. I wouldn't recommend it. One huge problem is that many of the staff on their independent nursing floor are mean. Yes, mean. Shouldn't be in that position.

Disappointed

They sold me on Medicaid waiver and I told them how much my loved one made and they acted like they did not know the finances of Medicaid waiver which shocked me. I thought they would be on top of that sine they are a facility that takes Medicaid. I did have to move my loved one out of here due to that.

The Feeling Is Not Bright

On my tour I saw a dark, dingy and very old community. I was shown a mode room. There was mold in the bathroom and the mirror was falling apart. I was taken back and not satisfied.

Time for a Remodel!

I was able to take a tour of the community and I must say that they need a remodel. The apartments were nice and looked like they had been remodeled, but the rest of the community was falling apart. The hallways were bad and so were the doors.

Seemed nice enough

We took a tour of this community. I didn't have much to compare it to, but it seemed like a nice enough place and the tour was informative and professional. It was well kept and clean, and I liked the circular layout. It did not seem very culturally diverse, however, and I was afraid my loved one might feel a little isolated here.

A lot of ways they could improve

I haven't been overly impressed with Sterling House so far, there is a lot I would like to see them improve. The staff are friendly for the most part, but there are a few employees who are not so friendly. They also just feel understaffed in general, so response times and meal service can be slow. The meals themselves are hit or miss in terms of quality and nutrition, and since they are prepared in the facility next door and then brought over Mom said she and the other residents feel like they are getting the leftovers. Mom also has not been able to get the range of therapy that she thought she could.

Not very good care. Residents were lost for long periods of time.

The memory care unit did not have enough help also because the memory unit was so large residence will get lost and could not be found for long periods of time. I believe for the car take care could have been better. I ended up moving my loveone because it was not a good fit for the price I was paying.

our families experience

The employees are all very nice, but they don't have enough staff to care for the residents are they should be care for. Every time I go to visit, my mom has grease hair and she stinks. I have to brush her teeth and her partial, as it always has food in it. I also like that they have exercise classes for them

Too Massive

I toured Brookdale while helping a friend find a place. I felt that the community was too massive and too institutional. I knew that it just would not be a good fit for my friend, so we continued looking at other communities.

Not Happy

I have been very unhappy with my experience at Brookdale. This facility, in my opinion, is not trained to take care of dementia patients. You have to talk to dementia patients differently, you cannot tell them they know better because if they did they wouldn't be where they are, you dont argue with them, they don't know the difference, you have to have patience. I am moving my husband within the next few weeks. The caregivers are expected to do too many different jobs therefore cannot take proper care of the residences. My husband needs completed care, he cannot walk, talk, (he is in a lift that needs two people to put him in it) and last night it took two aids almost an hour to toilet him and get him down to supper, The facility was short staffed last night which is the norm, therefore other residents not getting the help needed. I could go on and on but enough said. Thank You
