Pacifica Senior Living

There have been 3 Executive Directors since 2022 and at least that many Executive Chefs. While the building and grounds were obviously luxury at some point, they are not maintained to that level now. They are almost always short staffed. However, the staff they do have are lovely and trying their best. Pacifica Senior Living (parent company) does not pay well so it is hard to hire and keep good employees. Hopefully, that will change soon with the new Executive Director that started in August.

I toured Chesapeake Place Senior Living and it was a good experience. The lady who assisted us was very knowledgeable and helpful. The community wasn't as well decorated as the community we chose; but they did have a family of baby ducklings near by which was very cute. The residents were going outside to feed them I believe. Although the residents seemed relatively happy there, it just didn't have as good of an atmosphere as the place we chose. We chose another community because we didn't care for the room they offered. It was a joint room, and we didn't think my mother-in-law could deal with that after living alone for 20+ years.

I think they're getting there; meaning, when we first began enrolling the community was known as Atria and when we finished signing up it was then Pacifica. I initially asked about activities and was informed that their activities director left and they were trying to get someone else. They don't seem to be doing anything for memory care residents right now. They've been kind of grouping them together to watch TV in common areas. They've lost a lot of staff and they're trying to replace a lot of staff. The people I've met seem nice and hard working. They've been responsive as well, but still seem understaffed. I think as things transition it will get better, I'm hoping. If it wasn't for my loved one having difficulties settling in new places, I would find somewhere else more established. I don't think Pacifica is a bad place; the staff are trying and are just in a transitional period at the moment.

The people I dealt with at Tampa Gardens Senior Living were very nice. And the tour was a positive experience. We just preferred a different community. Size and number of residents was the determining factor - we were looking for a place that was not too big but not too small.

I moved in about a year ago & the current management team took over shortly thereafter. They improve things every month & will no doubt continue to do so.

The staff were all great but there were a few drawbacks that we saw. The rooms are not furnished at all so you do have to spend more money to provide all of your own furniture. The facility is smaller and the apartment sizes are small as well. There is very little parking so sometimes you have to park a few blocks away and walk to get to it.

The place is very nice and clean and well laid out. The food is great. I can't say too much about the service. It just seems like they're understaffed, and my person has a hard time getting help sometimes. But I think they're trying to do the best they can.

This community was okay but it did not compare with another community that I was looking at. The tour was great and they were able to answer all of my questions.

Everybody is super friendly and always willing to fix any issues as soon as possible. They are short staffed. Housekeeping is supposed to be cleaning once a week and it has happened once. We had medication issues, missing his medicine for a day. I honestly think this is due to a staffing shortage. They provide a variety of meal options. They said they have transportation for doctors appointments as well as a shuttle that comes for the residents. Any communication has come from the executive director and he seems right on it. They have a portal that you can make your monthly payments on. We have had issues getting logged into it as of now.

It's still a relatively new experience, so the jury is still out so to speak. I'm definitely not sorry we put my family member here. She's getting used to it. It's always a transition going from your own place to community living. But overall it's been good. She moved in during Covid, so there were some challenges related to that, but things have been getting better. One of those challenges was fewer activities, but they're just now starting those back up again. She generally likes the food and is not losing weight. The staff have been good. When we've had any sort of problem, they've addressed it without delay. And the director has been more than helpful and has gone above and beyond.

Of the places I toured, I liked this one second best. I was looking for a balcony, and I was pleased they had balconies and garages too. I liked that it was individual housing. But the negatives were you only got one meal a day. And you had to go down a hill to a separate building in order to eat. So I was concerned about trying to walk up and down the hill when it’s snowy/icy. Also, the building was 20 years old with stippled ceilings, which are not my style. But the people there were very friendly.

The cottage setups are homier feeling and that's what made us choose this commubity I would recommend this community to others based on my experience

The cleanliness of the community is fine, but they are having some issues with staffing. The meals are pretty good as far as the quality, but if you are not able to make it downstairs to the dining room, they will deliver the meals to your room for a small fee, and that is for every meal needed to be delivered.

Generally the community is kept pretty clean, and most of the staff members are exceptional. The community is still pretty limited with the covid restrictions. The food is getting better, it was being delivered on trays, but now there is a new chef cooking the meals and creating a new menu. The activities are still pretty limited on the memory care side. The value for cost is pretty good, and in general we do think it is fair. The nurses who are available have done a good job, and have become well educated.

We toured Pacifica and it was a nice facility, but it seemed like my mom would just be one of many here and I didn't see that staff to resident intimacy that we were wanting. It was just not going to be the right fit for her.

I would check other places. I had a bad experience and I thought the issue was handled unprofessionally.

We chose Pacifica Senior Living Santa Fe at the time because we were on a very tight schedule and they had availability when we needed it. We did take a tour and it seemed like it would be a good fit. From what we saw, the room sizes seemed to be adequate compared to other places. It is hard to evaluate since we haven't been able to visit, but I think they are doing the best that they can.

We picked this facility because it was close to a family member so she could see him often. Also, if he had to stay long enough that he ran out of money, he was able to stay with medicare. He was diabetic and it was pour understanding that somebody at the facility would help him with his food choices and that he would be provided with customized care for his food and that did not happen. He was eating meals that he should not have been eating such as cereal 3 times a day. During covid when we could not come in, the staff members were not helping him with laundry or cleaning his room so things got pretty messy. We had to have a separate nurse come take care of him and sometimes there wasn't the best communication with the nurse and facility staff. On a positive note, this facility never got covid so they were good with keeping the residents safe.

My mother-in-law is living at Atria. She has a very nice room that includes a living room, a small kitchen, a bedroom, and a full bathroom. We like the size of the community, which is on the small side. Everybody there is very friendly and helpful. The only improvements that I would like to see are in healthier food choices, more activities, and more service to shopping and local events. I know that we’re going through Covid right now, but prior to Covid there wasn’t enough. They had trouble getting a driver for their van. They didn’t have one for months. The residents are paying a good sum of money and I don’t think it matches the amenities. However, like I said before, there are some amazing people working there such as the activities director, [name removed], who really keeps the residents entertained. I would like to see more interaction with the director and for him to reach out to the residents more often. He doesn’t engage with the family visitors as often as the past act director did. Overall, a fantastic place to be.

Pacifica Millcreek does a great job. They take good care, they look out for the details, listen, and solve problems when things happen.
