I would want other families to know when looking into Pacifics senior Living that they need to beware. On the surface it looked great, but then it all changed. I witnessed staff members stealing, the medicines were all messed up, residents were screaming and crying, they ran out of food, and some of the staff members were borderline abusive to the residents. Many people took their loved ones out of this facility during our stay there.

If you are thinking of placing your loved one at Pacifica please read this review! I hope to save families from the heartbreak we have had endured! I don’t even know where to start. My sweet 96-year-old grandmother has endured bedbugs, filth and complete isolation. Not to mention the fact that the Pacifica staff never once let us know that my grandma was going downhill fast. We were not allowed in or out of Pacifica since Covid started. We had to read in the newspaper that there had been several deaths in Pacifica and we were not notified that they were testing my grandmother weekly for Covid. Do you want to know how it got into Pacifica? The staff was going out in groups not wearing facemasks and brought it in!These pictures were taken today as we moved my grandmother out of her room, she has only been in this room around six months (she got moved due to bed bugs)! She was completely confused and really wasn’t comforted as she had to move rooms! Absolutely disgusting.....she is completely blind and lives in an “assisted living”.... does this look like to you that someone took care of her? She was found unresponsive last week and upon her arrival at the hospital the social worker noted that she was completely filthy and her diaper had not been changed in some time! I’m absolutely heartbroken and disgusted! A staff member mentioned they noticed a decline in her health. We had absolutely no idea, because we were not permitted to go in due to the virus. Why would you not even let a family know about this? I feel that they are completely shady and I could go on and on. Numerous members of our family have been treated poorly by the staff of Pacifica as well! Please save your loved one from being mistreated! At first my mother settled in all seemed well but shortly there after items of clothing and bedding began missing , I myself replaced 3 expensive pillows and sets of expensive sheets. Never once was any items returned . About a year in morale problems presented themselves to the point many patients on my mothers floor were leaving . My mother had a button to push when in need of help, average response time was inadequate over 30 minutes in most cases but many were never answered at all which they blamed on staffing which meant there wasn't an adequate number of employees on duty especially in the evening. When questioning employees about this problem some were actually hateful and resentful that you would dare bring this up. So in an emergency situation you could be left out in the cold. Food early on was good but shortly there after many lay offs in the kitchen personal for reasons unknown the food turned to outrageously terrible ,you wouldn't give it to a dog and I doubt a dog would eat it! I removed my mother almost two years ago to my own home and she regained a lot of her health back but as of lately Pioneer House has been contacting us saying we owe them thousands of dollars of unpaid rent which is totally crazy. Why did they not contact us while living there about unpaid rent ? We also gave them notice that we were taking my mother out and there was no mention of us owing anything as we had paid 1st and last month rent ! If I was looking to put my mother in another rest home this place would be crossed off my list without even inspecting the place. Don't be fooled by there welcoming committee and smiling faces because it all will change shortly there after! If you value your mother don't consider this place or you'll be sorry!

My father was in the facility for 2 months. There is something shady going on here and I'm requesting an investigation of their practices.

Their non-care of my mom I feel contributed to her death. The staff is not well trained. My mother was having a stroke and they did not even notice. I asked them to call 911 and they said no, if you want to call you do it. They are not trained to assess and care for the residents. They are not kind to the residents. Do not move here.

STAY AWAY! I put my Mom here and she was dead in less than two months. I saw her the Monday of the week she died & when I left I said to myself she's going to live till 100! That Wednesday she was fatigued & not eating. She was seen by their doctor, blood tests were requested, one of their aids asked my Mom if she needed to go to the hospital, AND NOT ONE OF THEIR FIVE STAFF WHO KNEW MY LEGALLY BLIND MOTHER WITH DEMENTIA WAS NOT WELL CALLED ME. My Mom died Thursday night. Had they had the courtesy to call me I would have been there immediately. Their excuse is that she said she was fine - well my Mom was not a complainer & she would have been very scared at the thought of going to the hospital without her daughter. Also, since my Mom had only lived there less than 2 months you think they'd call since they weren't that familiar with her habits. Their staff lied to the RI DOH when I requested an investigation - the woman at the front desk who claimed she sang with my Mom & loved my Mom told the DOH that she was not familiar with my Mom. Shame on these people! Look at the complaints against the director, [name removed], on the DOH website (I didn't know about this until after my Mom died). STAY AWAY!!

This company is into real estate and not into helping seniors! They have absolutely no concept whatsoever regarding the proper care or consideration the elderly deserve. It is an utter shame the a Place for Mom would even recommend Pacifica. Do your parents a huge favor and do not even look into this company. I had to pull my parent out of there due to their disregard and lousy management.

Food is horrible!! care is pathetic! Do not put your loved one. Do your homework and research this place.

