We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. Breckenridge Village is a beautiful community, and it has an excellent reputation for the care that they provide. They are definitely worth a look for other families looking into care in the area!

Very impressed with the free standing homes. Option for Mount Pleasant to buy and sale our home a definite plus. Location is a downside. Still need some solutions for issues Tom would have getting around the campus, but they have promised to get back with us. It sounds like he is the first blind person they've worked with.

I liked that place really well. They just did not have the type of facility that could take my mother-in-law with her needs.

We toured the community of Ohio Living Roynol. It was nice; however, the rooms were smaller than we wanted for our loved one. So, we went with another community with larger rooms.

My mother has lived at Ohio Living for nearly four years. It has not been a good experience. The management is horrible and doesn't respond well to suggestions or complaints. They always blame the residents, rather than take seriously the needs of the residents or fix problems. The food service is horrible. They serve the residents a lot of processed foods and sandwiches. They don't cater meals to senior's specific dietary needs. My mother's health has declined since being at OL because they won't fix her more nutritional meals as a diabetic. They don't have a nutritionist on staff. They apply a one-size fits all approach to residents. They can't keep good help. They hire a lot of young kids to cook the food and serve the seniors. Some of the staff are very rude and don't know how to engage seniors. They have extremely high turnover amongst employees. Their poor services don't justify the high costs they charge. They discriminate against residents. They don't upgrade the property.

They did have activities going on, and other than asking my loved one with dementia if he'd like to participate, or come to dinner, they didn't encourage him to participate. He would say no, and they wouldn't push even just a little harder. For instance, I wish they would have rephrased it and said something like "Hey, it's time for dinner. Let's go." I think they were understaffed. I don't think the nurses were bad, there just weren't enough of them. When we would come to visit, we would see somebody at the front desk, and that was it. Otherwise, you just couldn't find any other staff there. Our other family members had the same kinds of experiences. We came to visit once when they weren't expecting us after the holidays. The nurse's aide walked in and gave an audible gasp when she saw us there. HIs laundry that was supposed to be done every work was piled up in his closet There were crumbs all over the place. There was open food in his room, rotting fruit, poop on his shoes. And I talked with the director about it. When I got there for the meeting with her, there was a cleaning cart outside of his room and they had just cleaned. Then Covid came, and we couldn't go in to see him anymore. He kept falling, and had to go to the hospital and get stitches in the middle of the Covid outbreak. He fell again, which resulted in a subdural hematoma. The ER doctor said he would have taken him to the OR to drill his skull if he hadn't been at that advanced of an age. We felt so fortunate that another community helped us move our loved one out during Covid. Ohio Living would not allow us to come in to get his things, but they would charge us for the room if we left them there. They charged us $750 for them to pack his things up and leave them sitting out in the parking lot. When we unpacked, there were little things we found missing. They pretty much held us hostage for his belongings. They made us fill out a financial statement before he was allowed to be in their program. And anything they did, they kept adding on more and more costs until he was at the highest level of care. I told them I needed someone to be there in the morning to help him get dressed and get to breakfast, and someone there at night to help him undress and get into bed. With Alzheimer's, he wasn't able to tell us if these things were actually happening.

We chose Rockynol for my mom because it had good ratings & was conveniently located. She was there for rehab in [date removed]. They lost ALL of her clothes & one of her hearing aids ($2,000) which they have not yet reimbursed, & never helped her put hearing aids or dentures in or out daily. The food was terrible & they did not always follow her plant based vegan diet, so we transferred her elsewhere.

My Dad was placed here for the last 3 weeks of his life. He was on hospice and on a lot of pain meds to ease the pain of his cancer. A lot of the nursing staff did not seem to understand his needs with medicine. They would take 30 minutes to an hour to answer him pushing his button. Sometimes not come at all. He fell in the bathroom and pulled the cord. No one came. When our hospice worker ordered more pain meds to keep him comfortable some of the nurses didn't understand and didn't want to give it to him. His last couple days the nurses would cop an attitude about giving him more. They said he's sleeping how do you know he needs medicine. If they had stayed in the room for a few minutes they could easily see he was not sleep. He knew what was going on all around him but could not talk. We would talk through eye brow raises and hand squeezes. This situation was hard enough and then to have the nurses treat you and their patient this way is not ok. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We did file a complaint with the health department and let's just say they had multiple complaints with the same issues. We did find out they were understaffed. Shame on them! There were a few nurses, God Bless them, that were amazing! But the bad ones outweigh the good ones.

Absolutely terrible place. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. my grandfather has been abused and neglected since he arrived. The staff have been uncooperative with us in trying to get him transferred. They ignore his calls and leave him to be humiliated. Cannot say anything good about this place.

Do NOT bring your loved one here. From counselors to therapists and medical staff, incompetence is what they have in common. Staff members dont have a problem showing you that they have better things to do than do THEIR JOBS! The nurses station never answers the phone. If you're trying to call and check on your family member you might as well just drive over there because you'll never get anyone on the phone! There's only one number to call to get ahold of anyone and no one answers the phone. When I was there visiting a family member another patient was walking around the hall looking for some help. A staff member grabbed him and told him to get back in his room and yelled at him. I was sitting in a little sitting room at the end of the hall on the 4th floor wow there was a room right in front of me where I can see into the restroom the lady could not close the door so I went over there to close it for her she asked me to get help for her she had been pressing the nurse help button and no one was coming. She had actually been sitting there for quite a while. And at the time there were two nurses standing at the nurse station doing absolutely nothing! I could go on and on but just read all the other negative reviews, they are very true! I myself I'm going to get hold of an ombudsman for my family member to protect her while she is in there. Not to mention the medical association The Nurses Association and anyone else I can get ahold of to get this place shut down!!!

Astonishing how horrible this place is. Like actually quite upsettingly astonishing. My father has gone two weeks without being seen by a doctor (he is recovering from surgery). He has developed TWO bed sores. And the nursing staff seem completely unaware... even tho we notified them last week, reported it, and asked to be seen by doctor/wound specialist. They couldn’t answer basic questions about how these things are recorded and how doctors are notified. Legitimately couldn’t answer the question on, “how do you notify the doctor when a patient is needed to be seen?” COULDNT ANSwer that!! The food is disgusting. My father worked In a hospital for 35 years, he’s had his fair share of hospital food, and he is not picky, he has never minded it. If he’s saying the word “disgusting” with a swear word in front, it’s gotta be bad. My dad went hours each night sitting in his own feces (he’s immobile without assistance), and no one coming to his aid until morning, despite several calls to nurses and YELLING OUT for someone when no one came. His medications have been all screwed up. He has lost so much weight. This place is a horrible way for a person to slowly die. Seriously, if we hadn’t been there every day to check on him, he’s probably be dead. 2 weeks. That’s all it has taken. Shame on you.

If you are a full pay resident I assume your treatment and surroundings are better. The area for Medicaid seniors on the second floor above the rehab facility is not good. The nursing staff are overworked. Just passing medications took the only nurse off of her work on the evening shift. It was overcrowded and the patients were often treated rudely. If one patient needed 2 people to help them, again it would take the only other staff member on the floor.