Went to visit a friend yesterday in the dementia unit. The tenants were just sitting there falling asleep, they seemed very bored, not much interaction. Posted is a calendar of activities, they were supposed to be doing therapeutic art but staff was just sitting there on their cellular phones. Very disappointing.

The lady that is in charge of admissions assured us that Victoria Court was perfect place for our mom. There is a $3000 fee when you sign on the dotted line so we went ahead with it because we believed the admissions director. The weekend staff was terrible . Our mom was often left sitting in her room in her wheelchair very for long periods of time. Their memory care program is very sub par. Someone on staff reported our mothers care to the Elder Care Board saying the night and weekend staff couldn't handle lifting her and she was in danger. Also no one is in charge on the weekends We took her out of there and found a wonderful place that is superior in every way. She was only there a short time when the Elder Care Board said she couldn't stay. We are trying to get the $3000 fee back because the admissions director misrepresented the quality of their care and assured us Victoria Court was perfect for her. WE have not been successful in getting any of the Money back

My mother was looking for a new place because the place she was living was raising the rent significantly. We visited the home and fell in love with the place and the price which was significantly cheaper than the place she was currently in. Before she could move in, Atria required that she have a TB blood work done that cost almost $300 and she passed. Right before we were about to move, in, we were told that the price they provided us was incorrect and it was going to be a lot more than the place she was staying at. So we had to pull out of the agreement. I called and emailed Atria multiple times to request for a reimbursement of the blood work since it was Atria's requirement and not my mother's doctor and never go a call back and was always told that [name removed] the director was not in the office every time I called. They finally transferred me to someone else but was told no, they won't reimburse that. While they may seem great, I found the experience at Atria really poor and would never recommend it. The bait and switch, lack of response if you are not a potential client at this time and extra cost is why I would never consider this place for anyone I care about.

They promised we could skype weekly yet they have the worst internet service. They said we could call whenever yet most times they transfer me all over the place so I have to call multiple times. They've misplaced bedding and towels that have names on them. We've had to micromanage to get the podiatrist appointments, eye care appointments, teeth being worn and still can't get a beauty shop appointment. They used to have facebook page and I sent many messages asking if they could post pics for family out of state; they are always "working on setting it up".

Poorly run facility. Large turn over in staff. More staff needed to help all the residents in each cottage.

I submit this review with great resentment and disappointment. I want to report what I believe to be very unprofessional and discriminatory treatment by [name removed], director of Pacifica Senior Living. Here are the details. My sister is a recovering alcoholic and when she applied for housing at Pacifica, there was full disclosure that she was 59 and has late stage cirrhosis of the liver (hence her need for assisted living). [Name removed] and other staff members were great -they let her tour the facility and put a down payment on a unit. The required doctor's report was faxed to Pacifica approximately 10 days ago. After they received the doctor's report Pacifica scheduled the required nurse’s assessment at their facility, which was done on [date removed]. My sister and a family member also met with another staff member that day and schedule a move-in date for [date removed]. Pacifica happily accepted full payment for the first month, with no mention of “red flags” in her application. Three days later, I received a call from [name removed], the director of Pacifica, because she wanted to talk to me about the "red flags.” [Name removed] mentioned her age (which they knew week’s ago) and then proceeded to ask me questions about my sister’s drinking, when did she have her last drink, did I know Pacifica served alcohol, and then asked “what are we supposed to do if she starts drinking?” I was pretty taken aback by the questions. We never asked them to monitor my sister for alcohol intake. I said I was curious if [name removed] was screening all residents about alcohol concerns. I also reminded her that we used a referral service that specifically referred my sister to facilities that would take residents who were 59 if they needed care. Pacifica was on that list. Then, [name removed] informed me that the doctor's report from 10 days ago said my sister didn't need assisted living. Wow! I guess they never thought to disclose this to my SISTER when Pacifica received the report, or when she went for the nurse’s visit, or when she gave them a check and scheduled a move-in date. [Name removed] said she was calling the licensing board and would get back to me. Well, you guessed it! Her placement was rejected based on “her age and the doctor's report.” I must admit I was not very kind in my response to [name removed]. Why ask me about my sister’s alcohol usage when she was being rejected for unrelated reasons? I question the motives of the director and believe the rejection was actually based on my sister’s disease and appearance. It’s indefensible that these other issues weren’t addressed immediately so my sister could have looked elsewhere. And adding insult to injury - [name removed] still has not called my sister to notify her that she has been rejected by Pacifica. Nor is her refund check ready. [Name removed] is off for the weekend. Just beware. If your loved one isn’t particularly affluent, attractive, or has a socially unacceptable disease, there is no room at Inn Pacifica

So she had to crawl to her bedroom with a broken leg to get to her cell phone. I contacted the ED and he did some testing and told us that everything worked fine. My brother went to the house and proved that one of the buttons did not work. We have requested several times to have documentation around testing and maintenance and no one has provided us with this information. I have reached out to the Corporate office as well, I talked to one person there and have never heard back. Other residents of this property have also had issues with the emergency response system. Do not live here. It is not safe and the people running the property do not care about the residents.

It is impossible to recommend you go elsewhere with sufficient emphasis to match just how bad a choice it would be to put your aging parent here. I am speaking specifically about the Memory Care facility as I have no experience with the larger assisted care portion of this operation. Both of my parents were in the Memory Care unit. It seemed like a great option at first. After about 6 months, I got a call in the middle of the night telling me my mother was on her way to the ER to be tested for a UTI. I asked if she was alone. They said ‘yes.’ I exploded with facts like she is deeply paranoid, is tremendously exit seeking, doesn’t know her name and is sure folks are out to get her. They tried to assure me that she would be fine. Think about that: these people were making choices for my mother's health and well being every day and this is what their decision-making capacity turned out to look like. I asked why she needed to be in an ER for a routine test that could have waited for me to get there the next day. They had no answer. When she finally went over the deep end, the Director of Nursing called me up and told me I had to come get her, they were no longer able to care for her,…. as in ‘right now’. I said it took me weeks to get all the paperwork together to get her into Brookdale, how could I possibly get her into any reasonable place on this short notice. Suffice it to say, she was unimpressed. My mother died, so it became a non-issue. I wanted to remove my father from this nightmare but he was absolutely lost without my mother and I didn’t want to make his road any more difficult by putting him in a new facility so quickly on the heels of her death. Just one month ago, I lived the same exact story with the same exact Director of Nursing. She told me to come get my father, they were no longer an appropriate facility for him. I’m OK with the idea that he needed to move on but there was no conversation like ‘We have concerns about your father here and are giving you a 30-day notice so that you can make other arrangements.” I would be hard to articulate how ferociously stressful it was to find a new place with the idea that if I couldn’t find said place he was coming home with me, diapers and all. I was able to get him into an interim facility, but please note that this interim place charges $10,000.00 a month. Imagine that new bill in your monthly picture. But it bought me a month to find him a new home. By the way, this interim place called the folks at Brookdale saying they couldn’t understand why he shouldn’t go back to there as my father was able to walk 300 feet on his own, feed himself, and make transfers. Madame de Pain-in-the-butt had no answer beyond ‘we don’t want him.’ My mother, under the influence of Alzheimer’s was a tough customer but my father became very gentile and kind. Why the Brookdale staff just woke up one day and decided he wasn’t a fit is way beyond me but it put me in terribly stressful situation. My wife and I are not qualified to offer the 24/7 care he needs and were at serious risk of being thrust into that nightmare given Brookdale’s apparent ‘get out, now’ policy. Your loved one doesn’t need the abuse. You don’t need the abuse. It’s hard enough navigating life with a parent in dementia. You don’t need the exponentially greater level of pain they offered me in your life

This place is smoke and mirrors. Beautiful on the outside and looks are deceiving. The food is horrible and kitchen staffed by very inexperience people. They put food out that is the same thing over and over and just call it something different. The vegetable of the day last night was mushrooms, onions and peppers. That is not a proper vegetable side dish. The cleaning is a bit subpar, and not really a thorough cleaning. Residents have emergency buttons but have been told to call 911 as no one will respond to emergency buttons in the cottages. Concerns me with my elderly mother living there. They have community meeting where the supposedly listen to their customers, but nothing happens. This is a for profit business, and these are their customers, not children to brush aside because they don't know what they are talking about.

It was dirty and nasty I walked in my dad's room just to find the bathroom covered in urine and feces the living room had crunched up chips all over the floor I highly recommend you do not move your loved one into this facility

This is absolutely the worst place. DO NOT move your loved ones into this establishment. The staff has a huge turnover rate - you almost never talk to the same person twice, even within a small period of time. We pay almost $500 per month (one of the highest charges for meds we saw as we looked for a facility for her) to manage and hand out meds for my mom. And they NEVER get it right. The doctors don't call before making changes to her prescription regimen. Whenever we do talk to someone about a problem, the verbiage goes something like this, 'I'm so sorry this is happening. This (fill in the blank) is what were doing to try to rectify the situation. I didn't realize this type of thing has happened in the past (because it's a new person in whatever position). I will call you back to let you know how we have rectified the problem.' Never get a call back. As I write this, my mom is going on day two of no meds (a 3x's a day med) because they didn't get the doctor and Rx in place before the weekend (it's now a Wednesday). I can't say loudly enough: Don't put someone here!!
